An appearance would be a massive accomplishment for a 1st year coach, system, defense/offense and major roster turnover.

Just get stronger every week... that's all I ask right now.

If there is not a new agreement between the players and owners this year, I believe that if you make the playoffs, you cannot sign any free agents until you lose one. That is going to make it very interesting. Is it better to make the playoffs, be one and done, and handcuffed on improving your team, or just miss and have some more leferage?

I am sure someone on this forum knows the rules better than I do, but it does add an interesting twist to this Threads question.

I don't know what to think.
We're still a little behind San Diego as far as tie-breakers go.
San Diego has already played all of its division games and finished 5-1, we're at 2-1 with 3 more games to go.
San Diego is 6-3 in the conference, we're at 5-3.
What this means is we must beat KC (2x), and the Raiders. Then we must beat Indianapolis
We won't make the play-offs outright, unless we finish at least 11-5.
We could of course get in with a 10-6 record, but with help...

IF, we make it to the play-offs we'd most likely be 1 and out.
Our offense will have to step up once we get into the play-offs.
Right now, at this very moment, the Denver Broncos are the ONLY team in the NFL with a winning record that has scored less than 200 points (196).
The closer team that has scored less than 200 points on offense is the Panthers and they are 3 games under .500 (199 points)
That's got to be a concern...
The only thing that balances out our points scored is that we're 5th in the NFL in points allowed.
Mistake free football and solid defense will dictate how far we can go into the play-offs.

I'm holding a futures ticket on Denver to win the AFCW @ 7-1 and I still think it's going to come down to the tiebreakers. They should be in no matter what & will win at least one game.

If they win the west a 2 seed is not out of the realm of possibility with tiebreakers over Cincy & NE.

we may be one and out, but dude at least consider this, if we get into the playoffs, we will have most likely beaten every division champ in the AFC and 4 out of the 5 other teams in the playoffs?

Having lost to Baltimore and Pittsburgh may have helped us prepare to play at the level we now know will take to win...

The four game losing streak still stings. I want to see us win the division. Maybe that's unreasonable, but I don't care. I don't want to see the Chargers take the division again. Whatever happens in the playoffs happens. For right now, I just want to see us take the division.

I say we miss the playoffs unless we finish 4-1.

... and to be honest I don't see that happening realistically.

Unless this team owns a lesser team like the Chiefs (don't give a **** about their record @ their place) I don't have much faith in us beating both Indy and Philly at their place (especially with Philly in the wild card hunt and Indy needing to beat us to clinch home field unless San Diego loses to Cleavland).

I'll be rooting for us to get in though. It would be great to avoid a four year drought... especially since it would probably help us retain our FA's easier.

Not with the fact that you guys lost to Pitt and Balt so the tie breakers with them are not in your favor.

Just about anything could happen at this point and team health will play a huge role for everyone.

For example, the Saints & Colts look almost unbeatable right now, but what happens if Manning or Brees goes down?

Good news for Denver is that, at this particular moment, they appear to be in as good a shape as they have all season. Knock on wood.

Second factor is rookies running out of gas at the end of a long season. Not too much to worry about there. Moreno hasn't really had to be a workhorse. No other rooks are starting.

Third factor can be when a team gets worn down by a succession of late season road trips. Not too much of a concern, especially since the Broncos had a few extra days to get ready for this week's game. And good news is that they get to finish the regular season with a home game, so that if they do have to go on the wild card road, they should be fairly fresh when it starts.

Then there's that "momentum" thing. Peaking. Getting in the groove. Whatever you want to call it. Another reason why this week's game is critical.

If I had to toss out a wild guess at this point, I'd say Denver finishes 10-6, barely sneaks into the WC round, pulls off one upset, then gets pasted the following week - probably by the Colts again.

The sad thing is, if we get the division, we'd have a decent shot at the #2 seed because of beating Cincy and NE.

In March if you had told me that we were going to even have this discussion I'd have told you that you were crazy-it's great that we are where we are, and if we beat our 8-8 of last Year I'll be satisfied given all that's happened.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I think with the AFC Teams that are in contention, IF we make it we will be one and gone....sorry

i see balt losing to green bay and pittsburgh. both hard road games.

that makes them 9-7 at best.
i can also see the steelers losing to green bay.

both teams can finish 10-6 but i dont see it. if they do both somehow finish 10-6 then yeah we need 4-1.
