The Obama administration has marked its first foray into the UN human rights establishment by backing calls for limits on freedom of expression. The newly-minted American policy was rolled out at the latest session of the UN Human Rights Council, which ended in Geneva on Friday.
damn shame. I guess that stupid 1st amendment is just so many words on an old piece of paper.

Wow yeah i can't believe obama would ever propose this.Gasp!from your article:
The new resolution, championed by the Obama administration, has a number of disturbing elements. It emphasizes that "the exercise of the right to freedom of expression carries with it special duties and responsibilities . . ." which include taking action against anything meeting the description of "negative racial and religious stereotyping." It also purports to "recognize . . . the moral and social responsibilities of the media" and supports "the media's elaboration of voluntary codes of professional ethical conduct" in relation to "combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance."

I really don't have a problem with it. It's all about freedom of expression in context. That context is Human Rights.
Lets not get overly excited about this as it's a world issue, not necessarily a US issue.

Ya, and who determines these kinda things?
Who enforces it?
The purpose of free speech is to let people speak their mind. I stand for free speech - which means I stand for you speaking your mind even when you are wrong, ignorant, or uninformed.
If someone is full of it, they are figured out for what they are. And for the media, people see whats what. They know which papers are full of crap, which are liberal, which are conservative.
Free speech with caveats isnt free speech. Esp when you are siding with the Theocracies in the Middle East.
