QUICKLY:

* Sunday’s game marks the latest in a year (Dec. 6) that Denver has been scheduled to open its season series with the Chiefs, who are coming off a 43-14 loss at San Diego last week.
* The Broncos are 6-0 this year with a positive turnover ratio, posting a 4-0 mark with a +2 ratio and a 2-0 mark with a +1 ratio.

OFFENSE:

* During the last three weeks, rookie RB Knowshon Moreno has totaled the sixth-most rushing yards (265 / 88.3 ypg.) and the third-best yards per rush average (5.6) in the NFL. He leads all league rookies in rushing yards (688) and yards from scrimmage (784) this year.
* C Casey Wiegmann, who spent seven years (2001-07) with Kansas City, owns a consecutive snaps played streak of 8,724 dating back to 2001 that is the longest in the NFL.
* QB Kyle Orton is 10-4 in his last 14 starts dating back to December 2008.

DEFENSE:

* Led by long-time NFL defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, the Broncos are the only team to rank among the league’s top six clubs defensively in sacks (3rd, 32), yards per play (4th, 4.8), yards per game (5th, 295.0), passing yards per game (5th, 185.0) and points per game (6th, 17.2).
* OLB/DE Elvis Dumervil notched his sixth multiple-sack game of the season last week with two sacks against the Giants. He leads the NFL with a personal-best 14 sacks and is looking to become the first league sack champion in Broncos history.
* S Brian Dawkins is tied for the NFL lead with three fumble recoveries, including one posted last week against the Giants. The seven-time Pro Bowl choice ranks third among current players (1st among DBs) with 16 career fumble recoveries.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

* Last week against the Giants, K Matt Prater made all four field-goal attempts and registered touchbacks on 5-of-7 kickoffs. His five touchbacks ranked as the second most by a Bronco in a game during the last 15 years.
* Since signing veteran P Mitch Berger on Oct. 26, the Broncos’ net punting average has shown the fourth-most improvement (+3.7 yds. / 34.5 to 38.2) in the NFL.

“All Ready”- Darrent Williams

"It's loud. I've played in loud places before. We played up in the Metrodome a number of years up in Minnesota, and there are not too many places louder than that. We'll have to handle the operation, try to limit our penalties and do a good job on offense" – Kyle Orton

"We always expect to play a tough game regardless of what happened the week before, anything can happen. They never play a team the same. We don't expect that team that played last week against San Diego." –Daniel Graham

"I know this: there aren't really any good sources to check with because in the last 18 years, they've only lost seven times in December at home. I think the biggest thing we are trying to focus on is ourselves and our preparation and what we can do to try to go in there and play our best game. If we start looking for answers outside of this building, I think we're going to run into a dead end pretty quick. There's no magic formula (where) you call somebody and they say, 'Hey, do 'this' or 'Eat spaghetti on Saturday night' or whatever it may be. I don't think that's going to really change what happens on Sunday. I think we've got to have a good week of preparation and practice, have a good game plan and go out there and play our best football. If we're looking for another answer, we're probably going to run into a dead end. It's not an easy place to play. We know that going into it, but we're not going to spend too much time talking about that. I think the best thing that we can do is really focus our efforts on trying to play our best." –Coach McDaniels

"Honestly, no because I wasn't here for those times. To be honest with you, my thought processes are on what I can do to help this team this year. I'm not concerning myself with what happened in the past because there was nothing I could do about it then, and there's nothing I can do about that now, besides what's going on today. That's practicing and making sure we're ready going into a hostile environment and hopefully, coming out with a win. " -Brian Dawkins

"I see a lot of good players out there, a lot of hard-working players, it is a situation like we were in with our little slump, something that kind of reminds me of Washington. You can't take a team lightly that has its back against the wall. You have to expect anything out of them."-Ronald Fields

We better win this game or all hell will break loose... and likely until next season since it would logically cost us the playoffs.

I hope we see a convincing and dominating win over the Chiefs. We'll need that going into Indy.

... if we can beat KC and then Indy we should make the playoffs.

Oh Shiit! Did Barrel Man finally pass? When? The guy should get a spot in the ring of fame! He was there a section away my first game in Mile high in 1978. That is messed up! Hope the team steps up for him..the guy deserves it!

Broncos 34 Marshall 2 TDs, Moreno 2 TDs, Doom 3.5 sacks 2 pics and 3 FF for the defense.

Tom Waddle said last night on NFLN Total Access that "...Cassel should just put on Doom's jersey at the start of the game cause cause he's going to be wearing it all game anyway!"

Derrick Thomas mojo will defeat you all.

Derrik was a stud but in usual KC fashion..overhyped..lol! Hell the single game record he hold for sacks was a gimmee..they changed a sack credit twice and took it away freom somebody else and gave it to DT for him to get it.

And the Mojo will be Doom channeling the ghost of Thomas. As Waddle said on NFL Total Access, Cassel should just put on Dumervil's jersey to start the game, cause he'll be wearing it all game!

didn't he get 3 consecutive 15 yard penalties on 3 consecutive plays against the Broncos? if that's what you consider mojo in KC, then it's no wonder KC hasn't been to a superbowl since the discovery of electricity.

Charles has been doing this ever since he became the featured back. He finds holes and has a lot of toughness.

I like the movement. Now we have to find a way to got get killed at the line of scrimmage on the defense. The secondary isn't doing all that bad but the line isn't generating anything.

The Joker
12-06-2009, 11:32 AM
That exact play you saw from Cassel there is what Orton needs to do if he's ever gonna be a long term answer at QB for us.

Just make a sideways move and extend the play for a second or two. I'm not asking for him to be Elway or anything, but do something other than fold up into a ball and take the sack.

Need to stiffen here, force a FG.

Orton's played an average game, that INT hurts with them driving on the first possession and the fumble.

That a minimum of six points (three either way).

Denver is up only 14-6 when it should easily be at least 17-3 or 20-0.

They do this typically all the time over the last few years, let inferior teams hang around.

Agree. And Moreno is not getting it done right now.. Keep running Buckhalter till they stop him. Orton is being careless with the ball and he's been underthrowing everything mostly. Plus holding on to the ball when he should get rid of it. He's needs to be more aware.

We can't keep letting these turds hang around. Get another score and keep getting them. If the game is close in the 4th, KC will get the MO going. Put them away before that can happen.
