We're done. Baltimore ****ed us over.

Baba Booey

So, one of Baltimore or Pittsburgh have to lose, the Jets have to lose, and the Texans have to lose.

Pittsburgh @ Miami
Baltimore @ Oakland
Houston vs. New England
Jets vs. Cincinnati

I could see Miami pulling it out at home, Baltimore will crush the Raiders, New England should beat the Texans, and Cincinnati should beat the Jets.

It's going to be a long shot but there is a chance.

I could stand losing to a talented team like the Eagles, but losing to the ****ing Raiders at home is what I'm going to look back on as the gut-wrenching, vomit-enducing moment of this season.

I can't see how that's true. If it were true, why wouldn't they be projecting us as in right now? As of now, it would be Baltimore and the JETS.

First...we have to win.

We also need two of Pitt, Miami, Balt to lose. I think we get in over Houston because of conference record.

Oakland ain't doing us no favors.

Here is how I see it.

Everyone is saying if the Jets win they are in. I am not sure why this is since they will have the same conference record as us, Houston, Pitt and Balt if we all win but I will assume every site and tv station knows what they are talking about. Having said that:

We must win

Jets must lose

Pitt must lose or Houston must win. Both of these do not need to happen, only one does.

If we win, the Jets lose, and Pitt loses, we are in a 3 way tie with Baltimore and Houston. Us and Baltimore move on.

If we win, the Jets lose, Pitt wins, and Houston wins, There is a 4 way tie between us, Pitt, Balt, and Houston. Baltimore and us advance

tsiguy96

we need baltimore or pittsburgh to lose, no question.

Baba Booey
12-27-2009, 05:15 PM
What is the tiebreaking procedure if you haven't played each other? Is it conference record then division record? Cause if that's the case if we finish 9-7 and the Jets finish 9-7 then we have the tiebreaker against them.

yhova
12-27-2009, 05:17 PM
ESPN just said that Denver and the Jets are 5 & 6 SEEDS WITH TIEBREAKERS.

Is that if all the 8-7 teams win?

mkporter

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
Coin toss

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

If we win, and the Jets lose, we are in. B'more and Pittsburgh can't both beat us out because of #1. No combination of teams can sweep us out, so we go to #3. Pitt and Houston lose out on #3. Too lazy figure out #4.

We have to win and either the Jets or Ravens have to lose. I don't think Oakland will be to fire up to beat Baltimore to help Denver make the playoffs. I also see the Bengals resting their players so should be a easy win for New York. Hope for a major blitzer to hit New York next week .

Looks like there is a number of senerios that we get in with. The best is a Jets loss and Houston win.

It depends who Cinci wants to play. If the Jets beat them they will play the jets again in the first round. If Cinci wins they will play us. They almost get to pick who they want. I'd take the jets if I was Cinci....Damnit

#5 - Jets 8-7
#6 - Ravens 8-7
Texans 8-7
Steelers 8-7
Broncos 8-7

Jets, Ravens win, #5 and #6 seed.

Jets or Raven loss; Texans win; Texans are in.

Combination of two losses (Jets, Ravens or Texans) and Steelers win, Steelers are in.

Combination of three losses (Jets, Ravens, Texans, Steelers) and Broncos win, Broncos are in.

Games next week:
Bengals @ Jets
Ravens @ Raiders
Patriots @ Texans
