Jeff Fisher just took off his jacket and he had on a Colts jersey and said, "I just wanted to feel like a winner!"

http://twitpic.com/m9cnn

Fisher was at Lipscombís Allen Arena to introduce former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy to those gathered for an engagement to benefit Rocketown. Fisher stepped to the podium in a suit and tie, then removed his coat, turned around and unbuttoned his shirt to reveal a blue and white No. 18 Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts jersey before introducing Dungy.

Norv Turner tried to get on the stage wearing his Denver alternate, but security clubbed him to the ground saying "this area is for NFL coaches only, sir!"

In all seriousness, props to Fisher for having a sense of humor.

Oh My Gosh! I think he should try to hide their 0-6 record. I mean no one is talking about it, now with this stunt, everyone knows they are winless and have no hope for the year. Are we so devoid of any sense of humor (even oh-fer gallows humor) that this is what gets Fisher fired?

The McNair murder seems to be hanging over the whole team. That and not Fisher's coaching is the problem.

I think it's funny as hell, but if I was a player in his 0-6 locker room (or the owner of the franchise), I might not share the same sense of humor that outsiders might see in this. It only makes it worse that they play in the same division as the Colts.

Absolutely

And I just see this as Fisher honoring his friend and calling him a winner. Yeah the Titans might be pissed, but the effort that team put on the field on Sunday, Fisher probably doesn't care.

A few hours after Jeff Fisher donned an Indianapolis Colts jersey at a fundraiser for Nashville’s Rocketown, the Titans coach apologized for it during his weekly radio show on Tuesday night.

Fisher appeared during the event at Lipscomb University along with former Colts coach Tony Dungy and country music star Martina McBride, among others.

As Fisher introduced Dungy, he removed his jacket and dress shirt to reveal a blue Peyton Manning jersey underneath. Fisher stepped back up to the microphone and said, “I just wanted to feel like a winner,” drawing laughter and applause from the crowd of about 2,500.

The Titans are 0–6, including a loss to the Colts (31–9) and last week's debacle against the Patriots (59–0).

Later, during his weekly radio show on 103.3-FM, Fisher apologized after a caller questioned him about wearing the jersey.

“It was for a very, very worthwhile cause, charity,” Fisher said. “I was introducing Tony, just having fun with it and I really apologize if I offended anybody, but if you’re offended over the nature of that type of thing, then I think you need to rethink things.

“This is a very worthwhile and needy benefit and I was honored to be there. … I’m sorry if I offended anybody but if I had to do it again, I would do it again.”

Fisher apologized again later when asked about the jersey during his weekly television show on WKRN-2.

Total slap in the face to his players. No matter how tongue & cheek it was meant to be...

I was thinkng Jeff was going to be in trouble a few weeks ago. With the McDaniels success and the coaches last year pumping life into tired franchises, along with the slow start the Titans had. But now @ 0-6 and pulling this stunt.

Jeff Fisher is toast after the season.

Fisher deserves better than what the Titans are giving him, I've always thought he was a good coach and classy guy. Him as Shanny's DC is a dream team! Just let them go to a team that never plays the Broncos.

I only ask b/c I suggested this could be to a friend a few weeks ago and they thought I was crazy. I think Fisher would find work again as a HC, but who knows. Part of that conversation was who I thought could/would be his OC as well. Gary Kubiak.

Oh and I have been trying to find out some info for you regarding your PM. I'm waiting on a return call but it doesn't look like anything much in that area, sorry dude.

Eh, I'm concerned to you replying about the "keywords" part of the PM.

As for Fisher being a HC... he's up against some stiff competition. Shanahan, Cowher, Holmgren, and whatever new crop of coordinators/assistants that hit the market.

As of right we're looking at these vacancies that are locks, imo:

Washington
Dallas
San Diego
Buffallo

With the potential for these:

St Louis already
Tennesse (for the premise of this discussion)
Carolina
Oakland

So, 4 vacancy locks, imo, and another potential 4 spots. That leaves 6 potential landing spots (definitely not Tenn, and would never work for Oak). Three coaches have better resumes, and a LOAD of coaches would work for less money and potentially bring more enthusiasm and newer ideas like we've seen with Josh.

This.

And as far as the idea of Shanny and the Chargers, why would Shanny do that for Norv? Which is what Fisher was doing for a retired coach who deserves some props. Geeze. It was funny. Now he should follow it up for Halloween dressed in Peyton Manning as a tackling dummy costume. Or show up as one his own DE's holding a bruised and beaten Peyton Manning tackling dummy.

My gosh people get their knickers in a twist over stupid crap. The only reason this is an issue is because his team is losing. If he was #1 in the division people would laugh it off.

Well, first off it was to honor Tony Dungy, not a current rival coach. Tony Dungy is considered an exceptional example of a human being in teh footbal world so..... get over it.

as for the shanny/fisher combo. might be better If Fisher is the HC and shanny just runs the O.

Fisher is a good coach and a good guy. But, as I said about Shanahan... things sometimes run their course and simply need to be refreshed. Looks like it's time for the Titans to move on, and both parties will likely be better for it, as we were in Denver.

I wouldn't either, but he's on the same level of hate from rival fans. There's a lot of people here that don't Manning. Put him in the division, and it would be the same hatred as for Rivers. I cant think of a recent example of a great AFC West QB. I guess it would be like if Red Miller wore a Kenny Stabler Raiders jersey.
