This is the beauty of defensive football. The defense played VERY well and gave them the chance to have something this incredible to happen. It's not simply luck, it's a complete game by the defense that made this possible.

God.. I'm still pumped.

WHOOOOOOOO!

I agree. Defense came to play and the offense needs some work.

Both sides killed themselves too .,...

Maybe an all-time record for combined drops in one game. 14, 15+

Not an official stat, but they do count them.

The offense needs a new quarterback.

That miracle TD was just Orton's 2nd TD in 12+ quarters. That is unacceptable.

Both defenses lucked out about drops but I honestly believe Cincy benefitted more from it than Denver did.

O-line penalties absolutely killed us on that second to last drive when Orton took the sack on 3rd and forever. His mistake but that was culminated by two successive bad penalties on the O-line.

God damn we deserved to win that game. I dont care what anyone says.

Perfect thread.

The QB-only crowd won't see anything but a sub-par performance from an injured QB today... but the real story was a complete team effort.

DEFENSE and SPECIAL TEAMS kept us in this game and gave us a chance to win.

This is how playoff football looks, folks. Generally more running... but often low-scoring, brutal... and decided by turnovers.

The offense clearly has to find a rhythm, and there are many issues to discuss... but as we've talked about all off-season, when you can play defense and special teams, you give your team a chance to win when your offense sputters.

Cinci actually has a pretty solid defense, as well.

This was an extremely encouraging win, despite it coming from somewhat lucky circumstances on one play... a lot of good things happened today.

That's how we roll! Only Bronco fan in the bar, too many Bengal fans, and they took it well. My heart is still racing.

It's not just luck; maybe we just deserved this after all the **** that's happened.

To win the first game, on the road, with all the new players and schemes, is very impressive no matter what. Play D and don't turn the ball over, you have a chance every time.

Guys, the defense surrendered a touchdown drive at the end there ... forget much?

We allowed seven points to a very good offensive team.

Stupid...PREVENT D!
Our D played well until the last two minutes.

Ya... the only score the surrendered throughout the entire game. At worst it should have been a 10 point performance for the defense which you will take EVERY SINGLE TIME.

The point was by playing well for the entire game they kept their team in the game. Even giving up 7 right at the end, it meant it was only a single point game which allowed something nutty just like that tipped pass to happen.

That's the entire point.

C'mon dude, they played great. I blame a dumb coaching decision for the last td. Took their foot off the pedal

Amen brother. To quote Popps- "this is what team football is all about."

Offense didn't turn the ball over--defense got a couple--special teams played well. Team football, what a concept.

first thing i thought of was it was exactly like shanahans offenses. attack attack until you get a lead, then pathetic ball control offense that ultimately loses the game. gotta keep going after it all game, not play hopefully we win.

Should have been a shutout on the road, but came up a little short of a perfect Defensive game.

Giving up those seven points nearly cost Denver the game. ;D

Yes they did, and I'm not happy about it. However, with that being said, this was a very good defensive effort against a good offense.

Not only that, but the D actually looks like it can get better as the season goes along, witch is something I could not say for several years now.

Dude, you are posting that same thing all day long. We get your point already. You don't like Orton.

Coverage was great, definitely ... but return game I dunno. I think I'm for pulling Royal outta there.

Defense just let them march down the field to make it 7-6, Those back to back sacks were nice though XD

Say what you want but the defense shut out a high powered offense for all but 38 seconds of the game. I don't think any coach in the NFL today would complain about that if you told them before the game that your defense would only give up 7 points. So what if it was late in the game, then we would and should be blaming the offense for a crap performance, not the D for giving up only 7 points. I mean, what are we really expecting here, for them to shut teams out for the entire game, not realistic.

It actually seemed like cinci was surprised that we held up in the run game.

It was not all thanks to the defense, more along the lines of the bungels well just being the bungels.

It was still pretty damn lucky. However, if the defense doesn't play7 stellar football for 55 minutes, we aren't in position to win, lucky or not.

Exactly.

I think the point is, when you're getting solid performances from your D/STs... you're in a position to capitalize on situations like this.

I have no doubt that last year's D would have had us down by 20+ points by the 4th quarter, forcing a pass-only attempt to come back.

Again, I'd be much more upset if our D/STs started slowly. I expected our offense to sputter a bit with a new system, new QB and injured QB.

If we're not moving the ball better in a few weeks, perhaps we've got things to discuss.... but you've got to give it some time to play out.

The good news is, we're sort of learning on the job... and we're 1 and 0!
