Right now the problem is the porous defense.

Rock Chalk
09-06-2009, 06:01 PM
Cody isnt the problem in THIS game.

The lines are being pushed around by CSU. Doesnt matter who your QB is when your d and o lines are getting manhandled by a FCS school.

He's part of the problem. Their most promising drive ended when Hawkins had plenty of time to throw, but his combination of incredible indecision coupled with the slowest release in the history of football resulted in a 10 yard sack.

His field presence is AWFUL...

Hawkins didnt give up 17 points dude. One bad play by Hawkins isnt the problem. The line isnt giving him much time on 19 out of 20 plays and the defensive line cant get any pressure on Stucker at all.

I'm not placing all of the blame on Hawkins... but he certainly deserves quite a bit of it. Hell the offense can't stay on the field for more than 3 plays to let the defense catch it's breath and figure this out.

Certainly Hawkins is a problem in so far as that he isnt a great QB.

But they cant run, they cant pass, they cant defend. Hawkins is MAYBE 15% of the problem CU has today. The lines on both sides are probably 85% of the problem.

Big East is a joke of a football conference. It was created for Basketball and then they switch the teams around for football. Its bull**** that they are a BCS conference at all. Not a single good team in that conference.

I agree, the MWC would be a better BCS conference.

Is it normally like this? The announcers said that 6 of the ;last 7 meettings were decided by a TD or less, what about before that? Lot of blowouts?

The MWC has every right to be upset. They have stepped their game up. The Big East is there by default and are stagnant. Sadly when the schools in the BCS get such a big cut of the money they have no motivation to change the system.

Its a shame because the only hope MWC have is an at large.

enjolras
09-06-2009, 06:22 PM
CU has, for most of it, just stomped CSU (they stopped playing it at one point). They generally act like the big-kid school that they are supposed to be.

For the last several years CSU has shown much more emotion, played harder, and all of the games have been close (except for last year). Including a couple where CSU basically just gave it away in the end.

Usually I would say stick around it could change but it just doesn't look this way.

As I type CU intercepts so it could change.

But this series has been known to have great comebacks. No lead is safe there have been great comebacks.

No, what the MWC needs to do is get better at basketball.

There is no "correlation" between the basketball High Majors and the BCS except they are the same conferences. However if the MWC shows that it can compete in both basketball and football then the Big East may fold. Its already bloated as is in Basketball and needs to fold anyway.

I ****ing hate the Big East and every single team in it.

Its about money and they dont consider B-ball officially but the reality is they do. Otherwise the High Majors wouldnt necessarily be teh same conferences as the BCS conferences.

The NCAA has a lot of issues when it comes to colleges. Unfortunately I dont see an answer when you have 119 Division 1A schools. Someone is always going to be unhappy in any of the sports.

It was actually great growing up as a Buff fan. I started understanding football right around the time the program started clicking. And they were a lock for 10 games all the way up until I started going there. Ha.

But they did win a Big xii championship while I was there, so I can't complain. It's painfully obvious that Barnett ruined a burgeoning tradition and Hawkins is burying it.

Some would say you have to give him a 5th year, too, so he can have all of his players. But it's nit exacly like they are rich in talent.

Look, I'm sure the rumors of severe budgeting restrictions are hindering their ability to compete in the big xii. But it's not like CSU is Fort ****ing Knox, and it looks like they're going to smoke the Buffs at home. It's not only pathetic but it's embarassing.

He led with the crown of his helmet = 15 yard penalty.

I saw Elijah Blue Smith play at Crenshaw high school. He was no joke there. I see he's still laying the wood.

At this point it's not totally clear that it is an illegal hit. Looks pretty close though. It will be reviewed over the week and if a penalty is called for it probably will be. But he certainly shouldn't have been DQed on the spot.

KU put up 49 resting their starters midway through the 4th quarter and didnt even play their best receiver.

Did they compete with Nebraska and Oklahoma back in teh old Big 8?

That was really before I cared about college.

Well, when McCartney was finally pulling the Buffs out if the abyss, I belive OU was under sanctions that would make your head spin. But yeah, CU and Nebraska were pretty close there for about 6-7 years, with the Buffs upsetting an absolutely loaded Nebraska squad in 89 and 90.

The most disappointing season ever was '94. That was the best CU team ever. The star power was unbelievable. They went undefeated, sans an absolute ass whipping in Lincoln. Ugh. That game still bothers me.
