"During the 20 minutes that the media were allowed to watch the workout Tuesday, Orton, wearing a glove on his right hand, threw accurate short passes in warm-up drills. He handed off with his right hand without any apparent problems."

Noticably absent is any mention of him throwing the ball downfield or how much zip he can put on the ball. We still have 5 days so hopefully he gets most of the way healthy.

In all fairness, we didn't see him throw the ball downfield through most of the preseason. I guess that's not part of the gameplan anymore.

I could care less how tough he is. If he throws interceptions he won't get a pass cause of the finger. If he plays he should play well or simms should be in there.

Orton has a hard enough time throwing 15 yard outs with a good hand, why in hell would McD put him out there with a bad hand and hope he can make the throws. Just does not make sense.

Nope, I bet Simms gets the start. It's a gamesmanship move on McD to make the bungles think Orton is starting.

Of course, I could be wrong... but I'll take that chance.

ro_50
09-08-2009, 04:52 PM
McD does have a hard on for Orton, who didn't WIN the job in preseason before the injury over Simms.

But I hope he plays well for the team's sake.

But if he continues to struggle and throw chink and dink passes, they gotta give Simms a chance.

Okay, so Orton might start.

Now, WHY would any coach DO THAT if Orton Can't get it done or is not
capable of playing well?

People say Orton starts because McD is tied to him because it was HIS decision to do the trade with Chicago....therefore he'll start Orton over everyone else?

Meanwhile, McD has the PERFECT opportunity to step away from Orton, due to an INJURY to his throwing hand. So, he has Simms and Brandstater available if Orton really IS hurt.

If he starts Orton wouldn't you think that it more likely means that Orton gives us the best chance to WIN, and is playing BETTER than the other two. Or do you think McD simply has a DESIRE to lose games, as long as he can start his Neck bearded favorite?

Frankly, I don't think McD falls into the stupid category. If Orton isn't capable of getting it done, then Simms will start. Who cares if McD plays games with the injury report, as long as he gets a win. The game plan is being put in as we speak. By tomorrow they'll know who is really going to go.

If Orton Can't throw the ball downfield he won't start. It takes too much of the field away from the offense, and gives the D too much of an edge, and it will give his detractors too much amunition.

Like I said, I don't think McD is stupid.
