The result -- Kentucky finishing behind only Mississippi and Florida in the SEC in sacks -- justified the decision. Williams' five sacks may not look impressive on paper, but his all-around game already intrigued scouts. Showing enough versatility as pass rusher to earn an opportunity at the East-West Shrine Game, Williams is sure to be on the list of teams looking for second-day pass rushers -- especially those operating out of a 3-4 scheme.

Criminy, what was the off season, the draft, and training camp for? We are still trying to work out players for key positions? We've brought in six or eight players now since the "final roster" was established.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread and turn it into another McDaniels Haters Club, but this is nutty! MAKE A DECISION BOY WONDER!!!

... it will be weird to have the entire Kentucky Wildcat LB core from 2 years ago on our team.

Every team brings in free agents routinely through out the season for work outs... every single season. And it never fails to generate wild speculation and critical post like this... every single season.

Jezuz, dude... you watched any football before this offseason?

This is regular NFL business. Guys are joining rosters all season long. (And being cut.)

I honestly can't tell if some of these posts are serious, they're so ****ing ignorant.

As a Broncos fan, how can you POSSIBLY not know this is routine? For flip's sake, Shanahan was signing guys off the street AS STARTERS last season. That is, when he wasn't bringing them up from the practice squad as starters.

Really? We've had 7 people at 1 position placed on IR this season already?

That was a freakshow last year, and hardly the norm. Players are brought in here and there, but multiple players by week 2? Not usually the case.

Dude, you are an idiot. Every team brings in free agents for workouts every single week of the season. It's not necessarily to replace someone on your team or shake up the roster. It's to scout players for future contracts, for possible depth should someone go down, and for the practice squad. I will repeat again, EVERY SINGLE TEAM DOES THIS.

Does this not seem normal that you lose a LB to a freak injury, then you look for a replacement? What are you talking about "the norm?"

How do you propose to fill Larsen's role while he is injured?

The Colts just lost Gonzales for a few games so they signed Baskett - does that sound unusual?

Got to keep working guys out. What if next week we lose DJ and Andra Davis in the same game? Or Doom and Haggan? We then start working people out that Monday? Its the same reason you have a practice squad. We didn't carry an OLB type on the practice squad and this guy sounds like he'd fit that bill. If we lose someone we're one step ahead on getting someone in to fill the spot.

Probably the same reason we spent some time this week looking at punters. Another weak performance by Kern and we at least know what we have for options.

The Broncos, like every other team, are always bringing in players to check them out. This isn't new, unless you haven't spent any time watching football before.

Not only do they look to bring in guys at positions where they've had people go down, but also they tend to keep an eye out for guys they were interested in before as potential draftees/FAs and somehow didn't manage to get their hands on - when those guys get cut elsewhere they often want to have a look at them. Sometimes its a bit of both.

The scouting report seems to indicate that this guy may have been someone we had an eye on before anyway.....

Also, the jags were a 4-3 team last time I looked - this guy would seem to be a better fit for what we're trying to do on defense than what they're trying to do.....oh here comes the lombardi again... :sunshine:
