"I think you're supposed to do that as you cross the goal line"

Way to go, Dre. Hilarious!

The irony of Bly playing in San Francisco is that Nolan was recently ousted as the head coach, there. I think Bly would have done great in Nolan's system, but I still like the guys we have now...

Bly is a bonehead. First off, at the time of his interception, they were losing by 20+ points and he acts like? That's the kind of crap the Bronco defense would celebrate the last few years. Celebrating making tackles 10 yards down field that resulted in first downs too. Second, of course, you don't do that in the middle of the field. I don't miss him.

Perhaps it's just the fact that our defense is playing so much better as a whole and so whatever deficiencies Goodman brings to his position are being masked, but based on what I see (which seems at least to be the difference between a gambling CB and a steady one) I much prefer Goodman. I'll take steady over boom/bust.

Exactly ... Bly is a close friend of Champ, so I would've preferred him over the similarly-skilled Andre Goodman.

That said ... what Bly did there was beyond humiliating.

I saw a video on NFLN..he apologized for it and apologized on his own! Not many guys would have done that..props to Dre!!

Yeah, Leon Lett ... and him again in the Super Bowl, right?

Lett's screwup against the Dolphins in the snow (I'm thinking Thanksgiving 1991 or 92) was especially hilarious because it took the Cowboys from a W to an L in an instant.

I don't think they're all that similarly skilled.

Goodman is a more patient, consistent DB. Bly is and will always be a risk taker. He exposes himself in attempts to make big plays. Sometimes it pays off big, sometimes it doesn't. But we don't need that opposite Champ, we need a guy who keeps solid coverage to force QBs off that read and hopefully either they challenge Champ (who wins most of his gambles) or take a coverage sack.

Yes, it is the fact that Goodmans deficiencies have been masked by 1) having competent safeties on the field with him and 2) having a front 7 that executes decently and 3) having a coordinator who can call a game.

Goodman isnt close to as good as Bly is or was. Bly got a bad rap in Denver and Goodman gets treated with kid gloves because the fans havent realized how he is being exposed. Not only that, but the dude tackles and pursues like a girl.

Goodman is better than Bly. Bly isn't physical and Goodman is. Goodman doesn't freelance like Bly either. Bly has good ball skills and makes a nice number 2, but Bly couldn't play in this defense because it requires the corners to jam and force run plays towards the safeties. Bly didn't force a runner to do anything except maybe hurdle once.

Goodman physical? That's quite an interesting paradox.

Not as much of a paradox as your posts have been recently from a few months ago. I got two pages on your whiny ass I'm waiting to unload on everyone when we lock up the division.

A little sensitive there, dungeonmaster? Ha!

I'm sure that you can find more than two pages worth of my posts of derision based on the handling of the Cutler debacle and the subsequent handling of the draft.

You should also point out that I was the first person on this site to provide a thorough critical analysis of Cutler as well. You can find that here: http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showpost.php?p=2227221&postcount=68

That was a prophetic question from the thread:

How long will Jay last if he continues to cost the Broncos games?

Bly was short, had lost a step and took to many dumb chances, and couldn't tackle his mom in a phonebooth! I'll take Goodman any day, and Phons and Jack Mutha F Williams!

I want the Bears to lose games for the pick. After that, I honestly hope that Jay gets his act together and it looks like he has. I think he is similar to Orton actually, who notoriously also had a drinking problem and cleaned up his act.

Or like John, but he never really cleaned up. Good for him.
