wow! CU football is a joke. maybe they should move to division III where they might be more competitive. they wouldn't have to face any scholarship athletes in division III.

ha ha ha ha ha

...or maybe they could go back to recruiting convicts from Somoa.

who cares about Boulder anyway? it's just a bunch of damned dirty hippies.

Sucks for you guys. Hopefully over the course of the season they can make steady improvements. There's usually several teams per year in college football that start out really poorly but by the end of the year, they are playing well. That might happen, here. One thing that I found kind of disturbing was that the announcers said that Hawkins got a (new) 4 year deal and he wasn't going to get fired because they couldn't cough that much dough up. Is that true, Buff fans?

Pretty much how I have heard it from the crowd at the game on Sunday. If you are getting worse after 4 years in charge it's time to go. This blows.

1. They've proceeded to regress over '08 and into this season, they're not going to steadily improve no matter what excuses the announcers on ESPN want to claim it will.

2. This team has quit on both Cody and Dan. $20 says it happened the second they announced Cody as the starter before the CSU game.

3. They claimed the money wasn't there to buy out Barnett, it was. It will be there to get rid of Coach Talk, maybe sooner rather then later (as in mid-season).

4. Coach Talk knows he's a dead man walking.

Last year he signed an extension that keeps him there till 2012. Originally it was till 2010. Its sounds a lot like what NU did with Callhahan. I think we had to eat A LOT of his contract because we fired him one year after a contract extension as well.

He's gonna get canned this weekend. They'll find a way to pay his buyout. Not worth it to keep him on board for this season in the grand scheme of things.

What does that do to Cody Hawkins and that QB that they started talking about red shirting? I would imagine that would end that talk. I would like to see you guys get better for the B12 North's sake, as long as you guys still lose to NU of course :)

Overreliance on who practices the best. Might have been ok @ Boise when most of the team were marginal athletes, but giving Sumler more touches than say Scott and Stewart (against CSU) because he knows the playbook just a little better doesn't cut it a BCS conference. Scott is hands down the best back, and he showed it tonight in the 1st half with his carries and his moves all night returning kicks.

Half the staff are still Boise guys Hawk brought with, despite the fact that some are neither good recruiters, nor strong coaches. These guys should have been dumped after Year 2, yet they're still here in Year 4.

Position groupings, Bama doesn't pull Julio off the field for certain WR formations. He's their #1 WR, he plays unless he's tired. That doesn't happen @ CU.

He's shown an inability to adapt and grow as a coach since he got here. He has done some positive things, cleaned up the schools image after everything that happened under Barnett and he's recruited much better than GB ever did.

Colorado and Colorado State are both in my top five college teams, with Penn State probably making the list at 5.

But I graduated from Toledo and that is where my loyalty is.

From the outside I don't think he that bad of coach. It looks to me that he really hasn't done a good job recruiting on offense or defense lines. I think he thought that since he was a big school that he would automatically get the 4 and 5 star recruits and that hasn't happen. Plus I know his son knows the system but he really isn't that good.

Between me rooting for the Broncos and Buffs, this football season is going to be HORRIBLE.

What do we have to look forward to AFTER the horrible season? Hawkins sticking around for more and Denver not having it's top 5 1st round draft pick after getting it's ass kicked all season.

It's enough to break a fan's will.

DL? Yes, but that was a problem with Barnett too. The difference is that in retrospect, Barnett's staff was much better at developing what they had. Barnett hated to recruit, but he was a good coach.

OL? Disagree. He's actually recruited very well on the OL, but they can't develop it and Talkins doesn't know how to use it. I think it was Klatt who said after the CSU game that they have a bunch of huge OL and they're trying to be a finesse team and not a power team.

He's just in way over his head, and it's become readily apparent this year.

Again, everyone said the money wasn't there to get rid of Barnett and they had booster step up to do it and provide extra $$$ for improved Asst Coaches salaries. The money will be there. If this continues to go down in flames, it becomes financially irresponsible to not get rid of him (ticket sales, pissed off donors who want him gone and withhold cash until he is, merchandise, etc.).

I differ to you on the level of OL recruits, since I don't follow the team. But like I said the problem for your team is because of lack of offense and defense line play. Neither is real nasty and that stop Colorado from doing anything.

Wow, there was a thread started for this humiliation? I couldn't get on the OM last night. Probably a good thing. As a CU alum, let me just say that Herc is right. I can't watch this anymore. This is worse than the pre-McCartney days. If Coach Talk (good name, Herc) had any sense of honor he would resign this morning and take his son with him. The word "suck" comes nowhere near describing that exhibition last night. You get your ass kicked by Toledo?! Really? Montana State, and now ****ing Toledo? And not only do you get your ass kicked, but you don't even look like you belong on the same field. You make ****ing Opelt look like a #1 draft pick? A major league WTF to you, Coach Talk.

Hawkins should be ashamed for letting his son stay in a long-over game to absorb the brutal punishment he received.

I don't know if it's just bad coaching or a serious dearth of talent. Either way it goes back to Hawkins. There's certainly not much speed on that team.

I've been going to CU games for thirty years. I couldn't fathom anything worse than Fairbanks and the blue uniforms, Slick Rick's abandonment, or watching CU lose 70-3 in a bowl game until the first two games of this year. I obviously, and quite blindly, thought Hawkins knew what he was doing. How is it after four years we're still watching walk-on's play key roles? No offense to McKnight and Espinoza, but I would think you could find some students in the stands with more athletic ability. Furthermore, Hawkins likes to brag how over 60 players have increased their strength. Well how is it both lines have been dominated by seemingly lessor opponents? And what is the deal with letting that QB do a Vince Young impersonation? Are you telling me there isn't a single player on that team that can take a proper angle and make a tackle?

CU Football is in complete shambles and I'm praying McD and the Broncos don't go down the same path. Otherwise, the football season I've been waiting for since January is already down the tubes. It's pretty depressing.

Wasnt Scott the best RB if his recruiting class? With that in mind, how can anyone be so sure its talent?

Yes he came to CU over Texas because his uncle was at CU. He also showed up over weight and out of shape last year. But he looks 10 times better this year. But Coach Talk insists on having him return kicks and run here and there as a relief runner. When he actually ran the kid he looked like could be great. But then coach Talk stopped albeit because the D sucks and dug themselves a hole.

I hope so unless he gets fed up with how they play him. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer to a JUCO and then enroll in Texas down the road.

I heard on the Light rail Scott picked CU over Texas because CU gave his Mom a job Texas would not. Uncle was other part but, now that's history will he jump to UCLA next year.

That's not true. They bought his mom a bank.

Guess that job never panned out since she's still in Cali.

He can't transfer to a JUCO. He either sits out a year, 2 years if he wants to go to a Big XII team, or goes to I-AA for a year which will count as the year he sat out.

Sorry I meant I-AA and transfers. I totally forgot about the same conference reference.

Not sure at all. Actually I have no idea as it is hard to follow college ball from overseas. Looking from insight from locals. Please tell me, what happened to this program?
