So hilariously stupid, this entire post. But I remember arguing with you a year or two ago when you said Carmelo sucks and that he was a ballhog who chucked up shots (even though he was like 5th in the league in FG% at the time) so I'm really not shocked.

I get it; you're a Jazz fan and hate the Nuggets. That's cool, I certainly enjoy fans who are diehards because I love the NBA and it's good for the game overall. But one day, it'd be nice if you knew what you were talking about.

Anyways. KMart. He's having a fantastic year and is the team's best defensive player. They're cautious with his knees for good reason, because if he's out for an extended period of time it'd be real trouble for the team. I realize you don't watch the Nuggs on a night to night basis (and I wouldn't expect you to, obviously) but the guy is far from garbage. He's overpaid for sure (his contract is ridiculous) but he's having a great year. Averaging a double-double and being the QB of the defense really. So to the other guy who says there's zero consequence of Kenyon being out, that's true and it's not. It's true in the short term. You'd rather have him out one game now rather than 10 games later. If he's not healthy in the playoffs, it'd be a huge blow to the team. But he is a huge key piece to this team. I mean the guy isn't a top flight PF like, say, Boozer but to say he's a worthless player dumb.

Anyways, with that rant out of the way, coming down the stretch it is going to be a wild race. Assuming the Lakeshow takes #1, the Nugs, Mavs, and Jazz will be fighting it out every night for #2. Teams 1-4 in the West are all balling so well right now, the playoffs will be bananas. That second round (assuming the top four teams all win their first round games) will be epic.

What's frustrated me this year about the Nuggets is that they couldn't swing a deal for another big guy. I know that making trades isn't always easy to do, but to not get a big guy and then make this stupid push for Ilgauskas is just frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Big Z in Denver... But he was never going anywhere besides back to Cleveland, so that's a huge waste of time. For us, for Dallas, etc. Nobody was getting him but the Cavs. The NBA needs to change that rule while we're on topic. Maybe it's a sour grapes thing coming from me, but I think it's B.S. the Cavs get him back. I know it happens every year, and it's stupid every year. Nuggets will draft for size this offseason I'm sure though. If they could get a guy to come in and contribute immediately like Ty Lawson has, it'd be a huge boost to the team. Then they could really contend. I like the Nuggies how they are now, they've played well, but a boost to the frontline would be huge.

This got long. I'm unsure why. Probably because I haven't had a good NBA discussion in a while... Although this is far from good. Zing. Anyways. Go Nuggies today.

This is the guy who goes into other sports threads, abuses the fans and neg reps them for liking the sport. Don't worry about him.

Eh, I find him OK for a Jazz fan. I hate the Jazz as much as he hates the Nuggets. I just think at times his hatred blinds him and he makes ridiculous comments. That'd be like me saying Derron Williams was terrible or something. I hate the Jazz, but I can still say that DW is an amazing player.

When I said garbage player that is the slang for his style of play and not that I think he sucks. He is a good player that is injury prone and just waiting for the next one to happen and isn't very tough when it comes to playing through injuries. He has averaged 15 pts and 12 rebounds last couple months or something like that but yes he is a garbage player who plays defense, rebounds and get's a lot of pts on dunks/putbacks. He is not a guy you gameplan shots for in your offense. Your not going to post him up and have him take over the game or have him beat you from the outside.

As for your argument on Melo I never said he sucked just at the time which was 2-3 years ago I believe when they first traded for AI I said they wouldn't win anything with two guys that jack up 20 plus shots a game. At the time they both averaged just over a point for shot attempt which is a recipe to lose.

It's all good rhymes your one on here who actually talks bb though and I don't hate the Nuggets as much as you think. I sure like them better than LA.

Ah still but hurt about stupid soccer I see. It was more a shot a spineless Llama as you probably don't remember how arrogant he was before he stuck his foot in his mouth so many times talking NBA but I see you still got your panties all in a bunch over me saying soccer sucks in my opinion and most americans agree. Call the wambulance please with the funny rep smack because I have been a fixture on the NBA threads for several years.

Nuggets had a golden opportunity today to beat the Lakeshow again, but they're the Champs and they're not going out without a fight. I don't want to say it was a good game because neither team played well, but it was close and somewhat exciting down the stretch. Can't believe both Carmelo and Kobe played so poorly. One more game against the Lakers at Pepsi though.

Why because I exposed your ass for claiming to win a bunch of money on a fake wagering transaction?

Why don't you tell us all how awesome the ABA nuggets were and tell us about their ABA title.

Kenyon Martin isn't very tough playing through injuries?

Ok, list the rest of the NBA players who have come back from microfracture surgery on both knees. Ok, not a fair question, because the answer is no one. How about from one microfracture surgery? Nobody is tougher than Kenyon Martin, and he would have collected $94 million had he not lifted a finger to rehab. Stupid remark.

This is interesting:

LeBron James applies for a number change. He's going to be #6 next year.

On the one hand, a zillion people have LBJ jerseys, so that stinks for them. On the other, I honestly wish people would stop wearing #23 altogether. Granted ,#6 was worn by Dr. J, and I'm sure you could make a case for a lot of different players. But still, not wearing MJ's number is good, I think.

You should see this lunatic running around on youtube saying LBJ is a satanist and a freemason. He is claiming that the real reason he is changing his number to 6 is to honor the devil.

They are playing very well right now. They easily could have beat the Spurs but they missed so man damn foul shots it was ridiculous. Don't look now but the Suns are actually rebounding and playing good defense. I think the Suns finally have their best rotation going now, starting Lopez at center now and bringing Frye off the bench. I think Lopez had like 4 blocks in the first half of that Spurs game. He definitely brings a defensive and rebounding and hustling attitude to the starters. And the Suns only have 2 road games this month, that could be huge. Even though I like Barbosa's game, I'm sure the Suns are in no hurry to rush him back from that wrist injury. The rotations right now are very good. Although I would like to see Clark get more minutes just from a standpoint it will really help him get a head start for next year.

The Suns just bumrushed the Nuggies, and that was the 2nd game of a back to back, lol.

Moving quickly to his left, Bryant rose into the air, directed his elbow towards the basket and launched a high-arching bomb as the clock flashed 0.3 seconds. With how long the ball seemed to hang in the air, one might have gone up to the concession stand to grab a pretzel (salted, of course), before it hit the backboard and went through the net.

Lakers win.

In the three months since that buzzer-beater, Bryant has won five more games for the Lakers in the final seconds of contests against Milwaukee, Sacramento, Boston, Dallas and Memphis, and nearly missed a game-winner in Toronto that would have made it seven.

Here’s a closer look at No. 24’s late game heroics:

Dec. 4 vs Miami
As described above, Bryant’s first game winner of the season was perhaps the most dramatic, a banked three from 27 feet with Dwyane Wade all over him.

Dec. 16 at Milwaukee
On the second night of a road back-to-back, the Lakers battled the Bucks for 48 minutes only to need an extra period when Bryant’s game-winning attempt over Charlie Bell rimmed out from 16 feet on the left side of the lane. The Bucks looked to have things well in hand when they jumped to a six-point lead (106-100) with 1:25 to go, but Kobe had other ideas. First came a jumper, then an and-1 layup, and finally a dagger jumper from nearly the same spot that beat the Bucks 107-106 at the buzzer. Kobe had scored the game’s final seven points, including the swished game winner over Bell, the Bucks unable to bring a double team since Phil Jackson had wisely chosen to inbounds the ball in the backcourt and let Bryant run up the floor and find his preferred spot.

Jan.1 vs Sacramento
With a rather sluggish team effort against a scrappy Kings team in the first game of the New Year, the Lakers found themselves down two points with 28 seconds left after Beno Udrih hit a tough shot in the lane. Shannon Brown had a chance to put the Lakers up one on a wide-open three-point attempt with 8.8 seconds remaining, but it missed, forcing L.A. to foul Ime Udoka. But when Udoka clanked both free throws, things were all set up for the exact situation that would happen in Memphis on Feb. 23 after O.J. Mayo missed two free throws. Sure enough, with 4.1 seconds to go and Sasha Vujacic inbounding, Pau Gasol caught the pass and patiently waited for Bryant to free himself of Sergio Rodriguez. With Rodriguez stumbling off Bryant’s cut, Kobe backtracked to the three-point line and launched a high-arcing triple that splashed the net as time expired.

Jan. 13 @ Dallas
There was a bit more time left on the clock when Bryant nailed his fourth game winning shot of the season over Josh Howard in Dallas in the middle of January (28.9 to be exact). As had become a theme for Bryant in 2009-10, he hit the shot in spite of an injury – back spasms this time – that had caused him to miss the entire fourth quarter of L.A.’s previous night loss in San Antonio. Moving poorly throughout a 35-minute effort, Bryant scored only 10 points, but with the game tied at 95 in the final minute, he still managed to hit the deciding 19-foot bucket in what turned out to be a 100-95 Lakers win.

Jan. 31 @ Boston
It hadn’t been Bryant’s best shooting game of the season by any stretch, as he’d struggled through nagging injuries to make 7-of-19 shots, but with 7.3 seconds left in the game, Boston certainly would have preferred that someone else were shooting.

To set Kobe up, Ron Artest had scored in the paint to cut Boston’s lead to 89-88 and then drawn a push-off call on Paul Pierce to give the Lakers the ball back with 27.5 seconds to play. Bryant was struggling to get any lift on his ankle after hurting it in the previous game at Philadelphia, coming up short on several jumpers … but after throwing a post entry pass to Andrew Bynum and getting the ball back right away for the reset, he took Ray Allen to the top of the key, created a small amount of space with a pump-fake, rose/faded away and nailed a jumper to put the Lakers up one. Allen then missed a three-point attempt at the other end to seal Boston’s fate.

Feb. 23 @ Memphis
In the final seconds of a hard fought game in Memphis, O.J. Mayo’s two missed free throws left the Lakers down two with the ball and 18.8 seconds to play. Ball in hand, Kobe Bryant drove past his man to the hoop, but was met my Marc Gasol with Rudy Gay collapsing. Gay blocked his layup attempt into the floor and off the basket out of bounds to give L.A. the ball back.

Phil Jackson then called a time out and drew up a pretty play that went from Artest out of bounds to Gasol on the near sideline, and then on to Lamar Odom at the top of the key. Gasol promptly set a pick on Kobe’s man, Gay, earning Kobe a great look at an open - if 27 feet - three-pointer that he absolutely drilled through the net without so much as a flick of the rim. With 4.3 seconds remaining, Mayo had a chance to answer at the other end, but Gasol’s help defense helped preserve L.A.’s victory and Kobe’s sixth game winner.

Just some quick comments about recent games.

Tony Parker broke his hand, out 6 weeks or longer. This could really hurt the Spurs.

Suns and Pacers - Frye ejected after mini brawl. 6 Technical fouls given out and get this, the little **** ass who started it all only got a person foul. Don't you hate that crap? Smallest little **** on the court thinks he's a bad ass and gets everybody going and then stays back while his teamates do all the shoving and pushing and he comes out of it with only a person foul. Those refs were weak. I think the NBA should eject the person who starts the fight no matter what.

(I'm currently waving an angry fist in the air, I assure you. I'm also disappointed because that's probably the Nuggets' season right there. Weak. I mean, we probably weren't going to win it all anyways, but still. Here's to the offseason, I guess.)

I think the NBA should eject the person who starts the fight no matter what.

agreed, Watson was a little prick the whole game and then started that fight.

Frye will likely be out Friday which sucks since its a huge game for us

Nuggets remind me of 97 98 Jazz. They needed to add a decent big man before the dead line and they didn't and now it will take some luck to win it all. Pretty soon the window will be slammed shut as Billups is no spring chicken.

I put Kmart on the pine and I luckily picked up Blache who has been the best fantasy C in the league as soon as Washington blew the team up.

Dude, I love his game. Not the most gifted athelete but he's a scrappy MF. I hated when the Suns let him go. He used to get under Kobe's skin so easy. I loved him at the #2 guard backing up Jason Richardson. That gave us some good height at the 2 spot, with both guys going 6'6. Barnes is a good defender also and rebounds great for a guard. Plus he's crafty enough to get some garbage points inside and can hit that 3, just not super consistant enough at shooting though for a starting role IMO.

Nuggies go from 2nd to 5th just like that. That's how tough the West is. Let's go Suns, get that #2 spot. Let's home those Mavs and Jazz lose a few here. It's going to be tough though with Lopez out now for 2 weeks, and Nash hurting a bit. Dude needs a few nights off to get over that rib injury. His shooting has hit rock bottom.

Nuggets coach George Karl is undergoing six weeks of treatment for throat and neck cancer.

George vs. The Dragon

DAY 17:

Tuesday, March 9, 7:30 a.m. -- Denver Nuggets coach George Karl pops in his mouthpiece and puts on his helmet and braces himself for a brutal 15 minutes, but this isn't football. This is cancer radiation.

We're at Denver's Swedish Medical Center. The helmet is actually a white, hard-mesh mask that fits to every contour of Karl's big bucket head. It has red crosses all over it, like a hockey goalie's. He lays his 283 pounds on the table and the technicians clamp the mask on hard. How Karl breathes I'll never know. They secure his limbs and ask him to hold a blue plastic donut so no part of him moves. He looks like Hannibal Lecter about to get fried.

"It makes you a little claustrophobic," the 58-year-old coach tries to say through the mask. "But what are you gonna do? Leave?" Coaching the wildly talented but wildly uneven Nuggets is hard enough, let alone doing it with throat and neck cancer, but that's what Karl is trying to do. Everybody tells him it's not possible, and today, maybe he's starting to believe them.

With only three of his torturous six weeks of treatment done, and the inside of his mouth looking like he just took 100 bites out of a lava-hot pizza slice, and his head throbbing and his eyes hollow, Karl looks like a guy who should be on a stretcher, not an NBA bench.

"George, this is only going to get harder," a nurse tells him. "You're not going to feel like working." Clearly, she's never met George Karl.

Yep. We were down Kenyon and Coach Karl and basically were without Andersen and Lawson so I could care less if Bryant didn't play

Also we went into LA and beat their @ss without Anthony when they did have a full compliment of players.

I am concerned about Lawson, he hasn't contributed since he ran into Bynum the last time we played LA. Also concerned about Kenyon's health, and with Lawson out it looks like Chauncey is getting a bit fatigued just like last year which is why we stockpiled PG's like Ace and Lawson on the roster.

Even if the Nuggets were to win the title this year somehow, i still think their best opportunity to win the title was last year when they had LA on the ropes and Orlando made it to the Finals where the Nuggets would have beaten them in 6 games imo

I thought Lawson played OK last nite...he made that great steal from Odom on the inbounds....and pushed the ball like he nornally does. But he didn't take it to the basket like he has in the past, don't know if that's jitters from when he hurt his shoulder or not. And I agree....Chauncey looks as if he is out of gas. Either way it was a great win for Denver...hopefully we get the 3rd seed and play Portland. Let Dallas get the 2 seed and play a tough, tough San Antonio team.

The 6th, 7th, and 8th seeds have the same exact record right now and are wide open in the air, so the 1st, second and third seeds have no idea who they will play. For all we know the Lakers could get SA 1st round.

Don't know why you thought the Nuggets could get by without KMart this season at all. They have a winning record with Carmelo out, and Chauncey as well. They're well under .500 without Martin in the lineup. I don't know if I'd call him their MVP, but he may well be their MIP (most important player) this season.

No we (the Jazz) want Portland! I'll take Portland over OKC or SA. Durant is becoming very lethal. I love his game and hope he doesn't develop the NBA diva attitude. He is an easy kid to like at this point.

I'd be ok with Jazz playing the Suns with home court over OKC or SA. SA is such a wildcard when they get rolling they can give anyone a hard time.

We have a 1 game lead, and the tiebreaker, the magic number for the division is 2, so we can afford to lose to Phoenix and still clinch the division.

http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_14856536

Your right but Denver is playing three games in which any of the three can beat them. Didn't say they would but they could lose 2 of 3.

Lots of hate in this thread, kinda pathetic. It's going to be an incredibly exciting time from now right through to the end of the playoffs. It's gonna be a fun ride for fans and neutrals alike.

I think without Karl the Nuggets don't really have a shot, but as long as he gets well that's the most important thing.

San Antonio is a possible loss, but it is a home game (33-6) so a win is likely, Phoenix is a likely loss(second of a B2B, on the road), but I dont see how Memphis would beat us, especially since we will have a day off for that game, KMart might be back, how much will be riding on that game, and the fact that Memphis will be making vacation plans for that one.

But with all that in mind, we probably beat SA, lose to Memphis, then turn around and beat Phoenix the way this season has gone.

I am not giving Denver the division yet. Utah has Golden state and home against Phoenix to play. Denver has to play San Antonio, Memphis and Phoenix. Denver can lose any of those games.

I think your putting way to much stock into how much rest and stuff the teams have going on. Memphis was in playoff contention for most of the year and would love nothing more than to beat Denver and spoil the show. Like I said all three of those games are possible losses now the Phoenix game is huge for Denver or they may start playoffs without home court.

Truth is truth.

I don't care if the refs call the game "no blood..." or "touch fouls, just be consistent. It's obvious that they can't do it. And it doesn't matter what time of the year/season it is. Is it a basketball game or a game about me, me, me (the officials). The players aren't stupid. They can adjust their game to which ever way the officials want to call it, except when the officials can't make up their mind.

The fact that everyone is afraid of the refs and retaliation is plain stupid. Certainly, officiating is tough and you can't see everything but for the love of the game, there are three of them and they should be consistent amongst themselves and between the two teams.

And I've seen it go for and against the teams I like and it takes away from the game. The last thing I want to hear is...Yeah your team won but if a few calls go the right way we win. I don't want to win that way. I wouldn't do it one on one or in a pick up game. And you can't justify it with other fans.

Why can't the fans, media or teams be critical of the NBA refs? They certainly voice they opinion when the NFL officials make mistakes.

I do think it's funny though that the Lakers and Spurs will probably meet in round 1. The Lakers didn't want to meet them in the 1st round and same with the Spurs. Hopefully they beat the livin piss out of eachother.

But I don't see how anybody in the West can look at the teams in the playoffs and see somebody they would prefer over another team. 1-8 it's going to be a battle no matter who you end up playing.

Nuggets getting some pep back in their step with Kmart in the lineup. Nice to see them smash Stevie Nash in the mouth tonight.

From Probasketballtalk.com
"The Nuggets can lock up the three seed if they can win tonight against Phoenix. If not, they would need the Jazz to lose to the Warriors tonight (not likely) then beat the Suns on Wednesday night. However, if Phoenix beats Denver tonight and the Jazz win both their remaining games, the Nuggets can fall all the way to the five slot.

Phoenix can lock up the three seed if they can win out, but that will not be easy -- Denver tonight then Utah on Wednesday. (That two-win Suns scenario means the Jazz and Nuggets in the first round as the four and five seeds). If Denver beats the Suns tonight, it locks in a Suns vs. Jazz first round matchup."

I think it sucks that any team would have to play back to back games during any of their last 5. I think the league should change that. Each of those games are important and each year they seem to be, so I hope the league can just extend the regular season by a few more days and be done with back to backs in the final 5 games.

I hope, for the Suns sake, that Lopez can get back for the 1st round of the playoffs. They don't have a chance to get past the Lakers without him. Anybody hear any news on his update? Suns were supposed to re-evaluate him yesterday since he's been going through his therapy.

ouch. Don't go bagging on Nelly now. There's not a nicer more humble coach in the league that has won more games..........lol. Yeah, his style of ball, along with Di'Antoni's will never win a championship. Nelly likes small ball too much and Di'Antoni doesn't like using his bench.

Ya but they have had some damn good wins this year to...2-1 against LA and 2-0 against clev...and fought through a lot of injuries and the whole Karl saga...I think they have been pretty damn stellar through all of that:strong:

But please cut Petro...please

It's amazing how much this team misses Karl. This jumpshot bull****, horrible defensive rotation and disregard for the boards just wouldn't fly if he was there. Even Chauncey has lost his rythym offensively.

Ok here it is Jazz Nuggets first round series. As a Jazz fan I think Denver will win in 6 if they win first two games. If Utah can split and go home for two it could be different but that would require Boozer to take out his tampon. I am tired of that guy being such a puss and only caring about himself. Rhymes was banned for something stupid.

(wink, wink)

ANYWAYS.

Yeah the key for the Nuggies here is holding down home court. The Nuggs have played like complete crap down the stretch so I don't see them winning a playoff game @ Utah, which is probably the best home court in the league.

As a Nuggs fan I'm hoping Nuggies in 7. I mean, I'm hoping Nuggies in 4, but that's not realistic, obviously. I think this home court is pretty crucial in this series. Suns did the Nugs a huge favor by beating Utah the other night.

Jalen rose said the Alititude will be the difference for Denver. I just want to ask him what does the think the altitude of Salt Lake is? That being said I agree with your above post that home court makes the difference except I see Denver stealing one in Utah.

Yeah they could trade tampons and give reviews on which one works the best. At least these will be the last 6 games I will have to see Booze in Utah and hopefully AK47. Ak is another pussy. Booz gets a lot of heat for being a pussy but ak is the real anchor bringing down the franchise. I always gave Booz the benefit of the doubt but we can't resign him. He keeps getting these phantom injuries without being touched. No way can you pay money to a big pussy you can't count on.

For the series the fan base is pretty deflated. Everyone was ready to rock before the suns disaster. I'm still pissed about it. I'm guessing its a lot like how the nugs fan base is feeling. Nuggets had another great game from Melo and everyone overall but they need to step up on defense. Sadly, I see a team that gets caught up with playing offense and lapsing on D. You can't give up 114 and expect to win. Teams that live by the three to die by the three but they must stop or at least contest the pick and roll. They have got to rotate over and help out.

get real, dude, i am talking about the basketball matchup. the nuggets lost one of their most valuable players at the end of the year, and their coach yet still managed to finish with homecourt in the first round, and play a team that looks to be by far the weakest in the west at this current time. it also sets them up to face the #1 seed in round 2 which just happens to also be playing poorly and is more likely to be defeated than the Mavs or Suns.

Utah is missing 2 of their top players, and another of their top players is banged up, and a 4th (CJ Miles) is also hurt. Let me re-phrase, the most depleted team in the west? That's another fact.

Utah is missing 2 of their top players, and another of their top players is banged up, and a 4th (CJ Miles) is also hurt. Let me re-phrase, the most depleted team in the west? That's another fact.

No it isn't.

The Nuggets are extremely fortunate to be where they are in the playoffs - that is an out and out fact.

No it isn't.

Yep. The facts are there, the nuggets are the most fortunate team in the west, possibly the league, with how they placed in the playoffs.

To change the subject; Who saw that Carmelo commercial last night during the game (the fans of Utah one)?

It was kinda cultish and creepy. I mean, what the hell was that?

My wife was sitting with me but not watching, even she looked up and ask "what the **** was that!"

I didnt even look at the link till just now. And that was a ****ty thing for az to put up. Though in context I dont think he was trying to belittle Karls cancer, he was trying to belittle 6X8's posts. But every time that guy posts, 6X8 has to brag about how he's on ignore, yet he makes it obvious that he reads az's posts that are directed at him by going on about how he has him on ignore every time az replies to his posts. Thats what I was talkin about.

6X8 needs to either man up and take az off ignore, or actually ignore him and everything he has to say. Getting very annoying.

Nugs-Jazz game 2 tonight. Id rather talk about that.

Exactly I wasn't referencing Karl's cancer and never had cheered it on or anything just responding to moron 6X8 that all he does is never have any conversation and just rip people or brag about ignore. Dagmar is like the reverand Jackson or Sharpton that always wants to bring in that your cheering someone with cancer if you say something other than fluff about the nuggets the way those guys use the race card. The one poster meant nothing about Karl's cancer and was talking that the nuggets drew an injury riddled Jazz team but in classic form he spun it to trashing Karl. Go look at the ambiguously gay duo's posts from last 3 weeks and you will see no NBA talk rather just following me around claiming I am trolling them. It all started with me pointing out a nugget fan calling out the refs in a 20 pt loss to the Spurs. Anyways I have never cheered on Karl's illness and been in these NBA threads a lot longer than those two. Dagmar needs to quit claiming I did use Karl's illness as a jab and take his own advice and stay in the queer soccer thread with his other butt buddy Llama.

Utah will have a hard time getting this series to 6 games with no big men upfront and no one who can guard Melo one on one effectively. I expect a short series and then the nuggets will get a Laker team that destroyed OKC.

Yeah the first round scheduling is a joke. There is no reason to drag out these playoffs til end of June.
