straight up suck, with exception of mcdaniels and caldwell. caldwell had the team set for him. other coaches:

singletary (having decent year but losing record)
mora (awful)
rex ryan (lost 5 of last 6 games i believe)
raheem morris (1-9...)
jim schwartz (doing ok, lions showing life but still losing nearly every game)

not a good year for new head coaches. but that is why they typically get multiple years to prove themselves...

Raheem Morris has fired more coordinators than the team has wins.

steven jackson i think is third best RB in the NFL, and one of my favorite players to watch.

when do first year coaches light the world on fire? Smith, Tomlins, and Harbargh are outliers. You make mistakes, hell weren't the Broncos .500 the first year with Shanny?

and Tom Cable.

ETA: my bad, Cable merely impersonates a coach.

Mora isn't a first year coach...and he inherited a playoff caliber team. But I agree...he is awful.

The majority don't do well because they are taking over teams that had 0-5 wins the season before. Guys like Tomlin, that do good, usually are taking over for coaches that retired rather than ones that were fired.

Tomlins offense is not that great. The Steelers still have and have never lost Dick Lebeau. Take that guy away and Troy and the Steelers have a worse than worse record.

Interestingly enough, Josh Freeman (a former K-Stater) is likely to save Raheem Morris' (a K-State defensive coordinator for one year) job...

just sayin, they did move up for him afraid wed take him. given how hes doing with such a ****ty team, he probably wouldnt have been too bad here.

Aren't people forgetting about Jim Caldwell?

I would trade his record for McDaniel's so far.

Yup. 1st time NFL Headcoach taking over a team that has not had fewer than 12 wins in a season since 2002...His job is so difficult.

As for the comments on Tomlin, look at the difference in the steelers without Palumalu and with him...if they lose LaBeau they are f'ed.

I'm betting you'd consider trading his QB for McDaniels' too...
