Browns--Record: 0-1

Last game: Lost 34-20 at home to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

Who's hot: Return specialist Josh Cribbs helped the Browns take an early lead with a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown. He was one of two players to score on a punt return Sunday. DeSean Jackson of Philadelphia was the other.

Who's not: Quarterback Brady Quinn and wide receiver Braylon Edwards failed to connect against the Vikings. Edwards had only one catch for 12 yards. A pass by Quinn intended for Edwards was intercepted.

Key stat: The Browns' defense allowed Vikings star Adrian Peterson to rush for 180 yards, including 155 yards in the second half. And the Browns gave up 24 points in the second half.

Coachspeak: "Last year has nothing to do with this year. Next year will have nothing to do with this year. What we control is right now. It's consistently going to be emphasized. It's right now, this moment, this group, how we work, how we prepare and how we execute on Sunday."

— Browns coach Eric Mangini

I like the fact that McDaniels knows Mangini inside/out, this should be a good week for the offense w/McDaniels exploiting his former patriot assistant. What do you guys think, they both know each other very well, but playing at home, crowd noise, I think we can attack the brownies.

My goal for sunday is seeing the O eclipse our 39 total offense yardage way before halftime.

Mangini vs McDaniels? Are you serious? Are they arm wrestling?

I know who we are playing against you troll, my thread is about the knowledge of the schemes and defense that Mangini runs and the success that McDaniels and the pats had against Mangini in the past. Is it that difficult for you to follow where I was going w/ this?

I really do think we got the long end of the stick with Mcdaniels over Mangini. Mcdaniels for whatever else you think about him is a much more complete coach with a rounded background, Mangini was never ready for being a head coach and had to learn on the job so much so that he has developed some really bad habbits he can't break. Meanwhile Mcdaniels has Nolan to keep him honest.

i just don't see mcd pulling that 'starting qb is classified' act. i have no problem with being secretive about injuries and such, but that was just over the top on mangina's part.

Yeah, it is difficult to follow because your premise is beyond stupid.

Bmarsh and Eddie Royal should have big game vs. this team secondary. Last year royal had that 90 yard TD against these guys.

i want to see Hillis involved in the game. he is a mismatch all over the field and we need to use him to exploit defensive weaknesses and open up passing lanes for Eddie, Stokley and Marshall if he gets his **** together.

also an increased workload and output from Moreno would be awesome. he is showing flashes of how good he can be, and with a little more time and conditioning he is going to break out.

Its going to be a sumo match between McDaniels and Mangini to see who is more like Belichick.

I have a feeling Hillis won't see as much time at tailback while Larsen is out and Hochstein is starting ><

It's just the players of the Browns Vs. the players of the Broncos. The coaches have absolutely no bearing on the outcome of an NFL game. Get real. Two coaches that come from the same coaching tree meet for the first time as head coaches of their own team. It makes for an interesting story.

This post sums up your entire existence on Orangemane. If this isn't attention whoring then I don't know what is.

I went back and looked at the stats in terms of Mangini defense vs. McDaniel offense and the results are not great. Since Mangini has been a head coach he has faced New England six times in the regular season. Here are the average stats for New Englands offense in those games:
Average yards per game vs. NY 2006-2008: 367
Average points per game vs. NY 2006-2008: 24.33
Not too shabby until you look at New Englands average per game overall during the same period
Average yards per game vs. NFL 2006-2008: 370.76
Average points per game vs. NFL 2006-2008: 28.83
That is 4.5 points per game below their average. If you take last year’s New England team, as an example, and subtract 4.5 points per game from their average New Englands offensive ranking goes from 8th in the league to 23rd.

I should have also stated that during that same period NY was in the middle of the pack on defense.
