Orton-to-Marshall connection a boon for Broncos

Back in Chicago, Kyle Orton used to be criticized for not throwing the ball deep.

The same digs followed Orton to Denver, especially through training camp and the first month of the season.

Perhaps the perception is changing now, because of an improved connection between Orton and receiver Brandon Marshall.

The Orton-to-Marshall connection accounts for nearly one-third of the team's big passing plays (considered over 20 yards): 8 receptions for 297 yards and three touchdowns (of 51, 40 and 75 yards).

"He's the first guy that I've had like this. It's been a change for me and in my development, to be able to trust him and give him those chances," Orton said. "He's a phenomenal player, and I don't see too many people that are, when the ball is in the air, out jumping him or being more physical than he is."

Marshall leads the team with 58 catches (13th most in the NFL among all players), 714 yards and six touchdowns. He said his chemistry with Orton is "growing."

"I just tell him to throw me the ball. What did (Terrell Owens) say, 'Throw me the damn ball?'" Marshall said, laughing. "That's all I tell him."

Orton never had such talent @ WR in Chicago. End of article.

The rest is Lindsay Jones without much to go on meeting a deadline.

After the NY game, the best we can hope is a clinton portis type deal.

BM is a fax of Moss, a close copy.

Listen moron, I said a fax.

He's VERY similar to Moss, Moss was possibibly the best talent off all time, with similar faults....

The fact he will fight for balls is perhaps BETTER than MOSS.

BM opens up the field for other recievers, and still leads in long receptions despite a strong arm.

Go ahead and wait...McD will piut a first on him and trade for a player anda pick.

so helpless, poor poor bmarsh hes only getting paid 2 millon this year and has

such a crappy WINNING quarter back throwing him the ball. man how has he

not jumped off the deep end yet? oh thats right he's probably still due in

court for his 13th arrest.

Look i love 15 ALOT, but lets be realistic, the only person who has put

bmarsh in this situation is BRANDON MARSHALL.

So many people are so sure hes already gone this offseason, im not so sure. His relationship with mcdaniels is strong and that will go a long way to bringing him back next season

Moss and Marshall are completely different types of WR's. Mock is on the butter again. The baby TO comparison is probably the closest comparison and TO was probably a better deep WR.

His contract was written by Shanahan/Goodman.

He's not even on probation moron.

TOTAL ASSUMPTION.

What's more amusing is how you think this is the only player white or other, that has trouble adjusting to the spotlight.

BTW, it wasn't his 15 arrest, not even close.

To my knowledge he has a DUI and traffic ticket.

But your the one making assertions.

Wrong.

Anyway, your talking about 2 WR's that should IMO be in the HOF.

Whatever. The point was that Beavis is going to tender BM anyway, so win mock.

Whatever, BM won games for us in that 6-0 streak.

I expect he will again soon.

I've never been on his ass like some of you butt lickers..

He wouldn't even been making 2.2 if he did'nt make the probowl.

Then he might of simply set out.

So did Kyle Orton.

So did Brian Dawkins.

So did Elvis Dumervil.

Why is it that when Marshall shows up and plays like the star he claims to be, we have to make front-page news over it?

Andre Johnson plays like that every week.

Larry Fitzgerald plays like that every week.

Wayne... Welker... Rice... on and on.

Marshall is 22nd in receiving yards.

It's great that he's contributed to wins. I'm not sure why we need to declare a national holiday when he does, or why his contribution is someone deemed more important than Ryan Clady driving his opponent's face into the turf all afternoon long.

"But, we wouldn't have beaten Dallas without Marshall..."

Great. We could say that about every win... about 10 different guys.

Contributing to wins isn't unusual for talented players. Brandon should be doing that every week.

The blood evidence was cotaminated.

The evidence was still overwhelmig.

It should of been a mistrial since Clark was slaeping with someone.

BTW, OJ was so guity he produced a crime to put himself in jail.

BYW, the second trial was a railroad.

He didn't have money then.
They totall skewered him for simple theft.

No, your "special".

Clady was drafted by Shanahan.

Second, name 1 game where Moreno broke a game changing game.

Doom has played very well. BTW, a Goodman pick,

Dawkins got paid 6 million for 2 years. At 35.

i remember in recent days Orton taling about how he is able to just throw the ball up in the direction of Marshall and trust that he will come down with the pass, similar to the way Fitz is used in Arizona.

that has to be a big change for Orton. not only learning a new system and developing chemistry with new receivers, and learning he has time to get rid of the ball(most of the time) but he also had to learn that he has legit receiving talent in Denver. after years of having garbage to throw to, it has to be a huge change to have talent to throw to.

BroncoMan4ever
12-02-2009, 11:56 PM
Second, name 1 game where Moreno broke a game changing game.

Admidit or not our secondary is the oldest in the NFL.

our secondary is also the most award decorated in the league.

also, i believe Moreno's early run against the Giants was a run that had a lot of bearing on us winning that game. he was caught behind the LOS for loss by 2 Giants defenders only to break free and break off 10 yards and a 1st down. that run set a tone for the game that the Giants were going to have to work their asses off to beat us, it propelled Moreno onto his best game as a pro giving him confidence in himself to run on for the rest of the game.

sure he hasn't had a huge run like a Chris Johnson or AD, but he has been an important piece of our offense. to say otherwise is just ignorant.

BroncoMan4ever
12-03-2009, 12:01 AM
Both were Shanahan picks dumbass.....

who gives a **** whether a guy was a Shanahan, Goodman, or McDaniels pick?

if a guy is part of the team he better contribute. who cares who drafted him? on gameday there are 45 guys on the field in uniform that all play their parts to lead the team to either victory or loss.

while Marshall may get the press and notice for his contributions, his contributions are no more important than any of the 10 other offensive starters. if the line isn't doing their job, Orton doesn't have the time to get rid of the ball and Marshall gets no publicity. it is a team game, some guys get more notice, but no one is more important than the team. we all learned that with the Cutler situation.
