http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2009/09/05/the-broncos-official-cut-list-roster-breakdown/

they finished the article after i posted:
The Broncos have (finally) released their official list of cuts to get the roster down to 53 players.
But if the team’s actions throughout the preseason was any indication, this is by no means a final roster. Expect plenty of minor (and maybe a couple of bigger) moves as the season goes on.

Here are the cuts from Saturday: outside linebacker Tim Crowder, running back Darius Walker, wide receiver Matthew Willis, defensive end Nic Clemons, offensive lineman Mitch Erickson, cornerback Tony Carter, defensive end Everette Pedescleaux, tight end Marquez Branson, linebacker Braxton Kelley, safety Vernon Fox safety Antwain Spann and cornerback D.J. Johnson,

Add those to the 11 moves made Friday. Center Kory Lichtensteiger, defensive tackle Carlton Powell, defensive end Matthias Askew, quarterback Ingle Martin, cornerback Rashod Moulton, offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg (a Colorado State graduate), linebacker Lee Robinson, wide receiver Nate Swift, running back Marcus Thomas, cornerback Joshua Bell were all released. Offensive lineman Matt McChesney was placed on injured reserve while the team and McChesney’s representatives negotiate an injury settlement.

The Broncos had to cut 24 players from the active roster over the past two days to make room for new DE Vonnie Holliday and suspended receiver Brandon Marshall.
Breakdown:
9 offensive linemen: the starters (Clady, Hamilton, Wiegmann, Kuper, Harris) plus backups Seth Olsen, Russ Hochstein, Tyler Polumbus and Brandon Gorin.
7 wide receivers: Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley, Jabar Gaffney, Kenny McKinley, Chad Jackson and Brandon Lloyd.
4 running backs: Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, LaMont Jordan and Peyton Hillis, who doubles as a fullback. Spencer Larsen also on the fullback depth chart.
3 quarterbacks: Kyle Orton, Chris Simms, Tom Brandstater
3 tight ends: Daniel Graham, Tony Scheffler, Richard Quinn
6 defensive linemen: Ronald Fields, Chris Baker, Kenny Peterson, Ryan McBean, new DE Vonnie Holliday, Marcus Thomas
9 linebackers: OLBs Elvis Dumervil, Mario Haggan, Darrell Reid, Robert Ayers, Jarvis Moss; ILBs DJ Williams, Andra Davis, Wesley Woodyard, Spencer Larsen.
4 cornerbacks: Champ Bailey, Andre Goodman, Alphonso Smith, Jack Williams
5 safeties: Brian Dawkins, Renaldo Hill, Darcel McBath, David Bruton, Josh Barrett
3 specialists: K Matt Prater, P Brett Kern, LS Lonie Paxton

Who do you think gets cut when LeKevin gets back?

Possibly McBean or Thomas if Vonnie comes in and impresses and dethrones McBean in the rotation, hell or even Vonnie if he stinks it up. If not a DL than Lloyd or Jackson if Marshall is doing well for us and Jabar Gaffney is healthy.

Depends on how they play, but probably Vonnie.

Surprised Barrett beat out Fox, but happy for it.

Sad about Carlton Powell ... betcha he finds a home somewhere in the league.

I am we finally got a good lineup on the defensive side of the ball and a pretty damn good offense only question is at QB but who knows but personally I think we have a better team than we did at this time last year talent wise.

finally got rid of scrubs like Josh Bell

Depends on how they play, but probably Vonnie.

Surprised Barrett beat out Fox, but happy for it.

Why does that surprise you? Fox was another journeyman special teamers Shanny brought a long Barrett has great man to man cover skills against the TE and he plays great on special teams.

Agree on both. I'm glad they didn't give up on Barrett. Remember the job he did on Gonzo last year? With that kind of size/speed ratio you have to hope he catches on and blooms late. Fox is just another guy IMO but Barrett has a higher ceiling. Same with Powell...he's got NFL talent. I hope he winds up on our PS.

McBean played very well in the preseason. He's not going anywhere.

Marcus Thomas got a real break. His injury might have saved him a job. He would have had to outplay a fairly tough field.

I hope this is a sign that the staff is bullish on him.

Jarvis Moss makes it....I am fine with that.

Lamont Jordan makes it....don't see how he will really help the team.

I will be interested to see how Crowder does with a fresh start.

Isn't he active tomorrow, the 6th? If so, then LeKevin Smith prolly goes to PUP. I can't imagine they would cut a guy after just one day. That would be a cruel joke.

Here's a break down so you can see just how young this team is. (I am counting B Marshall as one of the 53).

As you will see -- it's a good mix of youth and experience, with an emphasis on youth:

10 rookies
10 2nd year players
4 3rd year players
6 4th year players
4 5th and 6th year players
4 7th year players
4 8th year players
11 veteran players with 9 or more years in the league.

That's 34 players with 6 years or less in the league.

mhgaffney
09-05-2009, 08:42 PM
I for one am happy to see that 9 out of 10 of the rookies drafted this year made the team. That's a strong -- though early -- endorsement of the Bronco draft strategy.

The season will be the true test. We will see.

Where's Lekevin? Pup?

He hasn't been yet, but Marshall hasn't been activated either. So, they are at 53 with Smith, without Marshall. A move will have to be made tomorrow when Marshall is activated, so maybe Jordan or Marshall going on PUP (not sure of Jordan's status) or someone else getting cut.

Cito Pelon
09-05-2009, 08:46 PM
I still don't know how they'll do. I want to see an attacking O, and we'll take it from there. I think the D will do OK. I liked Andre Goodman's comment, "Defense is confidence sometimes," cornerback Andre Goodman said. "You play with that confidence to recover from your mistakes and to keep lining up. We've got guys who can play that way."

We'll see how it plays out.

Scratch that. I thought they could put them on the reserve PUP at the end of preseason, but I didn't realize they had to first be on the active PUP and not participate in TC.

So, that means someone else will have to get cut tomorrow if Marshall is activated.

your just wrong.

The fact is Jordan a proven goaline runner with like 20 tds over last 4-5 yrs. That's with only like 150 carries or so a yr.

Also he rarely fumbles. That is something that coaches covet. A Rb who can get into the endzone, who doesn't fumble.

In his whole career only 4 lost fumbles. IMO that's pretty impressive.

He's not flashy and won't give you any big runs. He won't turn the corner or make much out of stuff that isn't there. What he does do is get to the LOS pretty quick for a big RB, he makes quick decisions around the goal line and short yardage, doesn't get caught for negative yrds much.

People really need to stop thinking they are smarter then McDaniels. He's making logical moves based on what he had to work with.

He fracked up the Cutler thing. Who knew Cutler would react like he did? IMO not one other QB in the NFL would have done that. You never see Mcnabb doing that when Philly drafts a QB high, or whispers they may think he is done etc etc.

Um...if I remember right...didn't Mcnabb ask for a trade after they drafted a QB high this past year? Or was that last year? He did the same thing after they brought in Garcia. I honestly think 90% of it was a PR stunt but each individual is different.
