Surprising. Credit to Orakpo. He's have a fine rookie season.

I think Ayers will be fine. I think he's playing in a much more diverse, difficult defense to learn as a rookie.

Well, we took Ayers after Orakpo was already off the board. So, not sure the point of the comparison.

is he playing end in the 4-3?

10 more than Ayers.

Ayers was taken later. The only place we had a crack at taking Orakpo was at 12, which is where we took Moreno.

People don't understand that logic. Lol. Even though Moreno is probably ROTY, and a HUGE part of this team, they think Oh-crap-o would have been such a great pick.

Orakpo would have a been a good pick, no need to denigrate him. But yeah, I think people quickly forget how much Knowshon has contributed to our season after a game like today.

Of course, the question becomes whether or not one of the other RBs would have been a better selection instead of Moreno...

Don't know one way or the other.

I read that the Broncos considered Ayers at #12 and instead took Moreno HOPING that Ayers would be available at #18 (which he was). Looking back, maybe we should have taken Orakpo at #12 and someone else at #18.

He only needed 40 players on his draft board while the rest of the NFL needed hundreds. Baby McGenius!

Hey, sweet thread. Why don't you start one about Alphonso Smith too? I'm sure that would also be well thought out and original.

*edit* Start one up about Quinn while you're at it too.

If only Shanahan had let Slowick go, Cutler would still be here, BM with a new huge contract and the Broncos would be all good with Orakpo.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda...

So SHanahan was gonna pick him. I see... I wish we were 5 & 8 with a QB with 22 picks. Oh no, wait...

these are the absolutely stupidest threads on the planet. lets go back and redo every single draft and kill the coaches for not taking the best player at that spot. idiots.

We would be all good with Orakpo? Are you ****ting me? We would still have Tatum Bell as our #1 back, our Defense would probably still suck. Cutler would have lost us at least 3 games too.

Just curious...

Have you watched Jay Cutler play a down of football this season? Just asking.

Beantown Bronco Rule #46:

Don't crow about "what if" and bag on McD for the pick unless you can prove that you were pining for Orakpo with the #12 pick before this past draft.

Orakpo now has 4 sacks (11 for the year).

I wanted the Broncos to pick orakpo with the 12 pick so bad. I think Moreno would of been their at 18 pick because no other team was going to draft a running back that early. That would of been sweet having both Orakpo and Dumervil as outside linebacker.

you idiots realize we are in a 3-4 and not a 4-3?? This thread is worthless, the guy isn't even playing the same position.

If we would've drafted that Tom Brady guy before the Pats got him in the 6th round we wouldn't have drafted Cutler along with drafting Ed Reed we would've won multiple Superbowls. Shanahan would've never been fired and still be coaching today thus resulting in McDaniels never being hired and this board blowing up this past year.

No point in saying "what if?" Denver is in a good spot and I'm happy with what we've got.

Orakpo is also playing in a standard 4-3 defense like he did in college. There is no guarantee he could be doing that in a 3-4 defense the Broncos employ and in fact, some 3-4 teams bypassed him which resulted in him dropping to #12 in the first place.

Nobody wants to mention who those sacks came against?

it was the Raiders, folks. BFD.

I love how this number keeps creeping further and further down in your mind. By the end of the season, you'll be claiming 15.

I love these armchair GM's who watch their "film" via youtube clips and regurgitate Mayock and McShay mock draft boards think they know any better than proffessionals who are paid millions of dollars to do this for a living.

They spit out dozens of mock drafts for 6 straight months, and later point back to prospects they were "high on" and their success...feeling like if they were actually the GM they would have picked all the home-runs and none of the busts.

There's a reason McD is your age and making 100 times more money than you are...
