Very kind words from The Duke...

"Kyle's been in there before. He'll be perfect in this offense as time goes on and he gets more comfortable with it."

Elway was always able to look at his game and say what do I need to do to get better. Notice how he admitted he had same problems Cutler is having? forcing the ball, trying to do too much.

Elway though had a way of winning that so far has eluded Cutler. So Elway was able to last what 12-13 yrs, learned along the way, and then won in his last 2 yrs. Along the way though he got better at protecting the ball.

Will the Bears be offering Cutler what he wants if he has a bad yr. It will be uncapped, Cutler will want to get paid. What will Bears say to him if they don't feel comfortable giving him Rivers type money? Will Cutler just implode.

Exactly when does Cutlers contract expire? When it does will Bears have him signed already, or will they maybe just Tag him and see if some other team willing to take him? Or do it to let another team set his worth?

Next off season will be chaos IMO without a CBA.

As much as I disagree with you in the WPR forum I gotta say you have some great football takes. That is a very interesting point.

I am thinking McD saw the hand writing on the wall, he realized Cutler thought so much of himself that he was going to demand to be the highest paid player in football, he also realized that given Cutler's attitude he was going to be difficult to coach, he also sumized that he did not need a costly gun slinger to run his system so when it all gets added up cutler was not really a good fit here in Denver.

The basic annual sound bite from Elway on the Broncos quarterback situation. He's definitely entitled, but it's usually the same thing every year.

If Bowlen had any reservations about giving Cutler a new contract, the 'uncapped' year would have made his mind up for him.

Same goes for Marshall........who'd be a real liability once he becomes FU rich.

But Bowlen, being old, drunk and forgetful, probably didn't notice. ;D

I don't have any problems with Orton right now. But I also say that knowing he was the bag of chips that came with the double roast beef sandwich (the 2 first round picks). I think one of the reasons why this deal made sense for Denver was because Orton had just 1 year left on his deal. If he plays lights out then Denver could try and sign him long term. But if he doesn't play as well as the Broncos hope for the entire year, they are not on the hook for any long term contract. I see Orton, and always have, as a stop gap QB. This team is rebuilding from the bottom up and I don't think for a second that Josh is saying to himself that he has found "his guy" for the long term. He drafted Tom as a project and that looks like it could be fruitful down the road but I don't have any gut feeling at all that either Orton or Simms is the QB that Josh wants long term.

Griese won games for us, Plummer won a lot of games for us. Cutler has the potential to be great, but depends on him getting his mind right.

Elway has been decent with his predictions for the guys following him.

Which means he lied in the interview with Bowlen. He said he was excited about the Denver job because of the opportunity to coach an elite talent like Jay Cutler.

In most professions, if it is deemed you lied and misrepresented your intentions in getting a job, you are immediately fired.

Not necessarily. McD could have been excited about the possibility of working with Cutler from the outside looking in, but then had an "oh ****" moment when he actually met Jay. It's an easy scenario to envision.

Whatever you or anyone else thinks of Jay, I'm willing to bet that Bowlen now shares his opinion - there's a degree of evidence to suggest that it was Pat that pulled the trigger on the actual trade itself anyway! So to suggest that he might fire McD for not actually being excited about working with jay Cutler is more than a little crazy.....

Misrepresentation is only an issue if it is misrepresentation concerning something the employer actually cares about.....Pat Bowlen no longer cares what Josh McDaniels thinks about Jay Cutler - if indeed he ever did - and frankly, neither should the rest of us anymore......

* "Jake Plummer is the roadblock to the Broncos sucess"

Elway is just a nice guy. He knows deep down that he could really put the heat on Orton with the wrong words. He is just trying to help out the franchise and not put KO into a compromising position.

What's he going to say? Kyle Orton is a below average QB with a very limited skill set that cannot win games on his own?

Nice to see someone post "toe the company line" instead of "tow the company line".

If I had a dollar for every time I've seen people post "tow the company line", I'd be able to make a mortgage payment.

Elway had some pretty good defenses back in the day with Joe Collier running the 3-4. Just saying. Back then, Elway's Broncos were not a high scoring offense b/c Reeves was so conservative. Had Cutler had the defense Elway played with during various season, Cutler winning percentage would have been higher.

At least 5, hich would be RFA in 2011 at earliest. Cincidently, we traded him on the 1 year he only makes 2.5 or o, he has big roster bonus' the last 2 years.

Actually, I'm prety sure he signed a 6 year deal.
