It's almost that time of year again....

One of my roomates has finally convinced me to head out there this year, and won't stop going on about how it's one of the most exciting times to enjoy the city.

So, about six of us (my buddy and his gf, his two brothers, and another buddy) are heading down on March 17, and coming back the following monday!

Kicking things off with st patty's day, so I'm guessing that's gonna be a pretty wild night.

As far as travel goes, we found round trip tix for about 170, so I'm thinking we got a pretty decent deal there.

Right now, we're trying to decide which hotel to stay at. I did some searching through old OM threads, and found some pretty good ideas on which ones to narrow it down to.

Our group has different personalities, so we wanted to keep our options open. Gambling, shopping, pool time, poker tourneys, food...we wanted to be next to all of it, soooooo, here's our top three choices

MGM grand, the Flamingo, Planet Hollywood towers

Obviously, we want a good sports book, because March Madness is going to be the focus of the trip, and I've heard the MGM has that. The flamingo is right down in the heart, so obviously we could find something that direction.

Anywho, one room/six people/five days comes out to about 100 bucks a piece, and that's about where we'd like to keep the price. So, total per person for the five days is right around $300.

Anybody have suggestions on better deals? Best place for watching MM? Best place to celebrate St. Patty's??

If anyone else is going to be down there, HIT ME UP!

It's almost VEGAS time!

I was in Vegas for New Year's and it was insanely fun.

I would love to go for MM, but as a tax accountant that will never happen. Damn IRS.

I have been down there for that before. Awesome time. Flamingo has a great pool area and I recommend pre boozing in the hotel before going anywhere. Makes it more fun and cheaper.

I'm in the same boat as you, tax season sucks. MM in Vegas would be awesome.

well, I'll keep everybody posted...it'll be my first time betting this thing, but I've heard the ten team parlays pay out BIG TIME if you can pick winners. I guess it's just a total cluster**** of awesomeness, people yelling and screaming...just a whole lot of fun. I'll DEFINITELY be buying some booze off strip, and mixing my own drinks to try and save money

What's with the lame friend bringing his gf? That's a major violation.

I did it at MGM in '05, and had a great time. Almost got fired when I got back though, I was so exhausted. Might want to consider taking an extra day for R&R...

That's what monday's gonna be for!

How was the MGM sportsbook? Or did you go somewhere else?

Booked the hotel today...

We got a Luxor Pyramid Spa Suite.

For the money, it was the biggest room available. It's about 800 square feet, has two beds, a couch, and a pretty big sitting area for a couple more people to pass out. Kept it within the budget, airfare and hotel for the entire trip is right under 300 a person. I figure it's pretty close to the MGM, so the sports book'll be right there. HOPEFULLY, the pool's open, from the pics it looks like there's QUITE a bit of hot ass that hangs out there..but it's march so we'll see.

Anywho, anybody stayed at the luxor? I went to the club in there, l.a.x. last time (kind of a waste of money imo), but how are their table prices? Do they have ANY cheap tables?

We're probly going to be spending a lot of time at O'Sheas for st. patty's day, and are gonna try to hit up a poker tourney or two...possibly the Riviera or the MGM, but I don't know where the best ones are.

Anybody else thinkin about going yet?

hmmm, since I'm not a vegas regular...do you have any suggestions? Are there any clubs or casino's that are KNOWN for st patty's day festivities? I guess it doesn't matter too much, I'm just gonna stock up on beads and get hammered, but it'd be cool to find someplace that's really giggin.
