The one thing I hate in baseball is no salary cap... fix that and the sport has real excitement rather than the same teams buying their way through it every year.

That's what makes the Rockies special to have gotten to the postseason two out of the past three years.

We need to get a win tomorrow. Winning three in a row against them would be a tall order. I'm eager to see Cook pitch. Based on the way he pitched the other night, I'm hopeful that the injury might turn out to be a real positive. He should be pretty fresh, at this point.

Carlos Lee just wasn't going to be beat today.

The cold weather and lingering snow showers have put a temporary halt to Rocktober.

Major League Baseball announced this morning that tonight's Game 3 of the National League Division Series between the Rockies and the Phillies at Coors Field has been postponed. Game 3 has been rescheduled for Sunday at 8:07 p.m. (MDT).

Game 4 has been moved to Monday. The time for Game 4 will be announced prior to Sunday's game.

Those fans with tickets for Game 3 will now be able to use them only for Sunday's game. Those fans with tickets for Game 4 will be able to use them for Monday's game.

Game 5, if necessary, will still be played on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

I have always gotten the feeling that the NFL will do whatever it can to get me to watch NFL games. Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Thursday Night Football, Saturday and holiday games after College FB is done, etc. Games played in the daytime and at reasonable times of the evening.

I have always gotten the feeling that the MLB--for some reason unknown to me--wants to schedule its games at times that normal people simply cannot watch them. I am up right now only because I have a hearing tomorrow that I'm preparing for. It is pathetic that a postseason game in a major American sport NOT in overtime is still on at 2am Eastern Time.

Disagree.

Media, ESPN especially, blew it out of proportion. Just a couple snowflakes in Denver and Saturday night didn't bring anything really, only place in the front range that got bombarded with snow and had traffic troubles were the roads leading up to Cheyenne, WY.

We have the best record in the NL and we beat you guys in the regular season. I feel good about our chances since we have home advantage. Ok... lets get one thing straight.... We are the defending world champs so we are the team to beat....
Now that we are on the same page.... Our regular season meetings were so long ago that they barely matter... Both teams have changed immensly since we met last..
You honestly think Randy Wolf (no E) and Kershaw is a better 1,2 then Hamels and Lee? Hamels has been terrible this year but there isn't one baseball fan alive that would take Wolf over Hamels....
Lefty's/Righty's, it doesn't matter with the Phillies offense. This team just scores runs. I'm pretty confident when I say, the Phils could give up 5 runs a game and still beat the Dodgers... Your bullpen might be better but our starters are far superior. What good is a bullpen when you are bringing them in in the 5th down 5-0??
Oh yeah, Mr Stairs will be waiting when mr Broxton decides to enter.

The one flaw with your argument is that the Cards' top 3 starters are probably better than the Phils' and the Dodgers beat them. Baseball is a funny game that way. I don't doubt that the Phils can win it, I just think you're a bit overconfident.

Nothing wrong with overconfidence as a fan.... I'm not any more overconfident then Champ is.... Champ and I are just having a friendly disagreement. I like Champ... He's a good poster, just a lousey picker when it comes to Baseball teams... :D

One more point... the Cards dont have half the offense the Phils possess. Sure, Albert is great and Holliday is pretty good, but, past that, they have nothing

That's true. Dodgers haven't forgotten how things went down last year. We'll be ready.

You honestly think Randy Wolf (no E) and Kershaw is a better 1,2 then Hamels and Lee?

Wolf and Kershaw aren't better than Carpenter or Wainwright, but they did the job and the Dodgers beat two of the best pitchers in the NL back to back. Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels, who nosedived this year far as perfomance goes, isn't a big of a task to beat as the Cardinals. Dodgers have been pretty clutch this year with hitting and our young outfielders in Kemp and Ethier have been excellent in offensive output.

Phillies had the advantage. Got off to a 2-0 start at home. Might have been a different series if the Dodgers didn't piss away game 1.

I bet you wish you had Fuentes last night! Look at all the blown saves from this Division Playoff series and Fuentes gets 2 saves. He is not any of the "normal" closers but something about his delivery throws hitters off. I love the Angels chances against the Yanks. CC hasnt done anything against the Angels this year and I like his suckyness in the playoffs (even though he had a good game one vs Twins). A split at least is huge for the Angels. One thing I dont like is the 2-3-2 format. 2-2-1-1-1 is much more fair but these 4 teams are traveling cross country big time.

Found this interesting...

2. Can any team stop the power, especially from the left side, of the Phillies?
These Phillies are the second team in major league history to have three left-handed batters with 30-plus home runs: Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Raul Ibanez (the other team was the 1929 Phillies). This is where Sherrill and Kuo will be so important in the late innings, and where Game 1 starter Randy Wolf, a former Phillie, will be so important for at least two starts. Wolf had, by far, the best OPS (.417) against left-handed batters in the major leagues this year (Oakland reliever Andrew Bailey was next at .470). Clayton Kershaw, who likely will start Game 2, had the third-best OPS against left-handers at .489. If the Dodgers can throw the left-handers in the first two games at big Dodger Stadium, then have more of the sinkerball types (led by Vicente Padilla) for smaller Citizens Bank Park, they might be able to handle the Phillies' lineup. Howard went 3-for-28 with 11 strikeouts against the Dodgers this year, and Utley and Jimmy Rollins hit under. 200. But when those three big left-handed hitters are swinging well, to go with Jayson Werth, no staff will be able to stop them.

Your Game one pitcher just sucked eggs and this is what you bring? You might have more worries than the above mentioned. If there is a 5th game, Kershaw is pitching in Philly. He better suck it up and stop acting like the scared 21 year old. Torre gave him the confidence to keep him out there to get the last out and he sheated on him. Managing in the NL is a lot tougher than the AL, but with the pitchers spot ready to bat 2nd in the next 1/2 inning, he has enough pitchers to pitch just to Howard. I know he didnt want to waste Sherrill in that spot, but go with a fresh righty if no other lefty is available. Of course if Torre didnt like anyone but Kershaw to face Howard, then you stay with him but dude was spent.

Not something to be proud of... Hamels sucked all year. he's too worried about hurting his little arm if he doesnt have enough rest. And, you really didnt get to him... All 4 runs were earned because you can't assume a double play ball, but, you know as well as I do, he gets through 5 up 5-1 if JRoll gets that ball outta his glove,... All 4 runs were earned because you can't assume a double play ball, but, you know as well as I do, he gets through 5 up 5-1 if JRoll gets that ball outta his glove,... Funny, all I heard was how bad the Phils BP was and how great LA's was.... well, after game 1... Dodgers Pen yields 3 runs.... Phils, 2 runs...
On to Pedro and Padilla in game 2, should be more of the same!!!!

lol sure man, LA hasn't touched him at all this year or last year.

To be fair Hamels did great up until the 5-6th inning. Same with Kershaw until the 5th inning rolled around. Then it was like the strike zone shriveled up and the pitchers couldn't make their pitches.

Agreed... I think kershaws inexperience kicked in too tho... Thats a tough stage for a 21 year old... Hamels was done in by JRoll not getting the ball outta his glove. If he makes the tranfer cleanly, its a 5-1 game going to the 6. Instead, Hamels did what he did all year... Instead of getting the next out and going to the 6th up 5-2, he lays a fat changeup right down broadway and Manny makes him pay.

Kershaw has more potential than your worthless pile of crap rotation combined. So STFU lame Angel fan. Gonna be funny watching the Yankees destroy your pitching. :giggle:

Is the giggle icon meaning that you are just full of sheat and are playing with me? Please explain the Angels "crap rotation". Since Lackey is only around 30, he still has upside and is a great pitcher. Joe Saunders, the guy who went 6 and 0 with an era under 3.20 when he came off the disabled list doesnt have upside as a 3rd year pitcher? That is 6 wins which is 6 more than Kershaw could do in the last 3 months. Kazmir? Kershaw is younger but Kazmir has done very well since end of August and is with us another year. Maybe you meant crap when you talked about 19 game winner Weaver. Not Jeff, the one who isnt even on your roster for this series, but Jared Weaver as in the young hurler who will be with the Angels for years to come. I will give you Santana but not nearly as crap but he can have those moments and stretches. Plus, he is in the bullpen this series. So next time your team loses and you want to vent, make sure you have facts straight. You can love Kershaw and his upside but I would take this starting lineup over the Dodgers in a heart beat. BTW, we outscored the Yanks this year by a mile.

not a very good fielding effort by the Angels, nor any consecutive hitting. Errors and mental errors helped bury the Angels. Good news is that they never win the first game vs the Yanks and the series is a 7 gamer. So glad I live in OC as that weather in NY sucks balls.

Throw it to effing first base you idiot!

No kidding. He wasnt going to get a double play so get the sure out and it will be still one guy in scoring position with 2 outs. I believe Figgins easily throws Hairston Jr. out at home if he gets the ball cleanly. So many stupid things happening in that game. I am so done with Vlady. Sure he helped win Game 3 in Boston but he has no plate discipline and those crappy breaking balls he used to hit 1 inch off the ground is now the 3rd strike. I am also pissed at Mathis for asking a hi and outside pitch to A Rod. Two strikes, no balls and he gives him a pitch that he would like in most circumstances. Jam him inside or give hime a breaking ball low and waste one if he doesnt swing. Fuentes had that breaker working nicely at the other batters. Bad catching set up by Jeff. At least both teams get out of that crap and get to some nice OC weather. I will miss the first game because THE BRONCOS ARE PLAYING IN SAN DIEGO, but I will be there regardless on Tuesday and hopefully on Thursday. Ugh! Good time to play completely different type of baseball!

K... After a weekend of 2 consecutive weddings, props to LA for finishing off the Phillies after Charlie Manuel choked the win away... Dodgers did a great job of putting pressure on us though.
How can Charlie look at himself in the mirror and not punch what he sees? Pedro was killing the Dodgers. He had thrown 87 pitches through 7 and the Dodgers hadn't had one good swing on him. Charlie... stop overcoaching.... Managers RARELY win a team a game, but they definately can cost their team a win.
And when did Chase Utley change his name to Chase Knoblauch?
It's Noon on Sunday and its very grey, very windy, and down right chilly here today... 8:07 should be alot colder... Lets see how the 80 degree boys fair in this weather...
GO PHILLIES

well, that was different from your normal post of Dodgers suck. Yes, they looked pathetic but I would rather have champ24 (and his childish ways of describing his hate for his rivals) tell us then someone who supposedly is a Dodger fan to only bring the hate. Madsen strikes some bum out, the replay shows it strictly in the strike zone, and the crap announcer excuses it 'they haven't been calling that a strike all night'. Doesn't matter to that moron that it was clearly a strike. Madsen makes the bum ground out to short anyway. Good riddance to the duhdgers.

Enjoy the offseason, you're done.

I don't want to jinx it but the Phillies are better than the Yankees at every position except 3rd, DH and Closer.
This Dodgers series was the same. All I heard was the Dodgers Bullpen was sooo much better then the Phillies. I asked then, and I ask now, what good is the better bullpen when you're down by 6 runs in the 5th? BTW, The Phils Pen outpitched the Dodgers pen by a mile.

Everyone will pick the Yanks in 5 or 6, just like everyone picked the Rockies in 4 or 5 and the Dodgers in 5 or 6... I love the total disrespect for the Phightin Phils... oppps, DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPION PHIGHTIN PHILS!!!
