Now, you have to start wondering...

Cutler and McDaniels were never meant to play on the same team. Sometimes destiny has a funny way of working thhings out. I think both McD and Cutler will be successful down the road.:sunshine:

But these two must have been seperated at Birth. I've never seen two people look stranger at the podium. Jay picks his ears and smells his armpit and McD gets cross eyed and does that cotton mouth like 'me,myself and Irene'. These two would be too funny together

As long as they have Ron Turner at OC it doesn't matter if they had Peyton Manning they would still suck.

No. They would have at least won the Packer & 49er games...leaving them in position to compete for the division or at least wildcard. The boneheaded QB play cost them those 2 games.

I posted this in another thread earlier today...

Interesting article from Dan Pompei in the Chi Trib today:

...maybe the Bears tackles haven't been as bad as they have been portrayed. Read more below.

Numbers games Sacking the sack theory

Many of Cutler's performance issues this season have been attributed to the "unreasonable" amount of pressure he has been under. But the numbers tell a different story.

Cutler has been sacked 20 times in 10 games this season. But 13 quarterbacks have been sacked as many times or more.

Among the quarterbacks who have been sacked as much or more who have performed considerably better are Brett Favre (21 sacks), Aaron Rodgers (44), Tony Romo (25), Donovan McNabb (22), Ben Roethlisberger (29) and Philip Rivers (20).

Let's look at it another way. Cutler has been sacked on 4.9 percent of his dropbacks. There are 22 quarterbacks who have started the majority of their team's games who have been sacked on a greater percentage. Among them are Favre, Rivers, McNabb, Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer and Joe Flacco.

It is possible for a quarterback to avoid sacks but still get hit an inordinate amount of times. But that does not appear to be the case with Cutler either.

In fact, Cutler has been hit at a lesser rate than the other quarterbacks in the NFC North -- once every 7.1 attempts excluding sacks. Lions quarterbacks have been hit once every 6.6 attempts, Favre 6.3 and Rodgers 5.7.

What we can determine is Cutler is not accustomed to all the pressure. Last year with the Broncos, he was sacked only 11 times.

Thirty quarterbacks were sacked more.

So if Cutler's performance has been inordinately affected by pressure, it may have more to do with Cutler than his blockers.

Comprehend the trend Blocking not all that's missing from run game Most critics lay most of the blame for the Bears' inability to run on the offensive line, and there is no question the run blocking has been inadequate.

But Matt Forte also has not helped himself very much. Forte has broken only five tackles this season, according to STATS. That is tied for 23rd in the NFL.

The pre game show on NBC today , they were talking about which of the three 2006 QB's the pundits would rather have. Ditka said " It's a lot harder to correct bad habits, than it is to instill good ones.....I'd take Vince Young."

Cutler is what we (some of us) thought he was .....and that ISN'T a franchise QB.

Ya know what, I said the same thing to myself when I was watching the game tonight. Cutler scrambled out to the left a few times and he just looked slow as hell. Plus, he just doesn't seem to be able to buy time in the pocket like he did the last couple years (OL or not). Weird.

Ya, I thought I was looking at Big Ben. While mobile for a large qb, I wouldn't exactly call him a cheetah out there. It's easy to buy time in a small window of space, but extending a play isn't the same thing.

I think Cutty's speed, like everything else was overblown.

He had pressure today, but that's what happens when you throw 20 INTs on a season. Teams start sending the house at you.

He's a great quarterback when he has support, and a terrible one when he doesn't. Great QBs can compensate for crappy teammates. Jay Cutler's more like a Ferrari. If the road is smooth, and there's no mechanical problems, it's a beast. Try to take it on a rocky road, and it'll fall apart.

To put all of Cutler's picks to music you'd need a looooooooooooooooong song, maybe Inagodadavida is long enough.

Or make multiple videos with different songs. Perhaps a trilogy of videos, like the Godfather only, it would be more like being forced to watch Sofia Coppola in Part III scenes over and over again. ;D

Cutler is done, washed up! So I say it's Hay-nee time! Let's face it, the boy's just dumb...he can't find the end zone to save his life. I relish the thought of the post game bears commentary this year. Between all the panic and cursing, it's bound to be a fun season in the windy city...!Booya!

Well, given the fact that Cutler was on pace to lead his team to zero points we can pretty much say that it was a closer contest because of Hanie.

Hanie injected some energy and fire into both the Bears O and D.. Cutler hardly even limped off the field.

No way a REAL QB leaves teh game under his own power like that and is pacing around the sidelines obviously with no major injury in the NFC championship game as his team goes down in flames!

Hanie showed Cutler up not only on the field but more importantly with his teammates and Chicago fans... Can hardly wait to read the Suntimes in a few hours :-)!

I think it would've been a great bump if the 3rd string QB led them to the Super Bowl. But, when it was getting on the line he failed. I will say, that WR end around on 3rd and 3? was ****ing stupid. Who ****ing play called that?

I agree that after Collins was in there for a few snaps before he got hurt and didn't man up to return for a couple snaps to close out the 3rd quarter in the NFC championship that the team did get re-energized when Haine came in.

It was not like Cutler was the only duh bear QB not to return in the NFC Championship game.

What really hurt duh bears was that they didn't get a Hester return and a score on D.

So, since the old Orange and Blue lost the Conference Championship, do you think they should draft a QB high next year? Maybe trade up in the first round and see if they can get and impact player? I mean...take a look at the stats. They're terrible. Six of fourteen for 80 yards. That's a 5.7 yard avg. And with 0 TD's and 1 INT, that come to a 31.8 QB rating. To be fair that was only one half of work. So...double all those numbers I guess.

I kinda think that things are on the right track if your team is playing in the final 4.

They need lots of OL help. It is a miracle that they made it that deep with the worst OL in the NFL.

Sounds like maybe you didn't see it? Can't be just me, Hanie was nothing short of remarkable. Stats tell the story:

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/4844/hanie.jpg

Hanie played the 4th quarter only, but in that quarter he doubled Cutler and Collins' combined completions and yardage ... and led the Bears to their only points of the game:

The pick-6 came when BJ Raji dropped back into pass coverage - if you can believe that - and slid right into the passing lane. Reading that kind of cover scheme is tough for a guy who never plays, and he really never did play before this ... threw just 14 passes in three years. Other Int was a bad pass on 4th down to end the game.

Go here, jump up to about 4:30 on these highlights: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d81dde46d/Packers-vs-Bears-highlights

But behind Chicagos oline you have to be fleet of foot like Cutler is. Lets face it he made about 10 amazing plays a game. Not because the throw was soooo difficult but because he had to avoid 1, 2 rushers before he could throw the ball.

Hanie not athletic enough to survive behind that oline.

i know this post is old, but after watching a LOT of tonights game, cutler needs to get rid of the ball faster. there line is terrible and probably the worst in the NFL, but a lot of the sacks tonight came when he held on the ball looking to make a play. maybe the offense needs to adjust to short routes and quick developing plays, im not sure, but i feel like the bears oline is taking a lot of flack when there are other factors involved.

TSIguy is right, and i'll add that Cutler didn't seem to have the lazer tonight. Came up short or floated a few - decent footwork, but the guy doesn't usually need to set his feet for more than a split second. Looked noodly a bit.

Yup, they were saying the same thing on Mike & Mike this morning. He's not getting the best protection, and that's an understatement, but he certainly creates some of his own problems. And then showing up his LT and bumping him on the field is just typical, classless Jay Cutler.
