View Full Version : Next Great Epic Film!

There have been a lot of GOOD movies over the past two decades, but as far as great films that contain everything and paint a fantastic story from start to finish, epic movies like Gladiator and Braveheart can't be touched, in my opinion.

Ridley Scott (Gladiator director) and Russell Crowe team up again for...... Robin Hood

It's gonna be tough to top The Expendables. They're already lining up the Oscars for that one.

Yeah saw that. This was almost a month ago, but Ridley apparently claimed he would play both...

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Russell-Crowe-Is-Both-Nottingham-And-Robin-Hood-10342.html

We’ve known for months now that Russell Crowe would star in Ridley Scott’s new Robin Hood tale as the Sheriff of Nottingham, but there’s been no word so far on who might play Robin Hood, until now. Robin Hood is being played by Russell Crowe.

The word comes straight from the mouth of Ridley Scott, who told MTV that Russell Crowe will play both parts. He will be the Sheriff of Nottingham and he’ll play the Sheriff’s arch-enemy Robin Hood. I knew Ridley Scott liked Russell, after all he casts him in all of his movies, but this may be borderline actor obsession.

So how the heck will that work? Are the Sheriff and Robin twin brothers? Ridley wouldn’t say, his only hint was to suggest that the dual roles will be “a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes.”

Robin Hood: Kindly let me pass.
Little John: Uh, no. Sorry, but a toll is a toll, and a roll is a roll, and if we don't get no tolls, then we don't eat no rolls.
Little John: I made that up.
Robin Hood: It's very fascinating. But I'm afraid I'm going to have to hurt you.

Be pretty damn hard to top Mel Brooks' version of Robin Hood IMO. Men in Tights is a classic.

Awesome. Thanks for the link. I hope the author's prediction in the next paragraph of the article is true. That would be a very cool twist to the story.

The Expendables is an upcoming 2010 ensemble action film written and directed by Sylvester Stallone. Filming began on March 28, 2009 in Brazil, New Orleans, and Los Angeles and is expected to be released on August 20, 2010. The film pays tribute to the blockbuster action films during the 1980s and early '90s, as the film includes action veterans from those decades (such as Stallone himself, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis).

A team of the world's most dangerous and highly-trained mercenaries go on a mission to South America to overthrow and assassinate a powerful, evil dictator and his army, who have been causing devastation, chaos and torture for the last twenty years.

I'm a highlander fan as well, but have you watched it again lately?

I let my kids watch it a couple weeks ago, and they were into the plot, but the movie gets pretty laughable in parts. Can't beat the soundtrack, but the movie definitely doesn't age too well.

However, Braveheart still rocks.

nothing will approach "The Pacific". March 2010. it will tell the stories of 3 Marines from the 1st and 5th Marine Divisions during the war in the pacific.

http://www.hbo.com/events/pacific/index.html

it's the next HBO mini series from Spielberg and Hanks, following on their success with Band of Brothers.

Stupid movie. AWESOME 80's movie. There's a difference!

I had an idea for them to remake Red Dawn, but from the point of Iraqis or Afghanis nowadays. Jed's quote in the original when he's asked why they're fighting isn't for freedom, but "we live here". Thought that would be a neat take on it.

I don't have any illusions of this one being great, by any stretch, but Ellsworth (Red Eye, Disturbia, Last House on the Left) writing the screenplay doesn't hurt, and could bring something interesting to the table.
