I wonder if it's a speech impairment or he was nervous...

It's a bit of both. If I were in media relations for the Bills, I'd hold the kid back from doing a lot of media until he was a little more comfortable. Poor guy.

feel bad for him

Did anyone ever see the Ron Harper interview on First Take?

That was painful to watch, it took like like 3 min to get a sentence out

I saw this earlier today. People on other websites calling him the dumbest football player and whatnot. Pretty ****ty, IMO. Poor guy just turned 22 and probably hasn't given a bunch of interviews, and definitely not a press conference. You could tell he was nervous and blushing. Just made his stuttering that much worse. Give the kid a break. Everyone is just jealous because he is going to make more money this year than 95% of us will in any year of our career.

Yeah because a speak problem is a regular barrel of monkeys.

Takes guts to stand up there like that in front of a camera with a speech condition. It's not the worst stutter I have heard though and he did not seem overly nervous to me.

Now he is making some good money he will be able to hire a therapist if he wants. Like when TD got braces!

Wow...that's too bad. Hopefully, the Bills PR staff can help this guy out. That was painful to watch...can't imagine what it was like to go through it.

Yeah because a speak problem is a regular barrel of monkeys.

Considering it made the front page of break.com, is #64 on google trends and already has numerous YouTube remixes... yeah, it kind of is being treated like a regular barrel of monkeys.

No doubt.

Shame on those who made a point to make fun of this young man.

Darren Sproles used to be the same way. He couldn't get out anything close to a complete sentence and avoided the camera at all cost. It was great to see how far he had come last January when he had a gang of microphones in his face after his walk off TD against Indy. That must have been inspiring to those people who struggle with stuttering. Hopefully Lanksder will have similar success.

When I went to High School one of our teachers had a stuttering problem. He could speak a lot more clearly if he took deep breaths and tried to talk slower, but when he got flustered or pissed, it was bad. Cool teacher too!

Marion Barber has used a public speaking/speech therapist-type assistant in the past. It can be a hard thing, speaking to the media, answering the droves if you're not used to it.

This kid will be alright. He could likely give 2 craps about someone mixing him up on Youtube. I'd bet the PR people asked if he was comfortable going out after that game and he checked off on it, knowing he had a problem. For him, it was a moment in the spotlight, regardless of the tripping up. He's just out there, busting his ass, making a great play for a 7th rounder and it's ****ty for people to rip on him. But is it surprising these days? Not at all, actually.

Seems like a nerves thing and I'm sure he speaks completely normal when it's just you and him. I'm sure he'll be fine once he gets acclimated to the spotlight. He seemed pretty excited considering he just got two picks so maybe that was part of it.

Glad to see he made the team and he can laugh at all the losers remixing it on youtube cause he's cashing fat checks.

Whenever I see a Thread like this I wince, because 99% of the time around here it's a pile-on, and I refuse to stoop to that level or call people names.

While I have been a lurker for many Years here I must say just how impressed I am with everyone's reaction to this-it is total class. My Hat's off to all you Gentlemen-you have my respect and admiration.... :notworthy

The Teacher said "Human beings are the only animals that stutter". A little girl raises her hand. "I had a kitty-cat who stuttered", she volunteered. The teacher, knowing how precious some of these stories could become, asked the girl to describe the incident. "Well", she began, "I was in the back yard with my kitty and the rottweiler that lives next door got a running start and before we knew it, he jumped over the fence into our yard! "That must've been scary", said the teacher. "It sure was", said the little girl. "My little kitty went 'Fffff, Fffff, Fffff'... and before he could say "****," the rottweiler ate him!"

Combination--that is unfortunate--I went to speech therapy class when I was 4 and 5 years old and have not stuttered since(until that is I started dating in the 7th grade)--so this hits home a little bit--unfortunately--this person more than likely did not have the resources to overcome this aliment--hopefully, he is able to get help..I am sure a speech pathologist will get note of this story and step up...

One of my idiot friends emailed this video to me this morning with the subject title...

"Tackled by Words."

Props to the kid for having the guts to get in front of a mic. Hopefully he'll work it out.

I was thinking the same thing. I saw the thread and I knew I didn't wanna open it cause I thought the board would be tearing him up.

That really sucks. It's rude posting it in the first place. It's rude telling your friends about it so it goes viral. It's rude remixing it. It's just rude in a fundamentally nasty way. Sometimes I can't stand the way people behave.

You can't help but feel bad for the kid. He seems like a well mannered young man as well...addressing the media as "sir" and "ma'am".

LOL! I might be one of the few people on this board that thought this was funny. Not trying to be mean, but watching it the first time was funny. After that it seemed a little wrong to laugh.

On a positive note, the remix is hot. You can dance to it. If the remix makes any money, he better sue and get his cut..

EDIT: the more I look at the original the more I feel bad. The remix is still good.

Poor guy, takes a lot of courage to get up there when you know you have trouble speaking. Piss on people who make fun of him for it.

I feel bad for him.
ESPN says his home town is Whistler, Alabama.
then a Google search got me this:

Population 5,131
Median Household Income $27,168
*Based on zipcode 36612 at the center of this area.
Real Estate Market Information
Median Home Sale Price $53,000

Good luck to the kid on all his success, hope he does well in the NFL! ^5

LOL at people calling other people a-holes, sick ****s, etc etc. Do you know any stutterers? All of the stutterers I've known can laugh at themselves, and with others.

What about all of the fat and ugly people in the world that you jackasses laugh at? You're telling me that every one of you in this thread has never laughed at anyone's shortcomings at some point in life? There's a difference between actively and aggressivley (sp?) attacking someone with the intention to slander and defame, and having a knee jerk laugh reaction to something that's part of life.

Wow. He stutters, and it's funny. and the remix was even funnier.

I've got man boobs, they bounce when i run. it's funny. and the remix made about it would be ten times funnier.

Get off your soapboxes people, I swear the pot is calling the kettle black.

****in a.
