Poor Jay?

He's probably happy that Urlacher won't be able to knock him out.

Hillenmeyer is ok. He's not Urlacher but he's not garbage either. Yet another Vandy guy on their team, btw.

While his leadership will be missed, Urlacher ain't the player he used to be. Might not be such a bad thing to see what a younger guy can do in there.

My guess: He's either alluding to Urlacher perhaps getting the injury after punching Cutler in the face after the game or because Cutler will now be losing at least one of the major keys to a great defense that he was counting on to help him out this year.

Injured Urlacher says season doneComment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services

Brian Urlacher's season appears in jeopardy after the Chicago Bears' six-time Pro Bowl linebacker told the Chicago Tribune his "season is over" in a text message.

Urlacher

Urlacher left Sunday's 21-15 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a wrist injury in the third quarter.

Bears coach Lovie Smith said Urlacher dislocated his wrist, and no timetable had been set for his return.

Citing unnamed sources, the Chicago Tribune reported on Sunday night that Urlacher will have surgery when the team returns to Chicago. The newspaper reported that Urlacher had an X-ray at halftime, but an MRI was not needed.

"It's always tough to have your leader go down," linebacker Lance Briggs said, according to the newspaper. "He knows the defense better than anybody and he communicates everything to everyone else."

It wasn't clear which play Urlacher was injured on, but he left on Green Bay's first drive of the second half on Sunday night.

Team officials had no other details about the injury or on his possible return.

Urlacher made several plays in the first half, including when he lowered his right shoulder into the quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he had released the ball on a third down to send him sprawling.

Report: Urlacher out for year with wrist injury
by FOXSports.com

Updated: September 14, 2009, 11:23 AM EDT

Opening night did not go well for the Chicago Bears. The morning after wasn't much better.

After losing to their division rival Green Bay Packers Sunday night, the Bears have lost starting middle linebacker Brian Urlacher for the season, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday morning.

Urlacher, a six-time Pro Bowler and 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, suffered a dislocated right wrist while defending a running play early in the second quarter of Chicago's season-opening 21-15 loss.

The Tribune had reported earlier Monday that Urlacher had already undergone surgery, but the Bears' defensive co-captain and team leader later confirmed via text message that his "season is over."

Nope. Denver traded their #1 next year for Al Smith.

It's never good to see a guy injured ... even a faider. And Ulracher's never punched out a woman or anything.

Not to cheer an injury, but this is obviously good for us.

Just them missing the playoffs moves our pick into the upper teens.

I have always liked Urlacher. Sad injury, although it will help our draft pick next year.

The Bears are now talking to Derrick Brooks. He knows Lovie Smith's Cover 2 like the back of his hand.

Bears D will still be good. They have too many playmakers to suddenly suck.

I had to laugh when they kept showing picks of him on the sideline holding his wrist during that last game winning drive by the Packers. He looked pissed but he didn't look tough holding it like that. I'm sure it hurt like hell but it was still kind of funny. Better for us though.

Never want to see anyone get hurt....hmmmm.

I just can't type things like "C'mon 5-11 baby!", and state my excitement about the prospects of threads on Seahawks' boards titled "Maybe we should have taken the Bears' pick...", without people thinking I'm glad Urlacher got hurt.

If the Bears swoon to a poor season due to injuries and Lovie Smith gets fired, Mike Shanahan, an Eastern Illinois alumnus and an Irish Catholic, will be the favorite for the head coaching position.

I'm guessing shanny's price tag is right around $10 million per... That might be a little to rich for Chicago.

I don't like hearing about injuries..

But to correct an earlier poster, this actually leaves the Bears with two large holes to fill, Urlacher, and Cutler's vag-na...
