he's my favorite bronco and he's mr. consistent so why the bad day?

Goal line, if your not gonna do the superman, you have to keep the legs churning, absolutely have to, almost as important is the fullback keeping his legs moving...... neither did, lucky we have a coach that will correct this

anyone else notice this?

I think he got a cuncussion in the raider game....he hasn't practiced this week

to me it looked like he bobbled both handoffs on his two plays in the 1st quarter

I still think he'll wind up a big weapon for us, but right now... the things he does are basically being done by others. I love the guy, but again... pure rumor was that he may have had a little trouble picking up the offense. So, we might have to be patient.

Either way, we're getting the production, overall. Hopefully... Hillis can contribute on a bigger level. I think he's one of the more physically talented players we have.

Bmarsh and Royal have also struggled with this offense as well. They'll get it eventually

Ya, I am sure the coaches looked at the goal line struggles last game and went over it with Hillis and the rest of the offense. They will get better.

I really hope Royal gets it all figured out. He and Marshall need each other to be really successful imo

Hillis has looked pretty bad any time he's been out there this year, IMO.

Sure he hasn't gotten many reps, but you have to make the most of what limited chances you do get if you want more.

Hope he turns it around, the guy can play when he's on form and seems a likeable guy as well.

Hillis will be fine. he isn't getting a lot of reps and only has had like 4 opportunities holding the ball. plus in this scheme where the FB isn't used a lot, it is going to take a little time for McDaniels to figure out packages and ways to get him the ball. plus if the rumors are true about him having a rough time learning the new system it is going to be a little while before we see him being used much.

the man has to learn receiver, RB, FB and TE positions, give him a break!

It's getting close to the time when you start to wonder what bad thing he's going to do when he comes into the game. He's been making too many mistakes.

I don't like Hillis around the goaline. IMO he's to slow to the LOS and by that time defense has penetrated. He is unable to make quick moves to slice through cracks.

I want to see Moreno get more goaline carries.

I don't understand all the hype around him.

The guy is an excellent football player. He's been actually pretty bad this year but he's not the only offensive player that has struggled with the new system. Give him some time.

Id bet money Peyton Hillis isn't on the team next year.

Hate to say it, but i agree with you. Love the guy but I don't think the coaching staff loves him and he's not doing much so far (I know I know, give him time) to change their minds.

You will all change your minds when the rest of the backs are damaged up for the season and Hillis is running the rock to end the season.

Why would you think that? I love me some Hillis but the dude has pretty much sucked balls this year and played his way out of a job.

He had a good run on the goaline vs. cleavland. I agree though, i to would like to see Moreno get a few carries on the goaline!

I like Hillis, but more for blocking and then pounding defenses when we have a lead. Also a few throws to him out of backfield a game seems like its a good idea.

I don't think he has a great nose for the endozone though.

I recall last year that Hillis didn't play much at the start because he was making a lot of mistakes and wasn't up to speed. Paraphrasing his own words if I remember the article correctly.

Seems reasonable that the situation is probably the same again this year with an even more complex offense.

I'm sure he'll get it eventually. He plays too hard to not let him have his chances.

Found a good article on Hillis. McDaniels sounds like he still supports him. I hope he gets it together... He definitely hasn't made the most of his (limited) opportunities, which is kind of the opposite of how things went last year. He really could add another dimension to our offense...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-broncos-shortyardage&prov=ap&type=lgns

An excerpt:
“We still have a lot of confidence in Peyton Hillis,” McDaniels said. “We’re going to have a lot of confidence in Peyton Hillis. But all of our backs take reps on goal-line. That’s not uncommon.”

Hillis said it’s critical for the short-yardage specialist to finish the drives the offensive unit starts.

“You kind of put the whole team on your shoulders at that point,” he said. “They drive the ball way down to the goal line, and, you don’t want to create undue pressure per se, but you know you have to get it in.”

In all fairness Orton looked pretty bad and inconsistent learning and executing McD's new offense. We all recall Orton throwing interceptions in training camp and various times during the pre-season. Although Orton has taken care of the ball during the regular season, he has also been inconsistent and inaccurate with his throws.

However, the only difference btwn Orton's miscues, mistakes, and errors and Hillis are that McD didn't give up on Hillis and was patient with him to work out the Kinks. Whereas McD had Hillis on a shorter leash. Hillis like Moreno, Bmarsh, Royal and Orton are all still learing the offense and getting to know and become familiar with each other as well.

I for one can't make that call on Hillis due to the limited opportunities he has gotten thus far. Had Hillis been given lets say he same opportunites that Moreno has had I think then we could all come away with a much better assessment.
