While there is no question that McDaniel's has been relatively successful in his first year - certainly doing better then all but the Colts coach, it's also crystal clear that McDaniels has been unable to match the offensive success from last year.

Through the first half of this game, the same destructive cycle has been established over and over. The offense has consistently failed to achieve a rhythm, and outside of Kyle Orton, it's pretty much impossible to say that any player on this team has played to the level they did last year.

Pieces that were very successful last year - Royal, Scheffler and Hillis have been rendered almost completely useless this year. The offense has underperformed from play on.

That leaves two possibilities - one is that the players are not as good this year as they were last year due to lack of talent, or the second that the players are not as good this year as they were last year due to lack of coaching.

So which is it? How do we fix the McSlow offense?

I might suggest that we not run over and over once it's proven that they know everything Moreno is doing.

Interior O-line. No pressure up front. Bad Options

Interior linemen need to sack up and play like men. Probably won't get fixed until the offseason.

Try again with the running back, too. Moreno drops like a bitch if there isn't a gaping hole to run through.

We'll need a real QB before anything happens though. Orton is Griese all over again.

Red Zone offense, it was the one thing Mcdaniels was harping about all offseason and it has only gotten worse since last year.

Today we ran 2 plays in goal line situations, all from the power run formation one was a stretch run and the other was a playaction with 2 recievers going in the end zone, that is too easy to defend and too predictable. We have only ever had success running in short situations when Spencer Larsen is at FB, without him our short yardage run offense is more pathetic than TO crying about his QB.

What the hell was with the running on 1st down today? we ran into 8 and 9 man fronts so many times it looked like a moron running into a wall.

Mcdaniels may be good at signing free agents and good at making bad QBs look decent, but he does seem to rely way too much on certain plays and when they don't work his whole game plan goes to hell. I am talking about screens, when the quick screen fails his game plan is disrupted, we saw it with Baltimore, we saw it with San Diego the 2nd time and now with Oakland.

I am not sure what it is with Orton, but when he is needed he seems to drop his level and become indecisive, he is excellent when things go well, but when there is real pressure he is nowhere to be found.

Al Smith sucks balls, I didn't think it was possible but he has regressed even futher, if we have enough healthy players he shouldn't even dress for the remaining games - he is that awful.
