They were gashing the Chargers on the ground, so naturally you air it out in the red zone. The smart play to vertical dinosaur attack ratio was getting too high.

Two feet, an elbow, and the tip of the ball striking the ground in the endzone. I can't wait to hear the explanation of this ruling by Mike Pereira. Replay is supposed to function only to turn over the egregious error. This was the ticky-tackiest bullshiat replay return I've ever seen.

I don't see the criticism about the trade from Oakland's side. It's similar to Denver giving up a 1st for Gary Zimmerman in 1993. They are getting a known commodity, an All-Pro.

That's not the rule tho. The rule is that you have to maintain possession basically until you stand up. They were (badly apparently) trying to make the possession rule less ambiguous. When he let the ball flutter to the turf when he rolled over... it was no longer a catch. That's the rule. It should have been overturned.

I get the confusion. Hell mike and mike and steve didn't catch on to the rule change either.

Dr. Broncenstein

Add to the fact that replay is not meant to split hairs. It exists to prevent the egregious error. It was ruled a touchdown, and only overturned after splitting hairs.

Afer watching the Bills/Pats and the late game, Denver is seriously outclassed in several areas.

Cincy didn't play nearly that well, and we can't expect frk plays every week.

That Ref act was rediclous.

Remember Butch Johnson in the SB?

THAT was a dropsie!

I ran into him at a denver Hoome Depot, I asked him about it, and he just smiled.

I thought they wanted to reduce the refs deciding games this year.

God, they treat Brady like a china Buddah.

And this stupid 5 yard conact rule needs changing to 10 yards too.

I the end zone, you only need 2 feet down with control.

The ground cannot cause a fumble in the end zone after you establish 2 feet down. It can if your not down by contact in the field of play.

And the "Tonia Brandy" is rule is also overcalled.

I remember head slaps and contactact till the ball was in flight.

No wonder 90% of plays in the 4th are passes.

I the end zone, you only need 2 feet down with control.

The ground cannot cause a fumble in the end zone after you establish 2 feet down. It can if your not down by contact in the field of play.

That would be correct if this was 2007.

I don't have a link to the rule-book, but I saw the head of the NFL referees explain this on NFL network about a year ago.

If you are going to the ground in the act of catching the ball, you must maintain possession throughout the entire process. That doesn't mean simply hitting the ground. It means hitting the ground and coming to a complete stop. They where recommending to players to make sure they literally stand up with the football still in their posession.

It's a question of the ground causing a fumble (that rule hasn't changed). It's a matter of possession.
