I have an idea to spin this forum off into a new domain, and build a politics community around "regular guys" like us called "www.beerandpolitics.com."

I'm not saying that this is definitely what I'm doing, but it's an idea that intrigues me. I would transfer accounts that are active here over there, as well as threads. It would basically be what you see here, but instead of being "OrangeMane" it would be "BeerandPolitics." I would then cross link any references to the WRP forum from here to over there.

What do you think? Like I say - it's nothing imminent. Just an idea that I'm playing around with that I think has merit.

"We fear change."

On the real, if it makes your life easier, then go for it.

Would the WRP archives be preserved?

I like the aspect of having Broncos news and political discourse as a side interest in the same space.

However, I do think that the "regular guy" politics angle has a market right now. I think that the trick is keeping the propagandists at bay. Guys like LABF just about ruin these politics forums.

You arent as bad as LABF.

You may have high blood pressure and just about explode your head when you read something you dont agree with, but you dont come to this forum literally to propagandize it with a bunch of garbage from political party clearing houses.

Conversation (even though with you its mainly screaming) is good, but shuffling through a bunch of party propaganda sucks. LABF should have been sent packing long ago. The fact that he's around and is protected by people like yourself just further cements the point that modern democrats are largely hypocrites who are not really concerned with the ethics that the pretend to cling to.

Ha ha ha! ROFL!

This from a long-standing forum laughing stock with an equally long history of using the term "propaganda" to refer to any inconvenient fact or uncomfortable truth that comes his way.

Hey, hey, hey, boys, play nice together for once, huh? TJ posted a serious question here, and youze two are doing your best to hijack the thread into another poo-fling.

Do you want to take it outside? Or would you rather I come over there and smack you both upside da head?

Sheesh, some kids never learn.

TJ, I'd come check out the new place, but in a wide-open forum, I'd be concerned about trolls of both stripes and all flavors running wild over the place. If we think it gets bad sometimes around here, we ain't seen nuthin' yet until the posters don't even have the common interest of the Broncos to hold them together.

Our little corner of the political world is a tempest in a teapot, and an amusing side diversion from the football stuff that brings (most of) us here. My thought is that it would take a lot more moderators, and a lot more effort from them, to keep the new place from getting out of hand.

The world doesn't need another website. It works well here.

Maybe getting more people in this section with more varied opinions might be good though.

I'm disturbed that anyone would think this forum is made up of "regular guys". I'm embarrassed that some of these socialists even claim the Broncos are their favorite team. While we spend our Sundays rooting for our team to win a bleeping division again, they're plotting how best to destroy our economy and make us all wards of the government.

So, I think it would be best to hide this forum from as many "regular guys" as possible lest they come after some members with pitchforks and torches. I wouldn't want that on my conscience.

You want to solve America's ills just roll back the Reagan tax cuts and return to import tax tarrifs on from China and any other 3rd world country Corporate America has set up shop in and in 5-10 years the dollar will regain its strength the deficit and debt will shrink dramatically. Oh yeah, and cut military spending by 50%!

So why do you and so many Texans in enjoy being Slaves to Predatory Corporate America and their Trans-Global masters?

TexanBob

Comrade Rasta:So why do you and so many Texans in enjoy being Slaves to Predatory Corporate America and their Trans-Global masters?

Because I trust them more than being slaves to a predatory socialist federal government and their communist masters.

Ask yourself who has led to more holocausts - private corporations or control-freak governments? Has there ever been a corporation that has killed as many as Hitler? Stalin? Mao? Pol Pot? Castro? Julius Caesar? Next to those, Blackwater and Halliburton are a drop in the bucket.

When the federal government mandates what type of light bulb we have to buy or what type of car we have to drive or put us in jail for not buying their health care fiasco instead of letting private individuals choose what's best for themselves, they are well on their way to the same dictatorial leanings as Hitler, Stalin, Mao et al.

So, while I'm not in love with everything corporate America does nor some of the ones who game the system, I have far far far far less to fear from them than I do an ever-expansive, freedom-destroying, wealth-destroying, dependancy-loving government.

TexanBob
01-07-2010, 11:42 AM
Say, Comrade Rasta, I'm curious. Which government built your computer for you? What government provides your internet for you? What government hosts the websites you visit?

Unless you are one of the pervs at the public library checking out child porn because the ACLU says its their constitutional right for pervs to view porn at the library as children view it, you are using a computer built by a (gasp) corporation, sending your clicks to a (gasp) corporate ISP whose data is travelling via corporate-owned phone lines.

How can you, as a socialist in good standing with your Soviet masters, live with the guilt of using the internet which puts more money in the hands of predatory corporations?

Perhaps, I've misjudged the situation though. If so, you can go back to your kiddie porn.

That's scary, and it should be for any person who is concerned about individual rights. The gay marriage and "womens rights" stuff is of no consequence in terms of individual rights, because when you get down to brass tacks, individual rights are based on the ability to own property.

How hilarious is it that these right-wing mouth breathers still refer to Obama as a "socialist" while crowing in the next breath that Obama has betrayed the liberal base, escalated the war in Afghanistan, given the GOP the health care "reform" bill it wanted, etc.?

Every time you turn around, some right-wingnut is crowing (not without justification, I concede) about how the "change" Obama promised turned out to be a crock of sh*t.

Well, if nothing has changed, then that means we still have the same old BushCo/GOP policies in place for the most part, right?

And Obama is a socialist?

Make up your minds, republi-bubbas - you can't have it both ways.

Comrade Rasta is avoiding the real question which is how he can live with himself about using a computer built by an evil greedy corporation, connecting to an ISP owned by another evil greedy corporation and allegedly rooting for a football team which acts as another evil greedy corporation. How he lives with the hypocrisy, I don't understand but I suppose he justifies it in his government-programmed mind by railing against all things corporate and spouting the virtues of Chairman Mao.
