Next two weeks are huge. They lay Philly coming off a loss at home and then at Denver.

We need to hold serve by beating Pitt tonight, winning at Washington and then defending the homefield against the Chuggers.

The bad part about all this is our schedule is much more difficult than theirs. They caught NYG struggling and we'll probably play them when they're on the rebound.

Yeah, but Denver still have 3 games against Oak/KC, while SD has one. Those arent gimmees but they seem more winnable than Pittsburgh/NYG.

Pitt has already beat the Chargers. Losing a "common" game tonight isn't as bad for Denver as it would be for San Diego if Denver pulls it out and flips the game.

Both have lost to Baltimore. Both have played their AFC East opponent. Both still have their game against the Skins and their AFC South opponent.

The only team with a winning record that San Diego has beaten is the Giants who, while they can still right the ship, are falling apart right now. 4 of Denver's 6 wins have come against teams with winning records, and the Broncos have beaten 3 6-2 teams. 3 of San Diego's wins have come against Oakland and KC. 1 of Denver's wins has come against that group.

Denver has played Cleveland, who San Diego still has them to play.

San Diego still has to come to Denver AND play the 6-2 Cowboys and Bengals, both of which Denver has already beat.

A Denver loss tonight is much more important to SD than it is to the Broncos. The critical game is in 2 weeks.

The Chargers will lose at least 3 of the following:

Philly
Denver
Dallas
Cincy
Tennessee (yes, I said it)

Regardless what the Chargers do, the Broncos are no longer an insecure football team. It is about what the Broncos can or cannot do, not what the Chargers are doing. We now have a coach that truly lives by the "one game at a time" philosophy. They won't be watching the Chargers on TV before they take the field, they will be focused only on the team they are facing on the field.

Both teams have a lot of winnable but also loseable games left. As well has Denver has done so far, they have little margin for a drop off. A lot of our games have been very tight wins. If that kind of evens out, it could become nervous.

Denver's been playing very well. I just think we struggled with Dallas and now their offense is clicking. We still could beat them. I'm just glad to not have to play them now that they've unleashed Austin.

He's given their offense a whole new dimension.

I'm glad SD still has to play them.

So, let's say the "nightmare" scenario plays out and the Chargers over take us for the division lead. We are still in the drivers seat for the 5th seed. The other Wild Card is coming out of the North for sure (Cincy or Pitt). I don't see Baltimore catching either of them, nor do I see 3 teams making the playoffs from that one division. So that leaves us and someone out of the North battling for a spot with:

Jets (rookie QB who if he hasn't already will hit the rookie wall will do so)
Dolphins (would pretty much have to win out)
Houston (too inconsistent)
Jacksonville (See Houston)

Denver might not be the best matchup for Dallas. Theyve been good at dialing up pressure and have good CBs. I question whether some of the teams they have played have that kind of combo.

The SD game is key but until SD beats a team that Denver loses to it's still Denver division

Even a loss to Pitts tonight means very little since SD has also loss to Pitts.

Division then common games then conference. We both beat the AFCE team . We play Indy SD plays Tenn

Yeah, I wasnt saying things are going to pot but there might be some rough waters and nervous moments. I agree that 11 and even 10 wins should put us there. With 4 games against Oakland, KC, and Washington remaining, hopefully that puts us in a good position to make the playoffs, but ideally win the division and get a home game.
