In 2008 we were 3rd in the NFL converting at 48% of our attempts

In 2009--we are 17th @ 37%

We ran Bate's version of the NE spread offense in 2008---We have improved our receiving corp with Gaffney and Lloyd as our 4th and 5th receivers--we have improved our stable of RB's with Buck, Moreno and Jordan--our stellar OL has stayed together---so what is the VARIABLE that has changed?

I still like our team better now. We turned over most of our coaching staff and almost 50% of our roster. still feels like growing pains to me.

and the lack of turnovers from Orton seems to make up for the loss in percentage.

Obviously McD can't run his Offense as well as Bates can.

I love our TEAM--I just don't think that Orton is a starting caliber QB..I'd welcome him as a #2.......

I am almost curious what is going to come spewing out when we finally lose a game.

What will come 'spewing out' is that the SIGNS ARE THERE--our offense is not holding up it's end of the bargain............our defense will wear down and will eventually surrender 20 points............I have no faith in Orton to lead us consistently to 20+ points against teams that are not ranked in the bottom third of the NFL (OAK is 21st, CLE is 31st)--he is far too BELOW average on third down to sustain drives.......

So Broncofan7 what do you suggest coach does? Bench him when he's 4-0? for Simms? Brandstater?

Were you the one saying you would start Brandstater in the the cincy game?

The offense isn't as good as it was last yr as far as scoring or moving the ball.

But tell me this how many points, how many yrds do you subtract from on offense when it turns the ball over.

Go back to last yr and research that.

Cutler is gone, there is no way to get him back. Just be glad we are winning some games. Right now Orton is the best option, gives us best chance to win. That's all you can say about that.

Maybe it's only me...but did anyone else notice that last season, our record vs. teams that fared worse than us in 3rd down conversion % was 7-8...and we were 1-0 against the Saints who converted the same as we did?

Oh, and he also conveniently left out that we're 23rd in 3rd downs faced this season...which means we're not having to convert on 3rd down as much as other teams. In other words we hardly ever see 3rd down....and since we know our QB isn't throwing INT's it must mean we're doing a better job off picking up first downs after the first two plays of a set of downs.

The QB has been EXPOSED..........

Yep, you've shown us the way.

We all get it. He's not one of the top QB's in the league and probably never will be.

If we had Drew Brees we'd be a Superbowl contender and so would half of the teams in the NFL.

Too bad Jay Cutler was not that guy. Here's hoping we find that guy in the future.

In the mean-time, Kyle is doing everything the coach is asking and as a Broncos fan I am willing to accept that rather than bitch and moan like a whiny little girl after every win.

97.7 QB rating, 5 TD, 0 INT, 60% completions and getting better weekly.
