What a DREADFUL week last week for my picks-here goes NOTHING:

5 star PICK:

New Orleans (-7) to cover @ home over the NYJ--I think that NE was not firing on all cylinders and TN shot themselves in the foot last week with 4-5 turnovers--the Jets won't be so lucky this week..Saints BIG over the Jets

4 star special:

TX Tech (-34) to cover at home VS New Mexico--after TWO TOUGH losses on the road--Mike Leach comes out firing and the Red Raiders hang 60+ on New Mexico who are 0-4 and giving up 35 pts/game

3 star special

MINN/GB to go over 45--I like both team's ability to score in this game (GB via the pass--MIN more balanced)--that is played in a DOME

2 star special
Miami (+7.5) to cover at home VS. OU--I like the Miami home field advantage and the fact that they have been tested in more games than OU (BYU)--plus Bradford isn't playing--gimme the U and the points

Upset special:

SMU (+28) to cover @ TCU--being a TCU alum (undergrad) it pains me to type this--but I think that their offense is too limited and June Jone's SMU offense will score enough to keep this within 14 points

I agree with the NO over Jets pick. Magic carpet ride is over.

Tx tech giving 34....Iffie...again too many points to make it a lock. How many teams that have been 30+ favorites have covered this year?

Minn Gb on the over..good
Miami at home ...good
Same for SMU /TCU

I don't think New Orleans covers.....the jets had a good defense before Ryan showed up.

honestly, I can't beleive the spread is that large

All I can say is you are due..haha

LOL--you are telling ME! I actually won some money in a progressive parlay last week by using some of the suggestions from other posters in last week's thread and combining it with my own picks--last year--I RODE USC to a boatload of $$$--this year--I just have not felt comfortable on any particular game--but the TX Tech-NM tilt--I sort of have that feeling again--Tech has played GREAT in losing tough games @ UT and Houston--and now are coming home to play a team that is 0-4, gives up 35.5pts/game and scores in the teens--I like Tech to win around 63-14...so I put a little more $$ on that game in a straight wager---I mostly do $5 and $10 parlays if I don't feel strong about a game

Yeah, I know they're legit, I just can't believe they are that low.

Cinn-9.5 and NYG -13 is what I was expecting before the lines came out.

Gotta love road favorites, you get that sweet "home field advantage" to drive it lower.

Broncofan7, I'm wondering if those picks you "borrowed" last week were mine. Then again, I don't remember if I posted them or not but I won on 3 separate parlays, one being a 5-team.

It was a good week.

P.S. Thank you Jay Cutler and Carson Palmer.

oh, my picks this week:

NYG -8.5
Cin -6
Buff -1
Bal +2
SD +6.5
NO -7, and the over
Ten -3
SF -9.5

act now, thank me later

I would have agreed with you until I saw this:

That, coupled with the fact that New Orleans is at home tells me the Jets are going to have some problems in coverage. But hey, it's all about what you are willing to put your money on.. i know where mine is.

Youre gonna like that Tx Tech play. My Lobos are a joke! Worst UNM team I have seen in my lifetime. They just lost to their in state rival, at home for the first time in years. Both NM schools would, honest to God, lose to quality 5A h.s. teams. The Lobos will lose by 50 tonight.

Also, our brilliant new coach made national news for going all Tom Cable on his asst coach. I hate our program so much. We shouldn't qualify as D-1.

I don't follow college football too closely here in NM, and am certainly not a Lobo fan, but yeah this whole season has been a cluster**** for them.

Locksley slugging his assistant coach is the icing on the cake.

So what is the safe means to sports gamble? If it's illegal here but still happens somehow, it doesn't comfort me much to have to give up my credit card info.

Here's two sites I can personally vouche for:

wsex.com (world sports exchange, not a porn site)
bodog.com

I totally hear you on the CC thing, but all I can say is I took the plunge and everything has been above board.

My friends also use wsex.com, if that helps any. They even have the site up on their laptops at the bar during the games on Sunday.

everything lined up,2 websites that i subscribe too had this as a strong play--didn't count of their starting QB going out--NEW MEX played WELL ABOVE what they ahd been all season--giving up 36/gam and scoring about 10 with the least time of posssession in the entire country (around 21mins/game)--all signs pointed to a HUGE day for Tech--but Potts went out

I had a rough 1-2 record last week but this week I am taking.

Tenn -3
Hou/oakland under 42.5
Buffalo +1

I usually never do gimmick bets such as teasers/pleasers/parlays but I did a 3 team 10 pt teaser and have

Indy and Chicago straight up and Houston +1.5

Do you always take the pts?

Do you always take the pts?

Little sisters of the poor against Notre Dame...No. Frankly I don't bet
at all, especially on college games. I do like to watch the lines though.

College ball is too schicsophrenic. Teams are up one week and down the next. COUNTING on a team to beat another by more than 30 points if they are both major college programs is not good sense (IMO).

First any major program dissed by over 35 points is going to get their back up
at the insult.
Second, there is no incentive to pile points on once you have a 28 plus point lead. Of course it happens , even often. But relying on it is what I'm saying.
Sure some services will feed you info as to WHY it could , maybe even should occur. They want your money, and try to be accurate to get it.

But just because a team CAN trounce someone, doens't mean it will happen reliably. There are people involved, on both sides. Once you build a substantial lead the tendency is always going to be to let off.

Good luck to all of you that bet on the games. Remember that the lines are set to try to even the bets out....if too many come down on one side you end up with lines like +30 points.
