Anyone see the Hunter Thompson Documentary "Gonzo"?

The documentary starts with Dave Logan calling a Bronco's game in 2001, I think it is the Giants game. I thought it was pretty funny that they started with that.

I just checked it out at the library. It was very good and didn't glamorize the drug use and did a good job of covering his '72 election coverage. I wish they could have delved into the gun love alittle more but over all it was good.

I was disappointed by the Movie "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas", but this was well done.

Anyone else see this?

Any locals have any Hunter Thompson stories?

I liked Fear & Loathing.

Good job by Depp and Del Torro.

Where the Buffalo Roam was an earlier Hunter movie with Bill Murray playing Thompson and Peter Boyle playing Lazlo.

Also good.

Different story arcs with some similar themes.

Where the Buffalo Roam covers part of the campaign trail stuff too.

I had heard that Depp was making another one but haven't heard or seen anything about it.

I did read Hells Angels in under a week.

Huge fan. Haven't seen that documentary, but i did see the IFC one where Johnny Depp mustered all the necessary resources to have HST's remains shot out of a cannon. Per his wishes.

HST lovers should check out Matt Taibbi ... closest I've ever found: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=taibbi Helps if you're a liberal.

The Gonzo movie was good.

I had kind of forgotten about it, but that Giants game was September 10, and it was the game where Eddie Mac broke his leg in such a gruesome fashion. And that was very upsetting.

Then September 11 happened the next day and kind of put things in perspective.

Did anyone here follow Hunter's columns for ESPN? They were uneven, but there was some good stuff in there. A line sticks out in my mind where, after a bad loss to the Raiders, he called the Broncos something like "speed freaks without any speed."

I know people love glorifying the guy but he shot himself with his family listening on the phone.

What kind of man does that?
