Stokley, Moreno iffy at best
By Mike Klis

Two of the Broncosí top offensive weapons _ rookie running back Knowshon Moreno (groin) and veteran receiver Brandon Stokley (deep thigh bruise) _ will test their leg injuries prior to the game Sunday in Oakland in hopes they will play.

They will have to heal in a hurry. Had the game against the Raiders been played Friday, neither Moreno or Stokley would have dressed. Stokley suffered his injury after making the last of his five catches late in the first half last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. As he was getting run out of bounds, Stokley took a helmet to the thigh. It was the type of injury that intensified as the week went along _ Stokley practiced on a limited basis Thursday, but sat out the teamís final practice of the week Friday.

If Stokley _ who caught the 87-yard Immaculate Deflection to win Game 1 and had a team-high five catches for 70 yards in helping the Broncos win game 2 _ canít play, the Broncos are expected to activate veteran Brandon Lloyd for the first time this year. The Broncosí top three receivers would likely be Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal and Jabar Gaffney with Royal a possible candidate for Stokleyís slot position.

Moreno, who has just recovered from a sprained knee ligament, tweaked his groin during practice Thursday and did not practice Friday. He and Stokley will be game time decisions, but then again, arenít they all?

If Moreno canít go, starting tailback Correll Buckhalter is expected to get more than the 8 and 9 carries he received in the first two games, respectively, while averaging 7.2 yards per carry. LaMont Jordan and Peyton Hillis would also get a few more carries.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The prudent thing would be not to push either one into playing today with the string of games we have coming up. I'm ok with Royal in the slot but I'd like to see us activate both Lloyd and McKinley since we don't know what we are going to get with Marshall. Moreno is getting frustrating - looked like he was finally rounding into shape last week. If his carries go to Hillis I can live with that but not Jordan.

Frustrated with a rookie after two games in the NFL... I feel sorry for you when you have kids and begin potty training. Poor kids have an up hill battle with you. ;D

I love both of these guys, but maybe this will turn into an emphasis on utilizing Eddie... the emphasis we've been waiting for thus far.

i think stoke got injured during the game sunday, as the original post says. he sat out wednesday and practiced some on thursday, then sat out friday. not sure about the rain, but know tweaked his groin on thursday

on another note, its nice to have some depth and not have a 'go-to-guy'. the stoke has been BIG for us, our offense doesnt depend on him alone, as some other offenses in the league may depend on one or two receivers.
GO BRONCOS!

Denver Post tweeted that Stokely isn't on the field for pre-game warmups.

IMO Buck can handle 10 more carries so no biggie. Also It gives Marshall the perfect chance to get off. It makes royal have to get going.

Stokely was the depth for this yr, the starters need to step up, the depth has done its job at WR. Time for Marshall to dominate. If he can't get up for the Oakland ****ing Raiders, then he can't get off this yr.

Denver: WR Brandon Lloyd, OT Brandon Gorin, DL Chris Baker, DL Jarvis Moss, WR Kenny McKinley, OG Seth Olsen, LB Spencer Larsen, QB Tom Brandstater.

Lloyd and McKinley inactive so, if Stokley gets tweaked, we are down to three WR. I figured once Smith was able to be activated Moss would be the odd man out. Idk about playing Moreno. He needs to get fully healthy.

Oh man. I just remembered some crap I was talking on the Chiefs Planet message board. We had drafted Moss and the Raiders had drafted Russell. Some Raider fan was talking crap about Moss being too small to play and how he would hurt himself attempting to sack Russell, so I brought up a pic of Moss doing it in college. Who would have thought that both of them ended up being crappy?
