In the interest of positive thought, consider this:

Vesna Vulovic, a Serbian stewardess, was on a plane at 33,000 ft when a bomb went off. The plane was torn to pieces in mid air, and she fell to the ground without a parachute. She survived, paralyzed from the waist down.

Ha ha.

Actually I have meant some decent guys that are cops. This summer while in San Diego I made an effort to strike up a conversation with cops I ran into. I used to get a cup of coffee at a Starbucks that a lot of cops visited. I wanted to know how the recession was affecting the calls they were getting. Lots and lots of domestic violence calls they were telling me. Up like 300%. The cops were concerned about civil unrest too. What the had to say was all very interesting to me.

Stadium worker injured in pregame fall

By Chris Jenkins
Union-Tribune Staff Writer
3:08 p.m. October 19, 2009
SAN DIEGO – A member of the Chargers game-day staff fell approximately 20-25 feet from a box at Qualcomm Stadium's press level and was injured about three hours before Monday night's game between the Chargers and Denver Broncos.
The man, identified as Walt Daniels, was reported by emergency personnel to “have a pulse” after at least five minutes of CPR.
The injured man was putting together program packages for dispersal to the media when he somehow fell out of Booth 35C, landing on the seats below and settling on the concrete between the second and third rows of the Club Level.
While a member of the stadium security team performed CPR on his chest, medics apparently revived him and he was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.
A pool of blood was visible at the area where Michaels fell.
Chargers officials said the stadium gates would be opened 40 minutes later than normal, at 3:40 p.m. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:40.

Think Balboa was closer. I'm sure the paramedics know better than I do though.

If a hospital is better at something like hearts or head trauma like what may be the case here they will go there if it doesn't add too much time.

Sick cases from the airport go to 2 different hospitals. One is Denver Health downtown because they are good with trauma and emergencies. If someone falls and cracks their head they take them to St. Anthony's North as they are the best hospital for head wounds.

Stadium worker injured in pregame fall

By Chris Jenkins (http://www.orangemane.com/staff/chris-jenkins/)
Union-Tribune Staff Writer
3:08 p.m. October 19, 2009
SAN DIEGO – A member of the Chargers game-day staff fell approximately 20-25 feet from the visiting coaches' booth on Qualcomm Stadium's press level and was injured about three hours before Monday night's game between the Chargers and Denver Broncos.
The man, identified as Walt Daniels, was reported by emergency personnel to “have a pulse” after at least five minutes of CPR.
The injured man was putting together program packages for dispersal to the media when he somehow fell out of Booth 35C at 2:34 p.m., landing on the seats below and settling on the concrete between the second and third rows of the Club Level.
According to two members of the Broncos' radio broadcast team, Daniels "stumbled" down the stairs, pitched forward and rolled out of the booth. They said Daniels, who walks, desperately tried to right himself after the initial stumble but couldn't stop his fall.
While a member of the stadium security team performed CPR on his chest, medics apparently revived him and he was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.
A pool of blood was visible at the area where Daniels fell. He is believed to be in his 60s, said Maurice Luque, spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Chargers officials said the stadium gates would be opened 40 minutes later than normal, at 3:40 p.m. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:40.

Qualcomm worker dies as a result of stadium fall
Posted by Mike Florio on October 20, 2009 11:29 AM ET
The man who fell 25 feet prior to Monday's game between the Broncos and Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium has died, according to SanDiego6.com.

Walt Daniels fell from a press-level ledge while preparing for the game. CPR was performed at the scene, and he was then transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He later died at the hospital.

"He's been here for quite a number of years, probably maybe close to 25 or 30 years working in the press box on game days" Chargers spokesman Bill Johnston told San Diego 6 News."
