Lets compare Tom Brady's First season in McDaniels offense with Randy Moss and Wes Welker. With Ortons First year...
G/ RTG/ Comp/ ATT/ PCT / YDS / AVG/ AVG/A/ TD/ INT
2006-07 New England 16 / 87.9/ 319/ 516/ 61.8/ 3529/ 220.6/ 6.8 / 24/ 12
2009-10 Denver 16 / 86.8/ 336/ 541/ 62.1/ 3802/ 237.6/ 7.0 / 21/ 12

It would appear to me we have a clone... 09' Kyle Orton = 06' Tom Brady???

Belichick called the plays that year though.

Funny and interesting.

Brady has a better arm - pocket presence - competitive spirit - whatever you want to name. Orton was also out for a full game (4 qtrs).

I'm excited to see what happens this off season.

Nope he just hadn't formerly named him the offensive coordinator, but It is well known McDaniels was calling the plays that year. Belichick did have final say though as he did in 07.

I hope we get a better dose of Brandstater in this upcoming TC/Pre-season (barring any major QB changes through draft, trade, FA).

I'm just trying to make the point Orton isn't going anywhere... McDaniels doesn't want to have to teach the system over again and Orton has proven he can get the job done. He got better throughout the year the main thing i saw him improve was his pocket presence towards the end of the year was much better than in the early season. People were wondering where Gaffney was all year, well he was in the #3 spot. McDaniels play calling opens up the receivers not the other way around.
Anyone else think the Ryan Harris injury hurt alot more than people think and no one even talks about the fact we lost an eventual probowl right tackle and replacing him with Tyler "I can't keep my balance or a block" polumbus as a reason for the skid

and bellichick's first year in NE was a record of 5-11...everything's breaking just perfectly for us!

Brandon Hoyer also shows that this position can be systematic to produce...

I don't see Orton getting it done in the long run though. I just hope we can build a solid oline and dline...

I wonder if anyone remembers Brady prior to McD. Seems to me that all of his important wins came before he was calling the plays.

I guess we can expect 50 TDs and 4800 yards from Orton next year as well.

Very True the patriots never won the super bowl in the 3 years he was coordinator.

And as for the second part i'm sure he'll try his best.

But don't expect anyone else under center for the next two years unless we pick up a free agent. But I can gaurantee it will be at least 2 years before a rookie sees the field.

Throwing two pick-sixes in the biggest game of the year constitutes getting better theoughout the year?

Jake Plummer is a first ballot HOF'er!

Well obviously since two plays constitute his whole body of work, lets talk in sarcasm since we have nothing better to say...

Im not saying I was blown away by orton this year but the stats don't lie and don't be surprised when he is under center next year. I simply brought up the fact to help people cope with it.And the biggest problem with our team was not our quarterback it was our run game and our ability to stop the run. Which yes still is the key to winning football games I.E. New York vs. New England.

Bottom line is that the Offensive and defensive line need to be addressed before anything else.

Pretty sure these guys didn't come 'til the '07 season. The season you're referring to he would have had Branch, Givens, Dillon et al...

edit. His top receivers for that year were in order -

Reche Caldwell
Ben Watson
35y.o Troy Brown
Kevin Faulk
Doug Gabriel

Jeez he had some studs... ROFL!

Well someone finally caught my lie ... but seriously the o-line and the run-d were the culprits of the year and i just get pissed at people blaming everything on orton who had a pretty good year overall. And while were at it people can quit hating on moreno the kid has some crazy moves maybe if the defenders wern't getting to him before he got to the line of scrimmage he make a couple people miss and gain yards at the same time instead of having to make 3 moves behind the line just to get back to the line of scrimmage cause no one is holding their blocks...
