Rush Was Punked: “Obama Thesis” Hoax
by Claudine Zap
http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/93122?fp=1

It must have seemed so perfect. An obscure blogger unearths some pages of President Obama's college thesis. The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein of Time magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain for the Constitution.

The whole thing was nothing more than a satirical post on a humor blog. But Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn't laughing. Here's how it went down.

An unknown blogger picked up on a made-up post meant as a joke, which claimed that Joe Klein had gotten his hands on 10 pages of student Obama's college thesis. Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on "obama thesis."

Supposedly titled "Aristocracy Revisited," the excerpt revealed the president had "doubts" about the "so-called founders." Juicy. Except not true. Limbaugh discovered halfway through his show that he'd been had, but defended himself by saying basically the thesis felt true. Listen in to Rush's mea sorta culpa.

Joe Klein finally jumped in, and called the report "nonsense" on his Swampland blog, and the blogger who thought the hoax was real also apologized.

Let's hope someone kept their sense of humor in all this. Still, for a humble post to go from humor blog to major media outlet sure seems impressive. Someone ought to write their thesis on it. For real.

It's not a surprise that Obama hates the constitution or that he would write thesis saying so. He's wasn't even born in this country.

You were not born in this country either!!! Here's one challenge for you and your ilk.....

Obama comments on the Constitution was taken out of context. Here's what Obama said, "If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement, and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples, so that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at a lunch counter and order, and as long as I could pay for it, I’d be OK."

Once again, Right talk radio hacks and political propagandist shill, took Presidents Obama's words out of context by not using them all, just picking and choosing the words that suit your agenda. Obama interviewed was on "The Courts and Civil Rights." If you find and listen to the entire interview you will realize he is lamenting the use of the courts rather than community involvement to obtain civil rights.

President Obama talked about the negative liberties of the constitution that in his opinion didn't go far enough in stating what the government must do, it only talks about what the government can't do. It is absolutely clear what his views were. The focus should be on Rush Limbaugh for reading a false thesis.

Rush has admited on countless occassions that he's only in it for the money. He could care less if it is true or not as long as it stirs up controversy with his name tag on it. He plays his listeners as saps every day.

RUSH: I'm also told that the blog containing the passage on Obama's thesis is a satire blog. So it's one of these sites like ScrappleFace or The Onion or some such thing. So I shout from the mountaintops: "It was satire!" But we know he thinks it. Good comedy, to be comedy, must contain an element of truth, and we know how he feels about distribution of wealth. He's mad at the courts for not going far enough on it. So we stand by the fabricated quote because we know Obama thinks it anyway. That's how it works in the media today.

Well...the bill of rights pretty much states what the government cant do. Logically speaking, anything that would challenge those rights would also not be allowed. The government's role is sharply defined, even limiting what government can raise taxes for. If you really think the founding fathers were pushing for a bloated government spending trillions we dont have to fund social entitlements, when they fought a war against the British due to taxes that were hardly as invasive as they are today, then you are high.

The founding fathers never trusted corporations either and never intended corporations to become as powerful and influential over our government as we see today. Also, you can't say how sharpely defined governments role should because the Founders made sure the constitution and the bill of rights were not etched in stone!!!

So I ask you, do we have a bloated government or do we have bloated influential corporate, wall street, big banks, and old family oliarchies using their power, money, and influence to make sure the Government placates to their wishes.

You can't Bitch-Moan and complain about a bloated gov't, while ignoring the daming negative influences of corporations, wall street, banks, have wrought on our country.

Rush should not have been in a rush on this one... and when he makes a mistake should man up.

Obama has said, as I have heard it (it was on NPR) that he believed that the constitition protected negitive rights and did not go into saying what the government was mandated to do. FDR proposed that there be a second bill of rights, that outlines what the governmnet has to do for folks, I personally think this is a slippery slope and designed to make the governmnet more of a caretaker of the people, rather than limited to protecting divine, inherited rights, it can never take away.
