After breaking down film of both teams, Scouts Inc. offers 10 things to watch in this week's Cowboys-Broncos matchup.

1. Dallas must be physical in the trenches: The Broncos have run the ball well, averaging more than 157 yards per game, and the Cowboys' front seven needs to make Denver's offense one-dimensional. When the Cowboys get in the red zone, they need to be physical with a power zone ground attack to score touchdowns.

2. Expect Dallas to put eight in the box: The Cowboys have been a bit inconsistent at defending the run, yielding more than 114 yards per game at 4.7 yards per carry. The Broncos' running game is much improved with rookie Knowshon Moreno carrying the load. Look for Dallas coach Wade Phillips to design a game plan that will include more interior stunts and eight-man fronts in this matchup.

3. Dallas must create turnovers: The Broncos have turned the ball over only twice so far, which is a big reason for their success. The Cowboys will need to create turnovers to get the win on the road. Look for Phillips to dial up more zone blitzes and pressure packages to take the crowd out of the game.

4. Look for the Dallas coverage defenders to get physical: The Broncos' air attack has been very efficient. Look for Cowboys cornerbacks to play more jam and press man techniques to reroute and disrupt the Denver passing game.

5. Matchup to watch -- Dallas TE Jason Witten vs. Denver LB D.J. Williams: Cowboys QB Tony Romo clearly looks to Witten when he wants to move the chains, and this should be a great battle between two excellent players who are performing at a high level. Williams will likely draw the task of covering Witten in passing situations and will need to stay in his hip pocket to be effective. Witten is an outstanding route-runner who knows how to utilize his quickness out of his breaks as well as his body to get separation.

6. Denver needs to stop the run: Even though the Cowboys' backfield is banged up, their running attack is still a concern for Denver. Dallas utilized more misdirection and lead draws in Week 3; its offensive line must keep its fits and gap control responsibilities.

7. Broncos must stay in rush lanes: Romo is best when improvising, and the Denver defenders need to be disciplined when rushing the passer. Not letting Romo step up or slide in the pocket will be a key for the Broncos as they try to stop Dallas' passing attack.

8. Broncos must stay balanced: The Broncos have done a nice job of staying balanced with their offensive game plan. It will be important for them to stay out of long-yardage situations. Look for them to use high-percentage early down passes as well as a variety of downhill and perimeter running plays.

9. Protecting Kyle Orton is key: The Cowboys haven't had much success rushing the passer early in the season, but they have excellent personnel to put pressure on Orton. The Broncos have yielded only three sacks so far and will need to continue to keep this aggressive Dallas defense at bay with tight splits, slide protection or an extra man in to block in passing situations.

10. Matchup to watch -- Denver OLB Elvis Dumervil vs. Dallas OT Flozell Adams: Dumervil is a short, athletic player who is making an excellent transition to the 3-4 OLB position. Adams is a massive left tackle who has been inconsistent at blocking great edge quickness and speed. The winner of this battle will give his team a distinct advantage.

DJ doesnt cover the TE.

He hates doing that. We would probably drop him in zone before we put him on the TE.

I could see woody, or a S or even champ (my choice) to take out witten. Obviously, we have no clue what nolan or Mcd will do. But i dont like DJ on the TE.

11. Matchup to watch -- Denver OLB Elvis Dumervil vs. Dallas OT Flozell Adams. Scouts INC. recommends that Dallas activate a 4th QB for the game.

Maybe someone who knows how, and isn't lazy, should start a poll on what Flozell will do to get fined this week?

If Flozell struggles with speed rushers, then his cup will runneth over when Dumervil comes his way...and if he can force one or two bad passes into INT's, well i like our chances to beat them at home.

Run the ball effectively, win the turnover battle, throw because you want to, not because you have to, and don't give up any big plays, and you'll win alot of games.

thats how they play they run the ball and beat you with the big play and Williams is who they are targeting as of late but watchout for Crayton they lull teams to sleep with the run and then BAM they throw it deep thats about it same stuff every week

I think this was written before Felix Jones was ruled out.

Yep. Denver's run game is clearly superior heading into this weekend.

And though the Broncos dont have big names up front, their DL has been superior through three weeks. So have the linebackers thus far

The Denver OL is better as well.

I would give the Cowboys an advantage at QB, DL, and LB. Thats it.

None of these scouts have taken the Broncos seriously. If all they can do is look at the roster and say "I've heard of that guy and that guy"...then they arent doing much more than your average fan.

Also...

These "scouts" missed what is the most obvious matchup to watch this week: Ryan Clady vs. Demarcus Ware.

"4. Look for the Dallas coverage defenders to get physical: The Broncos' air attack has been very efficient. Look for Cowboys cornerbacks to play more jam and press man techniques to reroute and disrupt the Denver passing game."

With Denver getting the nod as having an advantage in the WR position this is the best they can do to justify the Denver advantage?

Granted the Denver passing game has been slow to get out of the blocks but the likes of Royal, Scheffler, Graham, Gaffney, Marshall and Stokely (when healthy) are better then good and reliable targets for Orton. I look for Denver's passing game to come out of its shell in this game (optimism is a good thing).

4 weeks in, the offense should be becoming clearer at this point to Orton and some of the other guys. The Broncos are primed to pick the Cowboys apart, who are severely overrated in the secondary.

If they load up the box to play the run, the Denver short passing game will result in long plays all day.

My main key - which QB protects the ball.

I know Delhomme was the guy that threw picks the other night, but there were about three passes Romo chucked up that I figured our DB's would pull down.

Romo is the same kind of risk taker that Cutler is, feast and famine. I hope he chucks a few up there for our D-backs.

It will be a tough game, and we might give up moire than the 16 we have given up all season, but if we don't turn it over, I think we can win.

Denver 24 (1 defensive TD)
Dallas 17

Broncos wont man up on witten. They will bracket him with a linebacker and a safety just like we did Zach Miller.

I imagine on some early down you might see some man to man, but on 3rd downs I see an over under type zone being played on him.

Broncos would rather let Roy Williams go 1-1 with a CB, then Witten 1-1 with a linebacker.

One of those was Special Teams, the Offense has only turned it over once. And the D took it right back on a FF.

****ing Sunday cant get here soon enough.

Im so tired of these "exceptions for the Broncos" from the god damn media.

Facts are facts. Denver held Cincy scoreless for 59 and a half minutes. The same Cincy team that lit up GB in GB and took down Pittsburgh. They held Jamal Lewis to 2.7 ypc when Minnesota gave up 5.7 or something to the same RB.

They shut down Cedric Benson except for one 20 yard run to less than 80 yards in teh game when in the next game against GB he went for 141.

Meanwhile, Dallas struggled with a "in the mix for the first pick in 2010" Bucs team, barely scraped by a very poor Carolina team and couldn't help themselves beat a Giants team that has historically struggled in Dallas.

Give me a ****ing break. Denver owns this god damn game and its not going to be close, again.

I have to agree...we've basically dominated in our wins both offensively and defensively minus the cinci game! They've played pretty sloppy/didn't look that great in their two wins. I see us winning by at least 10 honestly!

Do the clowns at scout Inc. watch the games? I've seen Dallas play every game this year and their pass protection is very spotty. Flozell adams blows. Also, why would they give the coaching advantage to Dallas when they play anybody? Wade Phillips is perhaps the most worthless coach in the league.

pretty generic ............all that is missing is the team that scores more wins ......
Naw Look for alot of formation matchups , example twin wr , Isolating the TE on the safety..though I wouldnt be shocked to see both teams come out with 3 step drops ....I wonder if we will see motion from Dallas with Witten trying to match him up on DJ Williams .........As for denver , I would like to see more of Hillis .Specially in the red zone .... I expect Newman to be on Marshall like a cheap suit , the trick will be getting off the line clean , Royal can do it , not to sure about Marshall .........But then predicting McD game plan week to week is like predicting the stock market ..
this game wont be close ,Romo doesnt have it to work the field for 60 minutes , Orton does .......... 60 minutes of football all 3 phases ........ win ugly is still a win

I'm not so sure I would load up the box to try and stop Denver's run game. I think I would try to do it straight up first. You start bringing those safeties in and that's when the Broncos start hitting all those quick WR screens on ya. And with no Safety help, if a CB or OLB miss a tackle or get blocked, it can turn into a very long play.

IT all comes down to Orton and our Rush Defense this week. If we can make Dallas one dimensional on offense--I like our chances of frustrating Romo --they really do not have any explosive & consistent playmakers with Felix Jones out (Miles Austin is very fast--but not consistent)--Romo will throw 3-4 balls to our DB's & LB's --we just need to be ready for them---Offensively, I fully expect Dallas to put 8-9 in the box--which means if we struggle early in our running game from our base sets--McD will spread them out with 3 wides, Scheff and 1 RB--and we could have some success from that foprmation--Dallas's LB's are GOD AWFUL IN PASS COVERAGE--we should use Scheff early and often to exploit this--their secondary cannot handle Marshall, Tnew doesn't like to play against physical receivers (Plax used to eat him up) and if they do try to match Marshall against TNew--Royal should be primed to abuse Scandrick or Mike Jenkins--even Gaffney and stokely should have success against their average CB's--it all comes down to Orton being able to deliver the ball accurately--I do not forsee our O-line having too many problems with their pass rush--so he should have time to throw..........Den 27-DAL 23

Personally i'd like to see Marshall in the slot more he could make some big plays in there against safeties or smaller corners and then Dullass would have to asign one of their best corners to the inside freeing up a lesser corner to the outside to be had by Gaffney or Royal
