"The decline in Obama's approval rating on Afghanistan is evident among all party groups, with double-digit decreases since September among Republicans (17 points), independents (16 points), and Democrats (10 points)."

It's one of the crappiest war plans ever laid out by a President. Uh we are sending more troops, with these big goals, but in a yr we start withdrawing and in 3 yrs we will be gone?
All that does is make the civilians unwilling to cooperate in anyway. They know in 3 yrs all that will be left it Taliban.
What a crappy plan, I haven't met one person yet who really likes it. Obama is probably going to blow it right when Dems has Repubs on the ropes.

Like PCR said in his article -- the escalation will be enough to produce a stalemate --but not enough to win the war.
This serves the war machine. Its a page from Orwell: endless war against a faceless enemy.
This services the military industrial complex. It's just what they need to justify the bloated and obscene Pentagon budget -- now in the vicinity of around $700 billion a year.
Not even counting the black projects and covert ops. Recall -- in 2002 the CIA refused to turn over its budgetary data to the House/Senate Joint Intelligence Committee for the period before 2001.
So no one really knows the true numbers. Just like with the banksters and the bail out.

Bush left this country is so much shambles on so many fronts, one of Obama's big jobs is just getting the American engine running again. It was broken down, but I have faith it will be running again soon.
There is a good chance Obama could go down in history as the "Great Compromiser" (of modern America), and I don't think that would be a bad thing at all :)

Obama's heart is not in this. He took so long to come up with a plan when he supposedly had one during the campaign. It was just lip service. Instead, he's worried about government taking over everything and pretending that isn't socialism.
