Worst comedy actor of all time. Nothing but the same ole stupid laugh that sucked back in the day and sucked in EVERY single movie he over did it in. For real Eddie, that lame laugh had to go 2 decades ago.

So many good ones. For me, the best male cast member ever is Will Ferrell. He is still funny in many of his movies, even though he tends to play the same character in each one now, but his work on SNL is by far the best thing he has ever done. He was so versatile and laugh out loud funny, he often made the other cast members crack up during scenes. The best female cast member, for many of the same reasons as Ferrell, is Kristen Wiig. Insanely funny, and currently the hardest worker on the show because she is in so many skits. Judy Grimes, her "just kidding" travel consultant character, is pure genius.

So I voted Ferrell, but want to mention that if it was separated Kristen Wiig would easily get my vote.

Mine too. The younger generation doesn't realize the "shock" of such a show when it came out. Chevy doing his news about "killer weed" and if you find any send it to him. The "commercials" about speed and how it helps everyday life. Belushi's samarai, killer bees. After that group stopped SNL went down a notch and have not watched it since.

I agree. The original cast plus Murray aren't getting their due here because it was 30 years ago! (Ugh!)

On that same note, I haven't seen anyone mention Steve Martin yet. Walken is great, but the all-time best host has to be Steve.

SNL seems to cycle. But honestly how often can you see Chris Farley fall through something, and this extends to his movies as well; or Adam Sandler sing about his junk as opera man? And it seems SNL just keeps doing the same thing. New cast, same stupidity. Makes you appreciate Phil Hartman.

Gilda Radner. Versatile and funny. Bill Murray a close second. Belushi was a good actor, but he seemed to always play the same kind of character.

If you have a list made up of everyone starting from the late 80's / early 90's, you really should'nt be allowed to post.

Mike Myers by a mile

Mike Myers

Chris Farley
Adam Sandler
Will Ferrell
Tina Fey
Amy Poehler
Adam Samberg

yeah, if you are under 29. Early 80s and below had some of the best skits. Eddie Murphy stood out after the original went on to movies. In recent years, Will Ferrell and Dana Carvey were some of my favs.

Its because he is a stupid jew.

I cannot believe Belushi is getting so little love. Young crowd.

Hartman was great, but Belushi is king.
Edit: Nevermind i see Belushi IS winning the poll.

Nealon was my favorite person doing the news not named Phil Hartman though.

MacDonald was brilliant.

Farley had some OK skits, the best of which was the Chip and Dale skit with Swayze. Sandler sucked, Tina Fey sucks, pretty much everyone in this milennium has sucked big fat monkey balls.

The Farley shtick got old real quick. First time funny. Second time neh not as funny as you knew the punchline.

Another question. Who had the best movie? Animal House, Trading Places, Wayne's World. Outside of SNL. Or other you like. Not a movie but Eddie Murphy Delirious was the best.

There are virtually no Belushi SNL videos on Youtube.
This is great choice and I remember a version when Cocker walked on stage during the SNL sketch and sang with Belushi.

Absolutely classic!!

I thought that was the other way around.

Real close for me between Belushi and Akroyd, went with Akroyd. (SP?)

Are you talking about his SNL movies? Night at the Roxbury's was everything it could be...

I'm just talking about what they did while on SNL.

1. Best member of SNL was tough for me - Hartman was just awesome, but I loved him even better on the Simpsons, Troy McClure, You might remember me from such films as...kills me...Pretty much a three way for me: Hartman - Belushi - Gilda but Belushi and Hartman are probably are my faves while on the show (love Akroyd also)
2. Best films pretty much consistently come from Bill Murray but those are pretty much non SNL (Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, Rushmore, Stripes, etc) I love Bill Murray.
3. Best SNL films is tough because at lot of them are kind of stupid - off the top of my head Wayne's World
4. Best Host - going to say Steve Martin because he just makes me laugh, but I did enjoy the SNL episode with Peyton Manning, it was really funny though I don't know if best host would apply. And as much as I dislike this guy, the Dick in a box sketch was really funny, as was it's follow up, so I will give Justin a little prop.

How about a poll for the worst? My vote would be 'Anthony Michael Hall'

HArtman was awesome on teh Simpsons. Troy MCClure and that damn lawyer Lionel Hutz or whatever.

2. Best films pretty much consistently come from Bill Murray but those are pretty much non SNL (Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, Rushmore, Stripes, etc) I love Bill Murray.

You could argue Eddie Murphy made some great movies too but I think Eddie didn't really hit his stride until he cleaned up and started doing kids movies, particularly voice overs. Donkey in Shrek is one of my favorite movie characters. But I agree that Murray's movies post-SNL were the best of any cast member overall.

3. Best SNL films is tough because at lot of them are kind of stupid - off the top of my head Wayne's World

Gotta be. The only movie worth a ****.
