View Full Version : Better WC Weekend Matchup: Patriots or Bengals?

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves we still have to get 2 or 3 wins before we're in but who is the better matchup?

I realise the Pats secondary is suspect but they're a very experienced playoff team on offense. Their rushing attack is weak and we have the guys to shut down Moss and contain Welker.

Cincinatti is a bit of a wild card to me (no pun intended). Their play has been erratic and even in their wins of late they've not played as convincingly as they did against their division rivals. With the demise of the Steelers and the Ravens are they really as good as everyone thought earlier in the season? I don't know nearly as much about them but they seem to be the more well balanced team offensively. Defensively I just don't know where they're at. They're not showing the same dominance since Odom went down for the season.

Cincinatti they don't know us as well. They played us before we even knew ourselves. I still fear the Pats schemes and their desire for vengeance in Foxboro.

My choice: Cincinatti

NE, they are a weak team this year with a poor rushing game. cincy has strong rushing team.

I like either one.

Patriots have more playoff experience and in winter and at home they are still a tough team to beat. They are probably the weaker team of the two and their run game is not as good which will hurt them playing in cold.

Cincinnati has no significant playoff experience to draw on and has slowed down a bit lately, but they have a good run game and a very good defense which traditionally is what you need to win in the playoffs.

My pick would be Cincy because we match up very well against their power based run game and their lack of playoff experience can be exploited.

What if New England doesn't even win their division? It could happen again.

I'll take the Jets for 1000, Alec.

I want the Bengels, that way I can get tickets and go to the game, close to us in Toronto. They match up well against either team.

I like the Bengals to show all it wasn't a "fluke" in week 1.

NE, Miami, Jets or Bengals are all possible wins for our Broncos if we get in. Exciting!

I'd like the Jets if they took it. Nolan would have a lot of sending the guys after Sanchez.

Pats.

1. They are the weaker of the two teams

2. We have shown a proclivity for beating in recent years

3. Name an attribute... pass rush, rushing the ball, etc, etc, and the Bengals are probably doing it better than the Pats.

I would say the only thing NE has going for it is play off experience. Otherwise, they are ripe for a one and done this year - again, providing they even make the playoffs.

What, you mean you won't be rooting for Ocho Cinco in the playoffs?

:)

Oh, it's not just him that I despise on that team, far from it.

You name it: the criminal Tank Johnson, the conceited Palmer, Rey Maulauagauahgaa, the overrated "genius" Marvin Lewis, the twin tailback aholes they have now, the Reds, the city itself...I can't stand any of them.

Yea, you won't get any argument from me.

Adding LJ was just icing on the cake.

We have to make the playoffs first.

We are 8-5 last time around too.

I'll take the pats......

think back to all the unforced errors the Bungholes made in the opener. 11 dropped passes...botched hold on a FG...the tipped ball.

I'm still worried about facing teams the second time around it didn't workout too well against San Diego

The Broncos have already beat both these teams and San Diego (Bengals and Chargers in their house), and proved they can play with the Colts. That's most likely the top 4 seeds in the AFC, which bodes well for the Broncos in the playoffs.

But how incredibly different would a do-over at Cincinatti be? That first game of the season feels like it was 3 years ago.

I really don't know if the Pats make it to the playoffs. They seem to be almost sleepwalking to me. There is a lack of something there, and I would just as soon see the Bronso play them. But I would not be surprised if Miami takes that Division. We do not have any idea as to how that would line up, but if the Broncos got the Bungles, that would be okay because it would mean the Broncos made the playoffs......

I think the Broncos could corral the Bungles.....

Rather see Cincinnati, simply because I'd rather face Palmer and Lewis than Belichick and Brady.

I just want the Broncos to beat the Raiders in our house. That's all I'm worried about.

I'd rather face the Bengals.....their offense hasn't shown me anything in the last few weeks.

In any case....if Baltimore wins out (I think they will), and Denver and Baltimore are the 2 wildcards.....both our teams could knock off Cincy and New England in the first round....they way they are playing.

I love this page... here's my scenario: if the Broncos don't make the #2 seed then I would love us to play Miami!!... I don't know how we match up with them but I'd get to go to the game!!!! watching the broncos in the playoffs in the first wild card weekend and then again on Superbowl Sunday!!! That would be the best start of 2010.
