Miami just went up. Seems like we'd rather NE won this one.

What's the rationale behind that?

Now NE and Miami will be 7-5 and 6-6 respectively. With the Jets at 6-6 as well we've got a one game lead over every team in that division. That is a helpful buffer given that we're still only holding onto a wild card spot. Now even if the Dolphins or Jets win out the #2 team in that division needs us two lose three of the next four to knock us out of a WC berth.

Steelers losing helps us for similar reasons. At 6-6 they need to win out and have us lose two of the next four in order to catch us for the WC spot. I'm hoping Green Bay shows up big on Monday night and gives us the same kind of breathing room over Baltimore.

In the AFC South we basically don't need to worry about the Titans or Texans, short of a huge collapse, and Jacksonville is still one loss behind us. The Jags still need to play Miami, Indy, and NE, with a gimmie against Cleveland. Harder schedule than us I'd say.

We're lined up well to at worst lock up a wild card spot, but I'd like to have a to the party before we start thinking about who we'll dance with.

Never, ever thought I'd say this, but thank you Raiders!

Steelers Remaining Schedule:

at Browns (easy win)
Packers (tossup)
Ravens (tossup)
at Dolphins (tossup)

One more loss gives them 7 - - in which case we don't have to worry about them edging out Denver if the Broncos finish 10-6.

Now, if the Packers will just cooperate and hang loss #6 on the Ravens, things will really be looking up. If that happens, then one of them (Pittsburgh or Baltimore) will be guaranteed to finish with less than 10 wins since they play each other in 3 weeks.

The way Quinn would watch pass rushers go behind him, then waltz around like they will never come on his backside is pretty funny.

Most qbs start the clock when they see that happen outside. Quinn has the worst pocket awareness I have seen in some time.

I don't get it? He's been playing football his whole life. How can he be that oblivious in the pocket?

Our biggest threat it Jacksonville. They play Indy and NE, but they might be playing their backups.

I think getting to 11 wins is a must to advance.

Hence, we definitely need to split between Philly / Indy. Let's hope Indy has a letdown next week and we sneak up on them.

Yep. The defense is hurting a bit right now. Weddle is out for a couple of weeks and they decided to rest Merriman and Castillo since this was an unofficial bye week. :flower:

I can. Their passing offense is spectacular. But their run game isn't and their defense is suspect at best. The last seven games include 4 against KC, Oakland, and Cleveland. They got hot and rolled through the softest part of their schedule.

And they have Norv. Looks like they'll be keeping him too.

I don't know what happened with the Bengals but ever since they beat the Steelers (which was impressive at the time), they've been very suspect to me.

They do have a good run game (their o-line is playing great) and their defense is playing pretty well but that offense should be putting up monster points with the way their o-line is playing.

I think the AFC North started hot and now has fizzled. Pittsburgh might have just blew their playoff chances today (so much for unleashing HELL on the NFL) and Baltimore is looking mediocre as of late after starting so strong.

There are way too many inconsistent teams this year. If I had to choose today, I'd say there are only four legitimate Super Bowl contenders: Indy, New Orleans, Minnesota (even with their poor game today) and San Diego. The Patriots look bleh right now but it's Belichick so you can never count them out. I guess if I had to choose a sixth, it would be the Bengals but I just can't get thier loss to the Raiders out of my head.

The problem with Dallas is that they have been so inconsistent all year long and especially as of late. They looked horrible against the Packers but good against the Raiders. Looked horrible against the Redskins but pretty good yesterday against the Giants. And it doesn't matter if they're at home or on the road.

Which team shows up next week?
