1/2 of the Haitian population is under the age of 18. They need help!

UPS is shipping anything under 50lbs for free to Haiti. You can send food clothes or shoes. Also, American Airlines is taking doctors and nurses to Haiti for free. Please call 212-697-9767. Spread the word...Red Cross needs Creole-fluent volunteers for a 24hr phone bank. Call Mr. Wilfrid @ 305-776-6900.

Feel free to pass this info on.

We did Red Cross through their site, but I just found out that you can text them to donate, as well.

The little brown trucks can't get there and the big UPS planes can't land...........
You're right it's criminal that people would start a hoax like that.

It's an unreal problem, Fox reported only 4 military airplanes landed there today out of 16 that were trying to get in. The airport is a disaster....

Red Cross had 10M in donations as of this morning. Probably much more now. That's a good start.

The video coming out of there is just brutal. Heartbreaking is right. Disasters have no discretion. Women, children... just awful.

Yeah, I was watching CNN early this evening and they were trying to rescue a little girl who was pinned in a building... while cleaning out the debree next to her, they found a human limb and the camera had to pan away from the shot real quick.

Very upsetting.

The girl was rescued though, thankfully.

Which is the biggest problem with this ****ing planet. People in impoverished areas just don't stop ****ing and having kids. It's the biggest reason for poverty/starvation in those nations. There's no evolution because they can't get past the point where they're scraping for food and water because there is so many of them.

This just makes these disasters even WORSE due to how many people are stacked in small areas and in horrid infrastructure.

That said... I do feel bad for what happened. The $5 text has been a huge hit, did it myself. It was ALL over Twitter within hours. The response has been extremely positive through raising funds via the texting.

Haiti was ruined before this. They chopped down all but 2% of there trees and foliage. They can't grow food the topsoil is so eroded. They have 8 million people and make 5 times less the the avg Domenican. Same island, 5 times as poor. Nothing left to grow food with, nothing left to build with.

IMO they should start finding countries for these people to live in. The place is that much of a lost cause. Time to help them get 4-5 million off the island into new countries. Maybe the country of Haiti shouldn't even be a country anymore. They would be better off spread all over the world trying to start over.

Seriously does anyone thing rebuilding that rock is worth it?

The US just should've taken over the whole island back in the 1910's when troops were in the Dominican.
