Congrats to the defense for an outstanding game against the Giants.

Obviously, the focus and intensity were there, and i have a good feeling about how the club will respond over the remainer of the schedule.

All that said...

Did we make Eli look horrible?

Or is he, in fact, horrible?

It's amazing to think Eli recently got a nearly $100M extension. I say that because

(1) Eli obviously couldn't CARRY his team...

(2) Eli couldn't even LEAD his team...

(3) Eli reverted to the 'mopey' demeanor that totally has the vibe of a QB who doesn't WANT to be "The Guy". Totally Jeff George-esque.

On the basis of this entire season, I'd say Eli has dropped down to #3 in in his draft class of QBs, with Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers significantly ahead of him.

My take: Eli is capable of managing the game on a high quality team, but on a lesser team, he implodes. From the Giants' first offensive play last night, Eli was making mistakes and failing to see open receivers.

He's Peyton's brother, but he just isn't especially good.

Again, props to our 'D' for embarrassing and exposing Eli.

eli is a good QB, hes got a superbowl ring against the 18-0 patriots...

hes not his brother, but hes good and definitely worth the extension.

Eli Cutler???

Eli would have to start throwing his teammates under the bus in order to reach Jay's level, but it's interesting to note that neither the Bears or the Giants look like they're playoff material.... despite the fact that their QBs are supposed to be playoff material.

They sure aren't playing like it.

Would you rather have Eli, or Orton?

For the money (and cap space), I'd rather have Kyle.

Eli is a significantly better player. He is missing a big playmaking WR, and Brandon Jacobs is tiptoeing this year for some reason

He looked a lot better to me when he had Burress out there.

To me he looked like a guy who had zero interest in playing this game. Wasn't he the one that pouted about short week.

I think Eli is a good QB, but he is overrated due to his name. He could've easily wound up with 4 interceptions in this game, Goodman dropped a couple and there was a chance someone else had on a play if I remember right.

Why can't we just say that Eli and the Giants ran in to a good Denver defense.

Why does it have to be "what's the matter with Eli?"

Go back and look at the opening sentence of the original post.

The 'D' played well... but after getting embarrassed the previous week, it's entirely likely that Eli is part of the equasion, too.

Not saying Eli is bad -- we can save that talk for JaMarcus Russell-- but he must be a MAJOR disappointment to Giants fans, considering what he cost them, the cap space he occupies, and the lack of leadership he displays..

Eli is a decent to good QB but don't ever confuse him with an elite QB.

He got his ring and his new fat contract because Asante Samuel dropped an easy INT and because of David Tyree's helmet.

When the defense is playing like it did last night (like it did to start the season) they make QB's look really foolish. Palmer looked pretty awful. Brady looked terrible (and threw for like 6 TD's the very next week). Romo looked like an idiot.

This defense, when it's head is in the right place, can do that. They get a lot of pressure, move the pocket up the middle, and the secondary may be the best in the league.

I think it's hard to blame it on Eli... it's sort of becoming a trend.

I think the Bronco defense made Manning and the Giants look bad than Manning being a bad QB or whatever. Sure, the Giants have been also in a funk themselves, but Manning threw for like 380 yards the week before, so not like he's been playing horrible.

Eli's not horrible, but he's not in the elite QB club either. He suffers because Coughlin is one of the most gutless playcallers in the league. The guy is such a pussy.

I kept yelling throughout the game:

"Eli, you are NOT your brother."

And yes, he definitely was assuming the Cutleresque persona last night of wishing he was anywhere but playing at Invesco field.

He wasn't the only one. Him, the owner, other teammates. I kinda wonderd if they just mailed it in...

Eli just had a bad game, and a lot of it had to do with us bullrushing the quarterback and making him hurry his throws...

Eli Cutler???

Eli Orton??? Eli played like crap b/c the rest of his team on both sides of the the ball played like crap. Same held true for Orton over the previous 4 week losing streak.

Yeah Brandon Jacobs was an epic letdown, I spent all week worrying about that??

Where was this pressure defense the last four games? I'm glad the coaches "woke up" and realized what we need to do to win. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I hope we play like this the rest of the way.

Its a bad game, nothing more nothing less. Over-reaction continues to plague the mane.

Well he only had 384 yards passing with 3 TD's 4 days prior to playing the Broncos when he lit up the Falcons defense. So, yeah, I'd say he's a good QB. I'd take him on this team in a heart beat over Orton. He just had guys in his face all night long and he had absolutely no running game to take any of the pressure off.
