Does anyone know if local networks will pick up games that are carried by NFL network. I will be in NYC this week, and obviously they have a minor Giants following. Will I get the game because it is a local team or will I spend turkey day in a bar?

Those local networks do carry the games. Believe here in NY it will be on WPIX.

I believe home and away markets are required to carry a local game on broadcast television (exception would be for the home team if the game doesn't sell out). I was able to watch the Panthers-Dolphins game a couple of weeks ago on the local affiliates here even though I don't have the NFL Network.

This is true. For the Bears 49ers they had it on local and NFLN.

They are required to show locally.

Look into AT&T Uverse they include NFLN with their U200 package.

I think it has to be offered on a local if the game is on cable because not every cable company carries NFLN or at least that was the way it was worded when the NFLN started carrying games and it hasn't been changed on a yearly basis.

If you have Time Warner, then you're screwed.

I thought a local affiliate out of NYC would carry the game, but if that's true, it's not the same one we get upstate because I've seen absolutely nothing about one carrying the game as of yet.

It sucks, but I'm used to it.

NFL.com is saying they'll be showing the game live - streaming. Am I wrong here?

Its says

Watch the Thursday night kickoff show at 6:30p.m. ET on Nfl Network, and then stay tuned for the game

If I have the kick off show shouldnt I have the game, intstead of stinken girls flag football and the cotten bowl like the guide stays. :(

Every NFLN game that has been shown here while the Skins have played is only available on the NFLN....not the local network.

This is straight from the Giant's website and my tv says the game is playing too. It's a rule the NFL has to show the games in the local markets.

THOSE IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA THAT DO NOT HAVE THE NFL NETWORK WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE GIANTS VS. BRONCOS GAME ON WPIX (CH. 11 in NY) ON THANKSGIVING

don't expect to watch much of the game on nfl.com

what they do is spend most of the game with the talking heads in studio, and then they cut to the game for only a few minutes at a time and then its back to the studio. i tried watching the HOU/DEN game on nfl.com last season(?) and it was frustrating. you didn't so much see the game... as much as you heard talking heads and sideline reporters tell you what was happening in the game.

the NFLN is evil.
