OUR special teams were slightly improved but he is a proven commodity

No matter what semantic games the Buffalo Bills are playing with their fired coaching staff, special teams coach Bobby April is no longer on the staff.

April has exercised a clause in his contract that makes him a "free agent" Tuesday, according ESPN's John Clayton.

Long one of the best special teams coaches in football, April doesn't figure to be a free agent for long. April is a rare difference maker at his coaching position, and doesn't cost an owner much relatively to upgrade a team's chances for winning.

The 56-year-old has also coached with the Steelers, Falcons, Saints and Rams.

I'd rather have Bob May or Tom December, personally.

Just like players, if a coach is an upgrade, bring him in.

I was wondering why there wasn't a thread on this guy yet. One more blank cheque please Mr. Bowlen! I'm surprised our ST coach lasted the year, given McD's rampages at him.

I have long been a fan of April's especially when with the Steelers and Falcons. But given how bad the Steelers kick coverage was this season, (gave up quite a few TD's) wouldn't be surprised to see him back there.
