well, they are not doing us any favors... instead of putting their best players on the field, the Steelers seem to be conceding tomorrow's game to the Ratbirds. at 5-5, a loss to PIT would just about finish off any chance of the Ratbirds making the playoffs. now comes word that PIT will not play Roethlisberger at all tomorrow unless he's needed in an emergency.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-sp.roethlisberger29nov29,0,2063113.story

keep in mind that all week long, PIT said Roethlisberger would start the game and Roethlisberger practiced all week.

It seems that Pitt is being smart about this. He developed the headaches as a result of working out, which is a red flag for concussion sufferers. Concussions are serious business and Pitt is smart to bench him. it doesn't work out for us, but whattaya gonna do?

They're not conceding the game, they're protecting a major cornerstone of their franchise.

it seems like the Broncos have been the only team that had to face PIT at full strength. wasn't our game the only one where Poloomolooluaua (or however he spells his f-ing name ;) ) and Roethlisberger both started since game #1?

i don't see PIT and their #3 QB beating BAL. bad for us.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but if Baltimore wins... we've got a game on both teams.... no?

That doesn't seem like such a bad thing. They'll both have tie-breaker on us, so the more games they both lose, the better.

Im with you on this one, but have heard many people saying they would rather see Pitt win this game. I guess I would rather be one game up on two teams, than tied with a team that has the tie breaker over us.

Actually, it cuts both ways. Its not like Pittsburgh is so far in front of us that this carries no risk for them. For all anyone knows, this might help Denver and or Jax nudge past Pittsburgh in the wild card. And if you dont think thats likely to happen, check out who Pittsburgh recently lost to.

at the end of the day, it's better to have:

PIT 7-4
BAL 5-6

than

PIT 6-5
BAL 6-5

the sooner the stakes get put in the heart of the other WC hopefuls, the better.

2 teams are going to make it out of the AFC North. better to have those 2 teams win out and bury the third team, than it is to let all 3 teams hang around with playoffs dreams until weeks 14, 15, and 16.

that's the way i see it.

The reason it would be better for Pitt to win is because as of right now they have the better shot of the 2 at overtaking the bengals for the division lead.

If they do that, we have the tie-breaker over the bengals for the WC and if the steelers win today we would be 2 games up on the ravens.

All of that together would improve our playoff chances, but I would rather just see the Broncos go 5-0 or 4-1 over the last 5 weeks to make it all a moot point.

A split in the series is fine for us as well.

The worst case scenario for Denver is B more winning both games.

I dont give a ****. McDaniels has this team ready to start another 6-0 streak, then a 3-0 streak in the playoffs. So this game really doesnt matter.

I'm not getting it either. With our win on Thursday we knocked Pitt out of the WC race. With a Pitt win today they knock us out.

I havent looked at Jax's schedule, not sure if they are a legit team to win a WC spot or not

But regardless we need to win at least 3 of the next 5

That is just for this point in the season it could go back and forth with each new game all the way to game 16.

Id rather balt win at this point.
Unlikely outcome I'd like to see, the game ends in a tie.

I disagree. I am probably in the minority, but I don't want to see this Broncos team back into anything. Dawkin's mantra has been "Take it," and that's what I want the Broncs to do. Of course I want them to get in the playoffs, but as far as my rooting for different scenarios, I want this team to have the heat kept on them and earn everything they get. My thinking is that it will be a good mental lesson for the team in the future.

SO, if Baltimore wins and we are a game up on both teams, fabulous. All we have to do is win more than they do the rest of the way out. Sounds like a good goal to me.

I don't think we'll have to worry too much about Jacksonville as they have a tough schedule down the stretch.

@ SF -- L
Houston -- W
Miami -- W
Indy -- L
@ New England -- L
@ Cleveland -- W

I think they go 3-3 or maybe even 2-4 over their last six. So they finish 9-7, most likely.
