When Pat took over the team in 1984, he immediately named Reeves (an extremely young coach) president of football operations (or something like that) and kept him as coach for the the next eight years. Reeves brought the Cowboys way to the Broncos. A way that was uber successful for nearly two decades. That molded the Broncos.

Then Bowlen realized Reeves was growing old (and most importantly, Elway hated him) and fired him. He brought in Wade Phillips, a nice fellow. Great coach, but too nice to be a great coach in the NFL. After two years, Bowlen realized his blunder and fired Phillips and hired the next hot shot young coordinator, Mike Shanahan.

Shanahan was young, cutting edge and brilliant. And most importantly, he brought the 49ers way with him. The 9ers were the most successful team over the the past 15 years and that came to Denver with Shanny. With the 9ers, he just set the record for points scored. Bowlen realized this, and knowing him previously, hired immediately. Bowlen stuck with the genius for 14 years, but his time had run up. Bowlen knew this.

It was time for the next hot-shot, brilliant coordinator, Josh Mcdaniels. Mcdaniels brought the Patriots way with him. The most successful team of the past decade.

Football, today and forever, will always be a coaches sport. Bowlen knows this. It is quite apparent.

Bowlen took this cowtown football team and made it one of the best in the NFL. The man is no fool. He knows when something is working and when something isn't. He knows loyalty is a huge component of acquiring the best coaching talent so he doesn't make rash decisions with coaches. He kept reeves for eight years, and shanny for fourteen.

If Bowlen is alive, Mcdaniels will be here for at least decade. But when he gets stale, get ready for another drunkless coward thread.

Whooo! Thank god for Bowlen. He is the true genius of the organization.

It's the scotch. When he switches brands he tends to have a mood swing... not sure what he's drinking now, but its some good stuff.
