You can only play who is put in front of you.
Our D is playing lights out, our O is playing smart. And running well.

And Weapon X is awesome.

We won the games that we should have won so far. Now we can steal some games in the hard part of schedule. I am happy with the coaching and the way the team is playing. Players are starting to understand their roles, that is the key to building a team.

Beating the teams you should beat really is huge (see last year with KC and Buffalo). We may finish sub .500 during the tougher stretch, but if we can play smart offense and shutdown D on the crappy teams like we are, we'll finish with a nice record.

Absolutely. The last two weeks, they not only beat teams they should beat, they dominated them....which is the mark of a damn good team.

There's some rough spots ahead because the schedule gets pretty nasty, but this is a confident team playing hard and smart. I'm loving it.

Honestly, if our offense doesn't pick it up we won't be winning games against good teams. I love how we've done so far, but we can't get the ball in the endzone. Even agasint the Browns we only put up 13 through three quarters.

We need to get Royal involved a lot more as well, IDK what's going on with him.

The D is the reason to be optimistic. The offense is still trying to put together their execution...especially in the red zone, which has been horrible.

If these Broncos are to beat quality teams, they will need to increase their efficiency in the red zone.

We have looked better each week offensively, but the passing game still needs to come together. We have a ton of talent, but still not making enough plays. In all 3 games we have left a bunch of points on the field by settling for field goal attempts. The defense looks great, the running game looks great. Orton is playing smart, not turning the ball over. We can win with that. But against the better teams we are going to need more touches for Marshall and Royal, and make some plays down the field in the passing game. The progress has been encouraging, and 3-0 is great. Lets see how they are playing against the good teams before we can make any real assessments though. (The bengals have looked good, but they played horribly against us so I wouldn't count that as a measuring stick)

The Bengals are turning out to be a decent team. After hanging 30+ on the pack and beating the Steelers with 23 points I think it's safe to say they are a tougher team than we thought. Therefore, as of right now, they were not a "gimme" win and i know they played us tough too and figured they were better than everybody thought and so far i'm right.

Also, last years team would be 1-2 right now, if not 0-3.

When we play teams that have both a good offense and defense it's going to be tough to only score 13 points in the first three quarters and still win.

Orton is playing very well, but he isn't going to have many comeback wins. Our D looks great, but I'm still worried about the offense. Hopefully our passing game will pick up soon. I'd like to see more Hillis and Royal.

It's great what the team has accomplished so far but there's still a lot of room for improvement.

1. Someone else needs to step up on the pass rush. Doom is doing it alone so someone, anyone, needs to step up. Moss or Ayers.

2. The WRs need to do a better job of getting open.

Our running game really turned it on. Very glad to see that. It was hit and miss the first few weeks. We need to stop taking penalties at the worst of times. Yet another short and goal and we take a false start. Left 7 on the field. Just can't do that. That said our red zone play calling wasn't very creative. But I'm betting that's more because why show what you've got when you are taking care of the other team pretty easily.

Are we playoff bound? Probably not, but it'll be fun seeing what happens. What I DO know is that this team is playing more complete, physical football and no one is going to look forward to playing us these days. That's in stark contrast to the past few seasons.

Excellent time to be a fan... but, I've been saying that all along.

I agree that our red zone passing needs serious work. Having said that, everything else is coming together for us. We contained Mcfadden and caused him to turn the ball over. We took advantage of Russell's utter crapness. Knowshon and Correll are looking like a great 1-2 punch. Kyle isn't forcing the issue. We're playing to opponents weaknesses very well (see how we kept Asomugha out of the game until they moved him in to stop the run).

How bout that screen pass with the 3 linemen barreling down the field and Graham right behind them? Loved that play.

The problem with talking about "last year's team" is that that team would never play this season. You act as if Shanahan wouldn't have made ANY changes in the offseason. Doesn't matter, most people understand why Shanahan is gone and I, for one, like the way McDaniels has built the team (minus 2 personnel moves). I'm not complaining at all about our team, though. I like this brand of football. But to say that Cutler being here makes us a worse team is ridiculous.

If Cutler were here, we wouldn't have Ayers, who did nothing, we likely don't have Alphonso Smith, who did nothing, and of course we don't have Kyle Orton.

We COULD HAVE had Moreno, Buckhalter, Dawkins, Davis, all those guys that are playing at a high level right now, AND Cutler. I just hope everyone realizes that. If Cutler is on this team we score 30 today no problem. Does it matter today? No. Will it be a factor in future games? Probably.

Again, I'm happy as hell with the results so far. The defense looks great. But I will never agree with trading Cutler.

On one hand you are right, and on the other maybe not.

If you don't think we will make the playoffs, then this is the pinnacle of the season right here.

However, I think we have a better shot than you might think. This is what we have left. If we can win 2 of our next 6, we are not in bad shape. We'd be 5-4, with 2 games against KC and 1 game against Oakland at home remaining. That's 8 wins, and all you are assuming is that we continue to beat the teams we are supposed to beat and we surprise only a couple of team.

Shanny's teams always started well, but many years finished poorly. You would have to admit that this team is completely different than those teams and should not be lumped in those teams. Not yet anyway.

And for the record, Lou from Littleton is predicting a 9-7, maybe 10-6 record. He has been consistent with that since preseason. I have never heard him say anything about a SB from this years team.

Except we had a ridiculously easy schedule in 2005....

This season, its the opposite...

Well, to be fair, I did say thus far.

Still, I like the way no one is taking them very seriously and the fact that they win without the flash that pundits or stat guys love. IF they beat Dallas (which they should IMHO) you'll see lots of long faces in Bristol.

I never posted that. you suck at hyperbole

anyway, historically this team always starts well. lets see what happens when the Broncos start playing teams that are playing well before I hop on Lou from Littleton's superbowl bandwagon.

<b>I'm not surprised with the 3-0 start...shom me more

Are you saying you expected to see the Broncos playing the way they are playing???

.

so far so good,

I think the broncos could be 3-0 at this point with last years team

the first true test for this defense arrives next week

I agree, last year's team would probably be 3-0. The only difference is, last year's team would be ranked 31st in every defensive stat against this same competition.

I think we have a chance to be a much better playoff team than that 2005 team.

There's something I don't understand... all week long people were talking about how improved the Raiders were, how tough their D was and how dangerous their running game was... people said this was going to be a good test for the team. Now suddenly, after we beat the **** out of them people are backtracking and saying we are pouring on some awful teams. If we beat Dallas next week will it be because the Broncos are a good team or because Dallas is not as good as advertised? Because I can see it already... it will never be good enough for some people.

I hope we have Josh locked up for a long time to come, he's building this team the right way. I saw marshall come to the sidelines today after a catch and shake his hand. Once you know who's in charge you can build a real team. they;ll have some rough games but they are getting better every weak and those teams that seemed unbeatable the beginning of the season don't look so tough now. I heard many good things from the national media today on the way josh is building this team.

You would have to admit that this team is completely different than those teams and should not be lumped in those teams. Not yet anyway.

.

there are enough shanny holdovers to lump them in with that group....

Well stop using that "I thought we'd be 3 and 0 and we are" argument because it is deceiving.

I am feeling REALLY good about the team.

And as far as the 3-0 start...I hoped that the Defense would gel early enough to get a good start.....but I never expected that it would be as good
as it has been. And realistically I hoped for 3-0 but thought that 2-1 would have been probable.

Although the O is still not therre yet, it is improving every week. and the defense is too.

McD is calling smart games....I had a Raider fan telling me how wonderful their secondary was and that the Broncos would leave with a loss.

McD did the smart thing and just ran the Raiders into the ground. Never challenged that secondary , because he didn't NEED to. He is taking what they give and letting Orton just be careful with the ball.

Next week , I think the plan will involve a lot more passing.

Good to see Marshall starting to get involved and playing better, now.

so far things are still getting better every week. I think that will continue , although we will lose some of the next 4. If we can beat NE and SD I'd take a Dallas loss as acceptable, if its not a blow out.

I love our mentality and gameplan each and every game thus far. We take care of the ball, don't turn it over, run the ball, stop the run, control the time of possession. We make half time adjustments, exploit weaknesses and generally play smart football. My biggest concern for our team is how we respond to a deficit, whether it be overcoming a few turnovers or what not. What will our offense be able to do(and defense for that matter) when we give up a few turnovers or a team jumps out to an early 14 point lead? Can we stay methodical in our approach and gain the game back, will our players panic and dig us a deeper hole? I am EXTREMELY excited with our team but at some point we are going to give up some points to an opponent and I want to see how we respond to that, particularly on offense.

The thing about this team is they are so well coached. In Josh McD we have a mind that seems to be able to clear away the superfluous stuff and see what is in front of him in real time. He basically says find the strength in a D than avoid it than find a soft spot in the D and exploit that, that is why McD has built a balanced team in that we can run the ball and pass the ball.
