View Full Version : CU Buffs look like crap
Is that coach (Hawkins) on the hot seat yet? His son can't QB for beans. The defense got like 3 TO's against WV in like 1 quarter and they couldn't do jack. Man, when is this UNIV going to get this team competitive again?

this is all factually correct

I actually think Hawkins might be a good coach once his son leaves and nepotism leaves with him.
He doesnt have any other younger sons though does he?

I agree with the OP and Gayhawk. I think Hawk will be alright and get this team to where it needs to be. I think he has lost out on a few recruits b/c of Cody and that will obviously change after this year.
Alfred Williams was talking about this a few weeks ago. CU couldn't afford to get rid of Hawkins at this point. He would get a huge buy-out and then they would have to pay pretty good money to a new coach as well. Something that isn't likely to happen according to the source on air. I don't mind Hawkins but how sweet would it be to see a guy like Jeremy Bates return to the area as the HC of the CU Buffs?

I'd take just about anybody over Hawkins. Not only does he suck, but he looks like he doesn't have a clue what the hell he's doing.

Mike Bohn has put his feelers out regarding Head Coaches ... I doubt heīd be doing if he knew he couldnīt buy out Hawkins.

He'll never make it through his sons college career...He could have gone out and got a good passing qb for his system, but his dream of turning his son into a NFL qb bit him in the a$$

Well, he did help turn Boise St. into a top 20 program which is quite an accomplishment, so I'm surprised how much trouble he's had at CU. Seemed to me like a perfect hire at the time, a youngish guy who built a "mid-major" into a pretty damn good program. I don't follow college football close enough to understand what's gone wrong for him at CU but again I'm surprised that it hasn't gone better.

Jens is right, the buyout isn't the issue. Even if the amount was an issue, at some point they couldn't afford not to buy him out b/c of lost revenue from tickets and everything else.
The guy's in his 4th year. He's had the time to implement his system, and that system can't get it done with the personnel he's put in there (Cody and walk-ons at WR over actual recruits). They run the same plays over and over again, and Coach Talk has the same bewildered look on his face after the same play hasn't worked for the 10th time this season. They haven't developed what talent they do have and all the bluster about how strong the team is vs. what Barnett left them, they're still soft as hell. Half his staff is still guys he brought from Boise, 2 that I can think of off the top of my head can't recruit and their units suck. There is no reason for guys like that to be at any BCS conference school if they can't recruit and they can't coach.

Is CU still under the recruiting restrictions?
I don't remember what they were exactly but I seem to recall a curfew when recruits come to visit and no alcohol.
Does anybody know if they did in fact have these restrictions and if they still do?

Clearly Hawkins and his staff were doing something right at Boise St. And in theory it should be much easier to bring talent to Boulder than to Boise. So what happened? There has to be some clear reasons those more in the know are aware of.

They lost a few scholarships but that has since passed. CU can buy out Coach Talk they have plenty of boosters with deep pockets.

Chris Peterson was the brain in Boise and this coaching staff doesnīt play the few talented players it has recruited.

Agree, you hear about what a great recruiting class we had two years ago and those guy barely see the field. Against CSU, you didn't even really see Stewart, or Scott...and our wr's are pure shiat!! Then we go and redshirt Hansen why?? Unless I missed something, that was a dumbA$$ move to get the heat off Cody! For these reasons Danny Boy must go. I really believe the worst thing that he could have done was bring in Cody.:unamused:
