WOW is all i can say.

Prior to Wednesday afternoon’s practice session, Head Coach Josh McDaniels announced the team’s 2009 captains.

The club’s seven captains are: cornerback Champ Bailey, safety Brian Dawkins, tight end Daniel Graham, inside linebacker Mario Haggan, center Casey Wiegmann and inside linebacker Wesley Woodyard.

This season marks Bailey’s third as a team captain, while it is the second time Graham has taken on the leadership role.

All seven team captains were voted on by their teammates.

Stay tuned to DenverBroncos.com for more information on Wednesday morning’s press conferences.

Seriously, talk about a math major.

Maybe they'll do what they did for the past few years and have a rotating "special teams" captain voted on each week.

So far, 4 defensive guys and only 2 on offense. Interesting.

??? 4 of the selections make sense (Bailey, Dawkins, Graham, and Weigmann) and I guess you could make an arguement for Woodyard (he's been taking names on kick return) but Haggan is puzzling.

Couldn't that spot go to someone like Eddie Royal, or Elvis Dumervil?

You know, someone who isn't a borderline starter at best?

Upon further review, Woodyard has to be the special teams captain, no one else there really plays STs, and Mike Leach was our old one.

anyone griping about who was voted team captain just doesn't get it...

we aren't in the locker room nor in the huddle...the 7 players chosen were elected by their peers...

if anything, this should give us an indication of players who have stepped up this year (and also an indication of some who may not have)...

good for Woodyard & Haggans...they're clearly leading by example and making the best of their opportunities...

Actually, he was voted Bronco-team-captain-for-life-no-matter-what by the disappointed Maners :)

And, he was voted most-likely-to-showup-loaded-for-a-divisional-title-game by the cutler-sucks Maners :)

And, he was voted most-boring topic of conversation by me. So why am I posting?

Look at the video on DenverBroncos.com where they name the captains. You see Mario Haggan screaming and hyping everyone up before a game... he's not a captain because he's "amazing" it's because he's a motivator and a leader.

Very interesting that DJ isn't a captain and especially that Davis isn't either. Davis was supposed to have been picked up strictly due to his leadership.

Woodyard must have gotten it for ST's.

Clady and Royal should be due next year!

Orton is a joke!

I can understand Woodyard for Special Teams, but Haggan over DJ ? That's pretty stupid, although there's a ton of stupid things going on on this team, so why not just add to it, I suppose.

Clady or Royal should have gotten a spot on offense as well.

DJ's athleticism does not translate into leadership and apparently the LOCKER ROOM knows it.

He's just not a natural leader is all.

It doesn't mean he sucks or that Haggan is better.

how is Haggan over DJ stupid? the players voted on it, it isn't like McDaniels said these are my captains deal with it, the players decided they wanted these guys to lead them

also, DJ is not a motivational or vocal leader, he is a quiet lead by example guy. Haggan is the guy amping dudes up.
